Nope. Not it. Puerto Rico's not a country, so it wouldn't have a navy anyway. And "Phillipine" isn't even a place at all... the name of the place is "Phillipines"....

Nope - geographical, rather than historical. I've actually dropped a couple of very important clues early on.

Current quartet:
Japan
Tonga
Phillipine
Puerto Rico
===============
US had a force: the Phillipine Division consisting of 34th and 57th US Infantry(Phillipine Scouts),
US had a force: During World War II he <he, who, Lance? oops! I lost the google reference> commanded the Puerto Rico Division
New Zealand had a force: Tonga Defense Force (TDF) came into existence at the beginning of World War II in 1939.
Blast if I can find a German (or Italian) Force called the Japan division:

Sorry, but it's not military, cultural, or historical. Entirely geographical. To get to the bottom of it, study the clues I've left so far. The answer is submerged deep within the seemingly offhand comments.

Japan
Tonga
Phillipine
Puerto Rico

are all names of ocean trenches - hence the "deep" clues to get to the "bottom" of the answer which is "submerged deep" within the comments.

I had one ready to go:

Rum
Water
Sugar
Nutmeg

We're looking for the name of the drink which has those four ingredients....

Never heard of a "Hot Benefactor" before but googling that name gives a recipe that includes red wine.
HMMMmmmm....... Nope.

I see where I've misled Hanable.  I'll try again:

Rum
Water
Sugar
Nutmeg

We're looking for the name of the drink which has those four ingredients.... and ONLY those four.
Came across this drink while researching Panda's puzzle about the trenches.  That is to say:  There's some clues in my wrong guesses.

Lance, this girl does not drink nor does she know anything about mixing drinks.  That's why she has not been around.

But, but, fluff, where were you during the trench quartet?

Well, your comment leads to clue #1....... I was looking into historical clues for Panda's quartet.  So, it has nothing to do with your current drinking habits, fluff. LOL!

I thought that might be WAY too big a clue.  I was right.  A form of grog, Bumboo (or Bumbo) was just that.

Go ahead fluffypet.
