Wait, did he carry him across the threshold, which is what I read or was he already in the bedroom?

Either way Spacey was wrong and I'm not defending him. But I do believe those are two different contexts and I've been on the side where I was asleep in a bed and someone came home drunk and thought that I was there for them. (Roommate mistakenly thought he was gone for the weekend.). It was a tussle for about a minute. The next morning he didn't remember anything and I believed him. Fortunately for me I was old enough to know what was going on and able to fight him off. That's not always the case, with this case being an example of that.

I was still angry at him but I believed that he didn't remember it. Even if these were the circumstances with Kevin Spacey it was still wrong, and apparently had a big impact on the child, one that cannot be mitigated by saying "oh, but he didn't know what he was doing".

Just saying that if I'm going to be disgusted with the guy I want to be disgusted for the right reasons.

Yes he did... if true anyway... the very definition of rape is unlawful sexual activity... I would say trying to have sex with a 14 year old is unlawful.

You can't rape a child while passed out... that is different from assaulting someone when drunk... see the difference I am talking about? So no... I do not believe you could do that and not remember.
Butch

While it's true that your can't rape someone while passed out (implies loss of consciousness), but one most certainly could rape someone while so drunk he won't remember. The allusion to "whiskey dick" I assume is very real, but one doesn't need to insert a penis into another for there to be rape. And, I've helped enough friends home from parties who were drunk enough to not remember the next day, but not so drunk or passed out that they weren't half walking themselves. I had a friend wake up the next day wondering why his shoulder was bruised and hurt. He didn't remember attempting to tackle a dumpster while 4 sheets to the wind.

Could a person, while totally drunk to the point they won't remember grope another person? You betcha. Could that person masturbate another against his/her will? You betcha.

How the FBI defines rape:
    quote:

Q: In 2012, the Department of Justice announced a change to the definition of Rape for the Uniform Crime Reporting Program’s (UCR) Summary Reporting System (Summary). How does the new definition differ from the old one?

A: The old definition was “The carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will.” Many agencies interpreted this definition as excluding a long list of sex offenses that are criminal in most jurisdictions, such as offenses involving oral or anal penetration, penetration with objects, and rapes of males. The new Summary definition of Rape is: “Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim.”

So, yeah, there could easily have been rape.

We will just have to disagree on the above... I just flat out do not believe it... I do think people will do things while under the influence that they would not do when sober... but they remember.

Did you read the FBI's definition of rape? Had Spacey attempted to blow the kid or finger the kid's ass, that constitutes rape. Spacey doesn't have to have been able to get an erection to commit rape.

None of my comments are, in any way, shape, or form, intended to mitigate the harm or consequences for Spacey's actions.

Rapp was already in the bedroom.

Spacey may have been imitating a scene from the very play Rapp was in at the time.

What Rapp described as happening is not rape. By your definition, ALL sexual assault is rape
The law doesn't treat it that way because there is a distinction. Read DS's post. Rape is a particular form of sexual assault. And what Rapp has described does not meet the definition of rape.

I am not by any means excusing Spacey. I just prefer be clear on what he actually did and how it could have happened, despite him claiming that he does not remember it.

There is such a thing as a drunken blackout.

I hold Spacey accountable for his actions but he may not actually remember it.

And another person comes forward with a story, one that can't be written off to drunkenness.

Not the greatest of sources, but it's still early.

Has anyone read this?
For some reason, I think there is an air of "truth", about
the allegations his brother is making.

Kevin has always had an air of detachment to me.

Daily Mail- Kevin's brother says father was a Nazi child rapist

If this allegations are true, this is no way "an excuse".
This could just explain a little of Kevin's back story.
Many abused children grow up to become abusers.
Again, not an excuse...just a possible reason, or a look into Kevin's soul.

hummmm

Let's stop here for a moment. Just that fact that he "doesn't remember the incident" tells me that it wasn't an isolated one. I mean, drunk or not how many times did something similar happen to the extent that he doesn't remember this one? Let's also notice the language of the statement. It is a classic non-denial denial. No sale, Kevin.

