It's been awhile since I paid any attention to the number of posts I've made...but tonight I noticed it.

Now I check in here at collarme fairly often....sometimes I think I spend far too much time here. I've been here nearly 2 years now. I noticed tonight though that there are many people who have nearly the same number of posts...and sometimes even more....but they have been here only a matter of months.

Do you folks ever leave your computers? Do you really have THAT many things you have an opinion about? How on earth do you rack up those kinds of numbers?

Mind boggling....I don't think I'd ever get anything done if I spent that much time here.

A) I type fast.  On a bad day, I'm about 80 wpm.

B) I read extremely fast.

C) I have a relational style memory which is perfectly suited for an online forum in recalling former topics/posters/connections/past essays.

D)  At this point of my experience in online bdsm forums, it's very rare that a topic comes along that I haven't responded to more than a few times in a variety of ways and that makes me take time to process through.

But you've been here quite awhile...and did your post count from your old name transfer over?

Some people have been here like 3 months and have thousands of posts.

Im unemployed right now, and bored, and I have way too much time on my hands as it were because I am taking time away after caring for a very sick person for over 2 years.... it about time I got a chance to fuck my time away, I have worked very hard over the years to get the chance. Not to mention my Dom likes reading me

I could ask the same of you....lol.  I've been here for a month longer than you, and you have over 2200 more posts than I do, and I check in at least once a day, everyday.  Maybe I just choose very carefully the topics I bother replying to/have interest in....who knows? LOL.

As always, YMMV...

Some people run up their post counts by a lot of shortys in "Polls and other Random Stupidity."  Not that there's anything wrong with that.

For myself, I post when I feel I have something to say.  Speaking of which, this is my 401st post which means I should now be....

Yeeeeeeeeee Hawwwwwww, perverted at last.

Sheesh, I've been perverted for almost half a century.

I've wondered the same thing. I don't think I could post as much as many do if I made a goal of it. I look at my own posting volume, and think I need to get a constructive hobby.

I spend an hour, maybe two here at a stretch.  I get a lot done.  I work full time, and go to school, and serve my Master in various ways, and help my mom take care of my dad when she needs it.  This is my "unwinding" time.

I type about 95wpm.

Like Harry VanWinkle suggested, when I first came here, I spent a lot of sleepless evenings goofing around in the Polls & Stupidity threads.

I probably post opinions to about 10% of the threads here, and sometimes I engage in conversations within threads which also increase the count.

As for leaving my computer - hardly.  I work at my computer all day (although I am not in CM while I'm in the office) and I do my homework on my computer, and I write various assignments for my Master on my computer, and I communicate with my family overseas on my computer, and.....you get the idea. My computer is pretty much ALWAYS on, except for the times I'm out and about - doing stuff, playing, visiting, etc.  I sleep about 4-5 hours a night, so my days are long and very filled.  For example, it is almost 1:30am here, and I get up around 6:30-7:00am to go to work.

Like LA, when I'm home CM is often on in the background and I might toggle over  from time to time to see what's sprung up.  Maybe I'll post to it and go back to what I was doing.  Posting to threads does not necessarily mean one is hanging out here all day.  Although when I see my post count, I also wonder....wow.  But I do think about half of them were racked up in the games during my late nights.  That's my statement and I'm sticking to it.

I post in spurts.  I have over 4,000 posts, but it's taken a couple of years to get there.  Some nights I might write as many as 20 different things.  And then some weeks, I hardly write anything.  I do this shit just to interfere with everyone's ability to gauge my posting patterns.

Original posts are more like masturbating than other types of posts - once someone else posts to a thread it's no longer masturbation and more of a conversation. So in my view the number of posts a person has is sort of a number indicating how much they like to communicate with other people. Someone with a whole lot of posts in a short time frame is merely gregarious. Forum threads and instant messages is just how we converse nowadays and only a "problem" if it replaces or hampers real life interactions - in other words, if it is a kind of sick escapism keeping someone from forming real relationships.

Speaking for myself, I do not watch much TV. I have a TV so that I can watch DVD movies on it. I also read all kinds of media (fiction, non-fiction, magazines, online newspapers, comic books, etc). I listen to music all the time. I talk to people in real life and on the phone. And I spend some time online everyday doing this "posting" thing also.

But just think of what I am saving myself by not watching reruns or Dr. Phil or Oprah or some other bonehead blathering on about spray on hair to cover my bald spot...I'm not spending 2 hours a day watching some bullshit on TV so I can spend a few minutes doing other stuff like finding out what's going on in the world and exchanging ideas with other people in a place like this.

And it's better than spurting in posts lol.

I post a lot, and have done it in a fairly short time, but it's finally slowing down.

grins...I love it, I just posted a reply to this thread pondering my own reasons for sending relatively few posts compared to some who have been on here for the same amount of time and my isp died and I lost the post! If only I remembered to save every post before sending it I probably would be in the millions by now, instead a heap of my thoughtful, witty, clever, learned etc etc words are floating out in the ether somewhere.

I don't understand the sort of mindset who, once given at least the basic details of something can't form some sort of opinion about it.... even if that opinion is "Need more info". But then I come from a science background and tend to analyse any set of info given.

Put on top of that the fact that I can talk the hind legs off a donkey, I am very talkative when in the company of folks I find interesting, can contribute to a discussion on ANY topic even if having to gather info and forumulate my opinion from scratch on the fly during the conversation.

Yep, when in the mood I can probably post up a storm. Never bothered taking much notice of my post count. I notice it occassionaly but once you get into paddles 500 posts are far enough apart that you forget about it till you are just about to hit another.

*Looks at post count... oooohhhhh!*

I've noticed that some  OP will reply to just about each and every person who responded to their original post/question over and over again. If I reply to a post question 10 times - do I really need to be responded too 10 times- umm no. The post total does rack up.
