Less taxes means less money spent, right? I'm pretty solid with math, but please make sure I'm right. Assuming the price of goods doesn't change, paying less taxes might mean more profits, right? A company just might, and here things may get dicey, use the extra profits to increase their production floor space, add machinery (typically run by operators, so more machinery means more operators, means more jobs), etc.

Or, they may just be putting the extra money they get from paying less tax towards their shareholders' dividends, and looking to see what overheads they can cut by outsourcing production entirely.

In lean times, there's more of a drive to "see what overheads they can cut by outsourcing production entirely." With reduced tax pressure, outsourcing just might not make quite as much economic sense. Odd that, eh?

Do you only listen to talking heads? Do you not look into anything yourself?

"In the long run" we're all going to be paying more in taxes.

Look beyond the rhetoric. You might be surprised.

Follow your own advice. I thought it might be possible to discuss this reasonably with you, unlike some of the others who infest the forum, but I guess I was mistaken.

Drilling in Anwar is part of the tax reform bill. Finally.

So when has cutting taxes led to investment in the economy, then?
Are you seriously making an argument for trickle down theory after we've watched it blatantly not working for forty odd years?

AT&T has just announced that that will be investing 1 billion in the coming year. They are also giving a $1000.00 bonus to 200,000 of their employees. It is a direct result of the bill signed today. Southwest Airlines, Fed Ex and Boeing are also announcing expansions as well.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Believe it. Wells Fargo also just announced wage increases for many of their employees as well. Boeing investing 300 million in their business. Fed Ex as well. This is just the beginning.

The biggest difference will be when the small businesses start to expand and hire. It won't take long.

The economic growth that Obama swore could never happen, that he mocked president Trump for campaigning on, is here

Comcast has just announced that 100,000 employees will be getting a $1000.00 bonus because of the tax savings they will get.

Maybe you'll believe this:

In this morning's Chicago Tribune, it is reported that since mid-December, at least two dozen companies launched significant stock buybacks. corporate dividend increases, or both.
Boeing is initiating an $18 billion stock repurchase program. United Airlines has announced a $3 billion buyback.

servantforuse -> RE: Senate to vote soon on tax bill (12/20/2017 3:00:54 PM)

So What. Stock buy backs have been going on forever. Companies do this for a variety of reasons. Usually to strengthen the company, which is good for all who are employed there.

Maybe energy independence for the US. Nothing but good news for the economy today. To whore mods, Banks Wells Fargo and 5th 3rd both announced minutes ago that they will both be paying a minimum wage of $15.00 per hour,.

It's a direct attempt to persuade Trump's Justice Department to not block their planned merger with Time Warner. They make the steaming coil of a tax bill look like it's helping someone other than corporate interests and then don't have to pay the $500 million fee they would be on the hook for to Time Warner if they have to pull out of the merger deal. In the end, they save $300 million and Trump gets to claim a "victory" due to the tax bill.

Aw, ain't that cute. What talking heads have I been listening to? They don't talk about this stuff on the Mystic Prophecy (misucal group) station on Pandora. Nor do they comment on it on ESPN Radio.

So, I'm not sure which talking heads I'm getting my info from, nor how I'm not looking into anything myself. Yet, all you're doing is spouting the democratic talking points.

If you want to reasonably discuss this (or anything else) with me, drop the rhetoric, and we can have a reasonable and sane discussion. The failure was not on my part.

Huh. Here I was thinking the economy has grown 'round these parts. My bad. [/sarcasm]

servantforuse -> RE: Senate to vote soon on tax bill (12/20/2017 3:39:41 PM)

The AT&T / Time Warner will go through regardless of this tax reform bill. They are both taking the Govt. to court, and they will win. One has nothing to do with the other.
