Interesting. The tribe's net win that is, the net amount lost by gamblers at its Milwaukee casino during the 12-month period that ended July 31 is about $400 million according to an estimate based on payments the tribe made to the local and state governments.

Those Indians must really love gambling. Or they are getting a whole lotta non-Indian business. Growth was essentially flat for 2016.

I will add this, though: Europeans didn't come here because they couldn't have a theocracy in Europe. They came here to escape the Theocratic Monarchies.

In-bred European Kings and Queens had no problem accepting validation from the Church of Rome.

the point about their being here before Europeans arrived is absolutely inconsequential to what they are called.

the "American" part of "American Indians" distinguishes them from "Asian" Indians.

it also distinguishes them from an "indian American"

whats more, the "American" part of "native American" also distinguishes them from other "natives," that is, Americans of all stripes who were born here.

saying "indigenous people" only works if a frame of reference is already established, you know, like "America" as opposed to "Australia"

the encyclopedia brittanica refers to them as "American Indians"

so does the history channel and a host of other reputable, studied, educational places.

so does the government in some instances.

so does the National Congress of American Indians (in case youre wondering, that is, THE INDIANS THEMSELVES)

and then there is this gem:

I like the word "native american" better.

Because the word Indian refers to people from India, which those guys in the US are not from India.

And while "Red Indian" is a racial slur in the US.

In Asia, we literally refer to them as Red Indians, because we are use to "Black Indians", which is our default Indians. So to differentiate them. The American version of Indians are considered Red Indians, and our regular Indians, are Indians.

But we also refer to white people as Red Hair folks in our own language. So I don't know what's up with the colour red. Like even if they see a blonde or a brunette, that person will be called Red hair. I think we got the 1% drop of blood rule for white people here. As people with white blood are all referred to as red hair too. And it's truly and honestly not a derogatory word, but a friendly word.

I don't agree with the meaning of Native.

To me, Native refers to the original people that occupy the country. And not the immigrants descendants born to that country.

So like even Taiwan has indigenous people. And they would be called Native Taiwanese which is different from the ones that migrate from China to Taiwan.

So you wouldn't be a Native, as your ancestors were immigrants.

I wouldn't even consider myself a Native Singaporean because my great great great and gawd knows how many "greats" ago, migrated here.

I think there has gotta be like a differentiation. With respect giving to the original people of the territory. That our fore fathers has came in and took their land.

I honestly think it's quite sad. I mean, even in my own country. It started with the Brits who invaded. Then later Chinese tookover although by democracy, but fact is, the land belong to the Natives Malay. But they were weak, so stronger races took over.

You know one of the reason why our this year Presidency was reserved specially for the Native people only is because, we took their land. I am not 100% disgruntled about it. Because I recognise that we took their land and we are kind enough to let them be President as a gesture. Because in almost every country that got invaded by non-native, their natives always suffer the most. And struggle economically and in every way. As they cannot adapt to the new culture sweeping in. Look at Aboriginals in Australia. Same shit. We wanted to give them hope. That they can! It's actually very kind but controversial.

America was certainly not a white country. Red Indians are the authentic original Americans.

Actually, there's plenty of evidence to suggest that my ancestors (Native Americans, American Indians, whatever) came across the Bering Land Bridge (when it existed) from Asia and settled here.

I don't know if it's the origin of the "red" thing, but I know Sicilians believe Judas Iscariot had red hair; to the point where people with red hair are still (sometimes) given the "nickname" of "malpelo" (bad hair).
