You provide 1 side of a story. I am not saying what you said in not true. No one will every know the whole truth all that happen back then.

I will say this. There was one Mod who was a serious meth addict. And no I am not saying it was you. Those who were around know of whom I speak. When on the boards was stoned half the time. So if you are going be truthful, you should offer up the full truth. Not just your lament.

I have no idea, for a while it was fab, we had a lot of socks but I also recall a group of people who were not mods, but who were just there to help newbies to settle in, a few mods who were actually fun and not too heavy handed but really kept an eye on the socks (it was almost as bad then as it was now), then everything went up in flames, a lot of us left because the treatment of the mods wasn't courteous or nice, nor of the people who helped newbies to settle in. As far as I could see they all did a great job, we had some real **** here, one of them still rants on FB I think (the one who leads groups of one, him and himself only, and thinks playing Dungeon and Dragon makes him a master), total tosser who tried to out me, put up the profile of a lawyer who's first name is Constanze up, as he thought it was me.

In general the atmosphere was pretty relaxed and newbies were made to feel welcome, then mods and helpers were just "fired" without as much as a thanks, any question about it was deleted and got a gold letter, so I just didn't want to hang around anymore. I miss quite a lot of old faces...

Read it twice and have absolutely no idea what the problems is: is it the staff? or the volunteers? or the members of the board? Difficult to tell.

Just one point that struck me....

The test you put in place, where the person said: "can't remember".

I'd have said something similar rather than be dragged into some else's drama or in an attempt to step out of a free-for-all.

Don't know the details, but maybe she thought: "life's too short for this bollocks" and simply swerved the question rather than take sides with some party.

Were I the mods I wouldn't want someone else's actions associated with my site either and I would have deleted it.

Where I come from, they are known as "the polis".

Not sure why because no one else in the country calls them the polis!

Gotta say I'm convinced the mods did the right thing by deleting it.

Firstly, they could have been open to a charge of slander.

Secondly, it's not right to have someone be accused of rape by a kangaroo court.

Thirdly, assuming there was an actual rape, why should the site's reputation suffer as a result?

Yeah, it's a shame really.

Because people have clearly gone to the effort to put something together that other people can use.

And, I do see a bit of throwing it back in the faces of the Mods with snide comments that aren't really necessary.

I was here a long while back but went away for a while, prison obviously, and before I went there were a few people who were clearly getting their heads together and doing the clique thing.

It sort of went from being orderly and broadly courteous to a few people being disruptive.

When I started posting again, maybe two years later, these posters doing their clique bit and being disruptive had left the site and claimed it was due to the Mods not doing their job.

Mission accomplished on the part of the clique I suppose.

If there is any fault to laid at the door of the Mods, it is maybe not nipping the clique in the bud before it got out of hand and the lunatics took over the asylum.

They've always been absolutely fine with me, but then it's just a usual thing that if you don't get involved in playing games with the people running the show, then you ain't gonna have a problem.

I don't understand the OP in context, but from the perspective of the back end, server-type stuff, it's possible to stop content from being "public facing" without deleting it entirely. Yes, "deleting" it from what you and I can view, perfectly reasonable. Think of that as making that content "private". But deleting it from server logs is a different thing, especially in the way the OP is describing. It's possible to keep the face of the site clean from controversy while maintaining records of undesirable and/or illegal things happening.

I was speaking of the whole, both Collarspace/Collarme and the boards. A guilty by association sort of thing where the reputation of the other side is such that people who haven't even visited the boards see it as no better than the profile side. (I base my comments on observed postings on the "other" site as well as others I've stumbled upon.)

And no, my obvious thought of your absence wouldn't have been prison. I would think you were absent, as I was, out of just feeling a need to get away from the drama and/or real life stuff taking precedence. I'm sorry for your troubles. :(

Still don't agree though.

Were the moderators responsible for the actions of all its members then they'd be guilty of causing alcoholism, drug addiction and a boat load of other addictions, afflictions and general nonsense.

I can't see any good argument as to why the moderators should keep details of an alleged rape on their premises anywhere.

In the event someone alleged rape on a site I was running, that person would be banned for life - no questions asked - and the details would definitely be removed on the grounds it has nothing to do with the site or the moderators.

No, I just had other things going on in my life. I quite liked it here and there were and still are some good posters with some interesting things to say.

I didn't really like the clique as I'm the sort of person who can spot a pattern before it emerges and knew it wouldn't end well.

Pretty poor form really: be disruptive, cause a problem, problem emerges, claim the people who were the initial target of said disruption aren't doing their jobs. Same old tactic that is as old as the hills and is done every day all over the world.

But apart from them, absolutely no complaints from me.

And, yeah, reputation is important; which would-be mod would want a rumour doing the rounds that this is a place where rapists ply their trade?

That's not this one.

Most people didn't know that was going on until after. Well, I didn't. Frankly, I always felt I should have figured it out. Nobody without 'chemical help' should have been able to outpace an insomniac living in Alaska. There was other stuff that came out after her arrest that most people didn't know about.

This one is touching on the truth but isn't telling the whole truth. She's not talking about her own abuse of power. She isn't saying much about breaking the privacy aspect of this site and accusing members of things they never did. Imagine my surprise a few months back when a fellow member of this site informed me that she was telling people that I was scamming folks here for money. How I was supposedly pulling that off, I don't know. I honestly don't have the computer skills to do it, even if I was the kind of person who didn't have the ethics to prevent me from it.

I was also informed that she was telling folks that I was the one who threatened to sue the site. Nothing could have been further from the truth. I actually didn't know the other person threatened to sue the site until certain Mods were fired. At that time, I was given documentation about it. I hadn't asked for it. It wasn't because I was a favorite. It was because the agents of this site had originally came to me to ask me if there was any way I knew of to get my stalker to stop harassing them. I had every reason to believe this was correct because it was the same pattern that the other person used to threaten the little kink group I was affiliated with in Alaska.

Yep, I'm sure some records "disappeared" after the Gamma/Chi administrations, but it wasn't because of them. It wasn't because of some damn site glitch, either. Somebody around this joint did a neat little Orwell of "he who controls the present controls the past," and wiped a bunch of the stuff out. I'm pretty sure most folks can figure that out.

I may be the biggest computer twit on this site, but I called this stuff as coming days ago.

For most people this thread will not make sense. It is about something that happened about 3 years ago with the website and the moderators who helped run the website. Most if not all were volunteers. No one is going to post what happened as it is rather lengthy in detail. And if it did get posted it would surely be deleted again.

For those who were around at that time and part of the staff or close friends of the staff, the thread does make sense. Sorry for the confusion but that is about as much information as you are going to get on this one.
