He's talking about our upcoming general election and the issue of Scottish independence. After the general election the Conservatives will probably be in a much more powerful position and the push, in Scotland, for independence, will be given that much more weight as a result. The Scots generally see the Conservatives as England-supporting, to the detriment of Scotland.
Essentially, what you need to know is that, in a few years time, there might not be a 'Great Britain' any more. Should that be the be the case, when you talk to me, you won't be talking to a 'Brit' any more, but an 'Englishman'; while, when talking to WD, you'll be talking to a Scotsman.