Kevin is hands down, is a consummate actor, one of the most outstanding actors of our time.
Brilliant actor, deeply troubled human.
He has a history of groping and grabbing, very inappropriate--he needs help and I hope he gets help.

IF he admits he has a problem, and gets treatment, I will still like and support Kevin.
If he does not, I can't support him.
I hope he does the right thing, I have always liked Spacey, and I still do.
He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone.
I still dig you Kevin, Please get help.

Given that Perez Hilton has based his career on spreading gossip about celebrities and hasn't (as yet) been sued into oblivion for defamation about anything he's said, there's probably less reliable sources about this sort of thing.

I'm not sure that I agree much with the 'if he gets help' theory. He didn't choose to get help all of these years and oddly enough, he didn't decide he needed help until he got caught.

I said on another thread that I actually do believe that addictions, including sexual addition, exists. However, people with addictions are usually aware they have a problem. It's really not that they don't know the difference between right and wrong.

quote:

IF he admits he has a problem, and gets treatment, I will still like and support Kevin.
If he does not, I can't support him.

As additional people are coming forward, exactly what is so wonderful that you are liking and supporting about him? Is his acting ability the greater priority here or, if he's been doing this for years, is the more important thing that he's a sh^tty human being/sexual predator?

quote:

I hope he does the right thing, I have always liked Spacey, and I still do.

Again, what is it exactly that you 'like' about him?

Seems to me, the guy had the chance to do 'the right thing' for thirty some odd years. He CHOSE not to.

quote:

He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone.

Thanks... No. The majority of adults don't attempt to molest 14 year olds and it shouldn't be equated to people spitting on the sidewalk.
quote:

I still dig you Kevin, Please get help.

Are you digging the other sexual predators, too?

quote:

**Not being pressured, to follow the "herd" and be politically correct, is so fucking awesome!**

I'm perfectly cool with being accused of "following the herd" for not supporting pedophiles. I honestly don't care if a person writes great songs, does a wonderful job acting a part in a play, or produces great movies. It's pretty cool to not give a sh^t if somebody is awesome at their job to win a Tony and such. I'm way more concern if they've blown it at their job at being a decent human being.

I am going to attempt to clarify how I feel about Kevin.

I feel that Kevin Spacey is a consummate and outstanding actor, with great talent and an outstanding body of work...as a ACTOR.

As a PERSON I find Kevin morally reprehensible.
As a PERSON, I think Kevin is a sexual abuser, a predator and a pedophile, who has abused young men for years.
Kevin has preyed and abused young men and boys, and has hidden behind his celebrity and fame.
Kevin also knew that many young boys and men, are not often willing to come forward and talk about abuse--again reprehensible.

I wish the first young man, that Kevin abused, had at least come forward and pressed charges in the 80s.
I wish Kevin had been prosecuted and convicted years ago, and that would have cost him his career.

I don't care if you are the best actor, actress, singer, musician, song writer, writer, poet, that the world has ever seen---IF you commit any crime, I want you convicted.
PERIOD
Celebrity does not put you above the law.

I can't name/nor do I have the time, to list all the musicians, entertainers, athletes, "people of great influence", GREAT writers, poets, actors, politicians, etc. that were despicable human beings on the personal level.

You could be the most talented person on this earth--and still be a rapist and a murderer.

Again, I wish Kevin had been brought on charges years ago, and could have served TIME and lost his career.
He is taking a break, and "getting treatment".
I am not sure his career will ever recover, and it will be interesting to see what he does with the rest of his life.

IF anyone does the CRIME, I want them to do the TIME---I don't care WHO they are/WHAT they have/ or WHAT they have done.
Kevin should have been brought up on charges, YEARS ago, and the fact that no one "said anything" for 40 years, is why he got away with it.

As "great" as an actor Kevin IS, I wish he had been brought DOWN, the first time he abused anyone.
PERIOD

Putting talent and ability aside, the list of people "of influence", that I admire and respect, THESE days, is not long.
PEACE
