I'm curious what arrangements in terms of different equipment some of us might use for securing a submissive for nighttime... I'm exploring some different ways to secure a submissive comfortably but securely during sleepy time... Thanks!

You might consider some of the medical restraints from posey, if you can find a supplier online for them. I have a set of ankle and wrist cuffs - very soft and quite comfortable, and there's no way you can get free if they're properly secured.

Other ideas would be collar with a leash attached to a bed post (be very careful about choking hazards) or even a pair of handcuffs attached to an ankle (be careful about it getting too tight).

If your sub is going to be tied down all night, they're going to get stiff and need to move. It can be quite painful after a couple of hours to stay in one position.

Metal restraints such as hand and leg cuffs (be sure they have a double lock feature to prevent over tightening). Best are manicales with padlocks, fit easy and very secure. In either case a chain attached to the leg unit and bed frame, wall, bolt ring, etc. will prevent any unauthorized freedom.

that doesn't sound comfortable at all, much less safe if a sub has a tendency to toss and turn at night. seems to me there would be a risk of bruising and possible dislocations or even broken limbs.

I use hemp rope tied using a non-constricting tie to each ankle & wrist. The 2 ankles & 2 wrists are tied to each other about 1 foot or two apart. Then the wirst ropes are passed under the bed by the headboard, then the wrist & ankle ropes are tied at her feet. The wrists can only be moved so far from the headboard & the ankles can only move so far from the foot of the bed.

It all comes apart with one quick release knot in case of emergency or bathroom time.

duct tape. you can buy it at the local hardware store and it's cheaper than balls.

A Master once told me that if someone can do a rape kit, you can do a bondage kit. If I was starting with someone new, I use the simple silk ties, which you can buy from fabric ships or online. You can use silk in the same way you use rope techniques. Another easy one would be the duct tape or bondage tape, easy to story for overnight play session. I also have wrist & legs cuffs, ball and bar gag in my kit bag. But for real safety I find either duct tape or soft fabric to be good for when someone is sleeping.

Like other people said, watch out for hazards, I always stay clear of the throat and mouth of a Subbie.

I havwe a small idea here.

homw about a coller and leash. the leash tied to the bedposh. with enoeugh legth for the sub to move as needed. perhaps even to the bathroom if nessicary

I like soft gauze mummification myself... but thats more for an overnight session when I'm going to be awake and monitoring. For personal subs, its soft velcro cuffs with caribieners (damn but I cant spell for crap tonight).. you know.. the little climbing doo-hickeys in case of emergency.

I have been secured over night and it has been in a cage in the bedroom. Now your thinking, Wait I don't own a cage or have room in my bedroom. Well the Mistress I served overnight used her closet as a cage. She placed a lock on the outside of the door so I could not open it and there was plenty of room to sleep.

As for safety, if I needed to get out in an e/r as most of you are aware most closet doors are not very secure and I could have broken out if such a need arose.

I have put my slave in bondage using the Under-The-Bed Restraint System we bought on ebay for like $25.

Its got soft ankle and wrist cuffs that are easily adjustable, and I can position it so that its slack enough for him to get out of in case of an emergency.

Its a really great device that so far he hasn't been able to struggle out of, and has been comfortable enough to enjoy for several hours. My favorite part is that its simple, discreet, and effective.

Thanks nikki for letting us know the consideration of safety. I’ve never been in a house afire, but I understand things can get bad very, very fast.

I would hesitate to tie or be tied in any way that required un-knotting or un-locking something after I’d been sleeping.

Hey, I’m submissive and enjoy wearing restraints even just around the house, but if I’m told to stay put…I don’t need a rope or chain to keep me there.

