I know what it means, Aileen...but did you every wonder where it comes from? There are lots of explanations, but at least two of them have to do with supposed Irish incompetence at golf, and or drinking. Don't get me wrong...I'm not Irish and I don't really feel the need to defend the phrase. Notice that we don't call a golf "do over" a Ginsburg? E. (who's going home for the night...adieu)

Well I never actually questioned it's history. I only used the word on a golf course when I was drinking with some Irish players.
