What? Like the hyenas in the north? The self-haters?

No question, there are some 'self-haters' here in Georgia. Or in any other state, any other country. But unlike in some other places, we don't make point of pride about it, nor take such an asinine notion as that being something to 'build' upon.

ETA, of course, politicians make it a different story. Of course some want to 'build on that,' but there's no way we could ever catch up to the self-hatred level as in the North.

Forget about retirement. People are moving to Charlotte by the hundreds because of so-called 'people skills' that natives from elsewhere (especially Cleveland) have/had never experienced.

If that's not appealing, they don't stay.

They stay.

We're here for you, man.

Got anymore fires to put out on all the rivers you dumped every last sort of crap into?

You guys are so good at that.

No doubt, if we ever devolve to the same level you guys sunk to 60 years ago (and never drudged out of), we know what firemen to call.

I believe that Termyn8or has proven one point here intentionally or not.
There is a group of people who are dedicated to the concept that because they are born in one part of the country they are automatically superior to those of us from other parts of the country.

When I was in grade school in Mo I was actually taught that southerners weren't actually lazy, it is just that they didn't wear shoes and all had ring worms which drained them of energy.

In the service I had a roomate who actually believed that IQs were regionalized. According to him a southerner with an IQ of 140 would only have an IQ of 120 in, say Illinois. This bias has been passed down in some part of the country so that we still have a lot of people who still cling to this cultural bias.

I want to make it very clear that I do not for a momment think that everyone from other parts of the country harbor this kind of biggotry. However I notice that they are not called out for their mindless bias as they would for any other cultural group.

I hear ya.

No way will you and I overlap much in things of political nature, but one good thing about people who have traveled a lot (such as being in the military or show biz) see some of the same things regarding human nature in many places.

It's sad to see, but all this carping about 'the south' could only come from people who think movies are real, and otherwise suffer from some greater level of Psychopathic hubris regarding their own territory, which it's obvious they have never been out of.

Not sure what you are saying here, that Clevelanders are not really friendly, or have good people skills ? I can't really disagree. I have been to other places and the people almost always seem more friendly. But I am used to here so here I am. If I went to a good place I would probably rub people the wrong way.

People here do not want alot of friends, so many, me included no longer want to have cookouts with 30 people. When I was younger we used to have keg parties with like four kegs and 20 gallons of powerful punch, I mean with PGA in it. Even the dog got so drunk the dude had to carry him out of the house. Two live bands, one in the basement and one in the attic, in which you could play basketball. One of THOSE houses. Damn.

But even then, this bunch was a bit clanish and weren't really interested in any new recruits. The parties got to the point where you really couldn't burn one, there was what's left of a pound of weed on the pool table. What a dick to put it on the pool table but then who am I to bitch ? Just roll you one. There were too any people to pass it around. Three floors and outside in the back where the kegs and punch were. The punch had watermelon and sorbet(sp?) in it and all kind of things, grapes cut in pieces, and strawberries, a few other things. We figured with the amount of PGA he put in there is was like 8 %. Like a strong beer or a weak wine. People, especially the girl absolutely LOVED it. I mean LOVED IT. We had to go to the grocery store one time and get the stuff for another one and the best booze for it was Bacardi Light 151 rum. Actually that party was at a different place.

Back then you had to buy from a state liquor store. They were closed. This was not one of those super parties with two dozen Harleys in the frontyard, but it was a pretty good bash. Had to go to a bar and buy a fifth from them and they raked us over the coals for it. But oh well.

I was working, almost everyone was working. It was YOLO on steroids. If you want, go to your online maps and look at Edgerton Road in North Royalton, Ohio. In the middle of the night when it was dark we had contests to see who could drive the fastest from one end to the other, I think one end is 82 and the other is Bennett Road. I did it a couple of times. Now, I don't even want to ride a bicycle.

Now what was the topic ? Because it seems we are on Mars now.

Yep, they talk about the south having to forget about the war, but have you ever noticed that it is the anti southern bigots who always bring the war up, who hasn't gotten over it?

Of the six states that I have lived in the one with the most racists rednecks was Maryland.
Of the six states that I have lived in the one with the most radical anti-American leftest was, Maryland.
My ex-wife (who was black) said she lived in NC for 40 years and saw more racism in one week end in Detroit than in the rest of her life put together.

That's their feeble attempt at a sucker punch.

As mentally homogeneous and 'hive mind' as some people in northern regions can be on occasion, some few or them latch onto the 'jihad against the South' thing.

Move anywhere else but avoid that trash heap.

If the mindset itself doesn't turn you away, I don't know what else would.

There may also be physiological and environmental causes involved with that. Even the diet of the Mother in the in vitro phase. I am not claiming it at the moment but claiming that it is a possibility. I have long spoken about minerals, which are very deficient and why, and the effects. If you missed it I have links. And there is no way in hell they are not true.

I tellya this though, if you are born in Hawaii you will probably be healthy as hell.

I know (knew, one of them died) three people from NYC. Two moved to Ga, the other to Al. They were some of the nicest people I have known. Though a lot of people said they weren't New Yorkers, they just happened to be born there.

One had a habit that some people didn't like. Don't ask her a question if you don't want a straight answer. Personally I liked that.

On the other hand she came to one of out events in a recreational organization I was in. This was one that I was in charge of. She brought a minor and didn't realize she lacked the proper waviers from the parents.
Since I was in charge I didn't the the registar tell her, I did my self, that isn't the sort of thing you delegate. When I explained to her what was wrong with her paperwork and that she would have to leave and take the minor with her. She simply thanked me for explaining it to her, packed up and left, no fight, and no hard feelings. She was also retired military and understood that I was doing my job.

There were a number of people from Cali who emigrated to eastern TN and western NC in the late sixties, 'hippies' at the time.

But nobody remains a hippie, or a liberal, or a neocon or a libertarian or whatever, once one has lived off the land for some years.

This is the same region, way back when, where so many refused to fight for the cotton farmers in the Civil War.

These Cali folks got along famously with the locals. They're still there. Third generation.

Well, OK, some of them still exhibit a somewhat hippie 'facade,' but in any case, they deal with everyday nuts and bolts stuff, and understand trading and exports very well.

Bama, I just thought of something funny apropos of absolutely nothing here but thought you may get a chuckle out of it.
We have been seeing both Trump and Clinton working their respective electorates here and something kept nagging at the back of my mind where I had seen her (Clinton) before and then I realised..............................almost the final scene in 'Kelly's Heroes' where the general ( who has political aspirations after the war) is coming into the French village in his jeep and he is standing up and working the crowd EXACTLY like Clinton.................that cheesy, phoney smile, pointing at people he has never seen before as though they were old friends and glad-handing the crowd.
It was her, I swear it was her...................slightly younger and slightly better looking, but it was definitely HER !!!
