I am a cynic. Just waiting to see what the dark side of the fella is. We all have one, his just hasn't come to light.

At least BAL set a new standard by leaving Cleveland's legacy, name, and colors where it belonged.

Unitas had a restaurant near the house where I grew up called, "The Golden Arm," and its men's room was named: The Irsay Room

Okay,my opinion of Tebow the quarterback iis well known.
No press conference is going to change that...but I tell you what it is hard to dislike this kid.
He is just too nice a guy for me to be able to take any shots at him" the person".....I could do with less of the "my savior Jesus Christ" stuff...but I cant for the life of me take any shots at him .
He is a nice guy....a real nice guy
lol,I'm a convert....lol

Tebow is a fine human being. He's just not much of an NFL style quarterback. He needs to either convert to reciever/slot back or hook up with a team that likes to run the wildcat. I think he would kick ass in either of those situations.

ESPN is reporting that Sean Payton has reached out to Bill Parcells coaching the Saints on an interim basis till Payton's suspension is over

Sorry Edwynn,he never helped the Giants win the 63 title....they lost to the Bears. As a matter of fact there is a famous photo of old Y.A. after the bear defense had had their way with him...he is on his knees, helmet off, beaten bloody and looking old....I think he retired after that
Those old Giants teams were champs only once, they kept getting beat in title games to Unitas and the Colts,Packers and Starr ....and the Bears and their defense.
They were a great team studded with future HOFers...but just one title.55 I think
Ken,maybe later today....I didn't forget [:)]

Sorry Mike, I completely whiffed on that one.

But the Bears won because George Halas was the RB, right?

J/K.

In any case, LT came in and took care of business for the Giants. UNC grad.

The single most devastating football player I ever saw.Lawrence of the Meadowlands....what a beast.

Since when are 2 of the 5 worst passers in the NFL for the 2011 season called 'star quarterbacks'?

Go fish. [8D]

It's why I put the word "star" in quotation marks. I meant by way of media attention.

The Green & White side of the Meadowlands has turned into a circus very quickly. I've met Woody Johnson on a couple of social occasions. I've been to his farm in Hopewell. He's a "star-fucker". He firmly believes that signing the right names (whether they can play anymore or not) is the best way to get the optimum return for his investment. It would seem he has spent some time with Fred Wilpon (NY Mets owner).

No, unfortunately, my team is prison-fucked. Once again, it must be torn down, a legitimate coach must be hired and (preferrably) it should be sold to a new owner.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Okay, the New York Jets, totally oblivious to the angst suffered by John Elway traded for the celebrated Mr. Tebow(giving up two draft choices in the process)well now they have him and I wonder if Ryan and co. are now regretting that decision.
How does this improve the ball club ? Tebow isn't a qb,and yet he is(on the depth chart he is the backup)As a matter of fact the only thing worse than having Tebow as your starting QB just might be having him as your backup
The man can not run a standard offense,he can not go under center and take the snap, suppose Sanchez goes down during a game,Tebow comes in and runs what offense ?
Certainly not the pro set offense Sanchez operates .Tebow,to have any success needs an offense built around his unique skill set.
What was it that old Abe Lincoln said about having the tiger by the tail ?

p.s had to search to page 32 to find this thread, surely there is a better way(I have probably asked this before, but the answer didn't stick)....help :-)

Hillwilliam -> RE: NFL Sob or Jump for Joy (8/7/2012 5:51:17 AM)

It's that time of year again. Cowboys spending Gigabucks and headed for mediocrity. Browns still gonna suck. Dolphins melting down in the heat before the season even starts. Redskins....well, we know about them.

Who's gonna win it all this year folks?

Endivius -> RE: NFL Sob or Jump for Joy (8/7/2012 6:37:58 AM)

New egland and New york both look good.