OK, maybe this is off-topic for this thread, but, it is definitely related. First, i am assuming that this question is asking about restraints like collars and cuffs, as opposed to a cage. Secondly, it doesn't state as to whether or not the dominant will be staying/sleeping in the same room. But, why is this considered a "good thing" for either the dominant or submissive? There is a definate safety issue here (choking, fire, etc.). Most likely, the submissive will not sleep well, causing the submissive to be tired, cranky, and, less productive the following day. Lastly, what is the purpose and what is expected to be gained from this? Fantasy is a wonderful thing, but, the reality is not always a good thing.

Im not an advocate of people being bound while they sleep or when left alone. Its simply not safe in case of any type of emergency. For me the thrill isnt worth the risk. Fire, heart attack, seizure, robbery, or any other number of emergencies that could arise, while your asleep.

I've slept very comfortably in locking leather cuffs, chained to the bed frame with enough slack to turn over or change position. It's really no problem at all. Obviously if you restrain your sub so they can't move at all, it's going to cause problems, but hands cuffed in front and legs cuffed together isn't particularly uncomfortable.

I don't think it's a good idea to restrain a sub by the collar overnight -- that's too much of a choking hazard. A too-short restraint could choke the sub, and a too-long one could wrap around and strangle them.

Well i was restrained every night for over thirteen years to my Ex Masters bed. He locked a ankle cuff to a chain to the bed. It was wonderful for us both. The ritual was great for me as his slave. Set rules..set rituals...

I sleep quite often in locking leather cuffs, the question is the rest of the arrangement. Sometimes I am fully spread eagled, others in an inverted Y, and both of those are tight, so I don't get much sleep, and end up often stiff in the morning. Master tends to enjoy having me open and touchable all the time, it's His rules and my participation.

I sleep in a sleeping bag allmost every single night. It's thin and breathes well. and it was only $8.99 on clearance. A belt around the ankles (I do myself) and a belt around the shoulders and waist (obviously can't do that myself) with the arms at the side make it inescable and easy to get out of. If in a fire hurry you can just cut the belts off. Can even cut the sleeping bag if the zipper jams.

Collar overnight is fine, just not attached to anything.

If i'm bound overnight I want to know I can't get out, it's not as much fun knowing how easy it is to escape. (Still better then nothing) Babies can cry non stop until "swaddled" (no idea how that's spelled, I just heard this on t.v. and it made sense) - some people enjoy the feeling of "snuggness."

Velcro cuffs, or cuffs with the P shapped clips are no fun. I don't understand why so many people count this as bondage. Unless your arms are so far apart you can't reach the velcro to undo them... in which case you're not going to be tossing or turning very much.

I've only found one that was large enough for my wrists, and I have small wrists, but they make carribiners with combination locks on them. These are fun since you can't get out of them unless you can see the combination. So if you unplug the only light you can reach, you have to wait for sunlight to get free. Obviously dangerous if you're alone, so be smart, have a flashlight somewhere you can't knock it off, I hang mine off a bedpost, I can turn it on and leave it hanging, and it's the same bedpost the caribiner is chained to... (but again, it looses some of the thrill of knowing I can't escape).

If you really want tight bondage but don't want to pay 200$ for a sleep sack, go buy a pair of sweat pants or pajamas that's a couple sizes too large. It might take a couple tries to get the right size, but turn one leg inside out into the other leg and then pull them up around your ankles up to your waist. a belt around the waist makes sure you can't wiggle out (some sweatpaints come with a built in dwarstring... these are tempting but evil, you don't want knots you can't untie... have scissors handy if you're going to cheat!!) The same can be done for a simple armbinder (however I am not flexible enough to putmyself into this one). Buy a pair sweat pants that are the right size and cut both legs off, put one leg in the other and have someone slide (or roll as the case may need to be) up your arms. If you double them you can make holes (or even sew them on) to add shoulder straps, just don't put a strap around the neck, do straps over the shoulder and then under the arms... If the legs are long enough you wont even be able to use your fingers!!

Shades of GOR! Chaining a slave by the ankle is an excellent tool. It reminds the slave who, and what she is. It also trains her about service and being under strict control. Many slaves enjoy close controls.