I'm still worried about the packer defense. If the lions can keep thier players out of trouble and focused they may be a contender this year. I'm hoping baltimore breaks out this season. Ray Rice and the ravens D isn't getting any younger and Flacco carried the shit out of that offense last year. Cowboys problem isn't that they spend money on talent, it's that they spend money on talent that isn't proven or is too fucking old. If JJ would spend his money building a team to win instead of trying to buy a championship he might actually get one. I hope San Francisco and Oakland can put themselves in the spotlight this season and be more than just a flash in the pan.

slvemike4u -> RE: NFL Sob or Jump for Joy (8/7/2012 8:18:21 PM)

Okay,if we are going to jump right to the" who is going to win it this year" question I am going to put my money on Big Blue. The last time Manning and co. were in this position they started out the class of the NFL,10 and 1 thru the first 11....than Burress went out and shot himself in the leg and shot the Giants season to hell in one ingloriously stupid night .
This year, this team, with one of the best coaches in the business, with an "elite" Qb,more quality pass rushers than you can count and hopefully no assholes with guns at clubs the Giants look like a good bet to defend their tittle.

I hate making predictions because injuries play such a part in what goes on but, I think one of the teams you mentioned (Washington) is going to be very improved. I think the NFC East will be the most hotly contended (by the most teams; not necessarily two teams, neck-and-neck) division in football.

I don't have much hope for my team ( JAY !!! EEE !!! TEE !!! ESS !!! JETS!!! JETS!!! JETS!!!). I think they're stuck in the muck on both sides of the ball (and what the fuck is Cromartie thinking?).

I do think that my other team (I am a former New Yorker) is in pretty good shape and flying under the radar, again. Some call it a "lack of respect" but I think the Giants like it when people don't pay attention to them.

Gun-to-my-head; I think it will come down to whoever wins the NFC Conference game and that is a toss-up between NY and Green Bay, in my book.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

DaddySatyr -> RE: NFL Sob or Jump for Joy (8/26/2012 12:53:26 PM)

I wanted to post before the JAY! EEE! TEE! ESS! JETS!!! JETS!!! JETS!!! game, tonight.

I don't harbor any illusions that this team is an offensive juggernaut but, they did change their right tackle and they will be getting a couple of their receivers back on the field.

I think they might actually score a touchdown in this "important" pre-season game.

I just hope the defense pitches a shutout so that there's some hope for a decent season. Good Lord knows my METS haven't given me anything to be happy about, this year.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Hillwilliam -> RE: NFL Sob or Jump for Joy (8/26/2012 12:57:18 PM)

Don't worry Michael. Sanchez will fuck up and the fans will demand Tebow. Tebow will win his first 2 games, thus validating the demands of the fans. Then, opposing defensive coordinators will respond shutting Tebow down for the rest of the season and you will once again resume your rightful place near the bottom of the AFC East just above the Bills.

DaddySatyr -> RE: NFL Sob or Jump for Joy (8/26/2012 1:00:54 PM)

The bills are going to be a force to be reckoned with, actually.

I think you get the idea that I doubt that scenario. I don't. When it comes to my sports teams (METS, JETS, NETS, ISLANDERS), for most of my life, I've had little to get excited about.

I think the JETS will win between 6-9 games, though. I also know that won't be enough to get them even a whiff of a post-season spot.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

slvemike4u -> RE: NFL Sob or Jump for Joy (9/1/2012 5:23:11 PM)

The season starts Wednesday,I'm watching Alabama against Michigan right now,any one feel like making a pre-season Super Bowl pick.
I'm going to kick it off by predicting that Big Blue repeats. The New York Giants came out of the pre-season pretty healthy(though they do have some concerns in the secondary, injury wise)and look like they have all the tools to get back to the big game.More big time pass rushers than any team should be allowed to have and an ELITE QB in Eli who has a bunch of tools at his disposal.
Look for The New York Football Giants to get back to the big game [:)]

servantforuse -> RE: NFL Sob or Jump for Joy (9/5/2012 6:02:55 PM)

I'm picking the Pack. They might have fixed their problem on defense. How they got to 15 and 1 last year is beyond me. For tonight. GO NYG I hate the f#####g cowboys...Mike

Hillwilliam -> RE: NFL Sob or Jump for Joy (9/6/2012 2:19:46 AM)

Cowboys 1-0
Giants 0-1

Who'd a thunk it?

slvemike4u -> RE: NFL Sob or Jump for Joy (9/6/2012 7:47:14 PM)

Don't worry Hill, once December rolls around the Cowboys will revert to type.
