Noah,

have you ever climbed to the peak of a high mountain?....moments before you were feeling the ache of your body, you were meticulously watching your footing...each breath labored and intense....

then suddenly with out realizing it, you are on the top.

you stop, hold your body upright and look around....there is a feeling of vastness that stretches into forever, you are almost brought to tears by the beauty and the solitude...the air is so crisp and clean, it nourishes every cell in your body...

this magical moment hangs in the air like the pine tree fragrance wafting under your nose and you stretch your eyes to see eternity, then you close them, because eternity is also inside you...

softly, almost imperceptibly, you become aware of a calm centered peace from deep inside you...you feel love  for, and from, the trees and the rocks, the clouds and the sky...and you are totally and completely at one with the world.....its like that...but better.

thank you susan....i tried to write several times a more sensible answer....but i kept putting my self in Noah's shoes, and knowing him to be a deep thinker, and knowing that thinking and feeling things are so different.....i wanted him to feel submission since it felt to me he was trying to feel it....

I dont know how well that will translate, because he is so clearly wired as a dom, but i hope it offers something of a perspective he can relate to.

The feeling I get when I am being submissive is similar to the feeling I get when I am driving alone and I see a wild animal, such as Moose. It’s a tingly feeling, an excitement. I am in awe. For the duration of time I am in its presence, time stands still and the only two creatures on the whole planet are the moose and myself. I can't help but to have respect for something that invokes that kind of feeling in me.

When I am asked a question or told to do something and I don’t understand what is required of me, the feeling is relative to a near miss. There is a panicky feeling, I stop thinking and wait in anticipation for what will happen next. The way I react to whatever that is, is an instinctive impulse.

Being told to do something that is troubling to me or if I do something that makes Sir unhappy, is equivalent to actually hitting the moose. The more troubling the order, or offence, the worse the accident; it’s an “Oh, shit!” kind of feeling. I start shaking, my heart races and all I want to do is make things right; get through it alive.

Regardless of whichever kind of occurrence happens, when all is said and done, I am left in a peaceful calm, understanding just how small I am in this word. It is a very humbling experience.

I am going to take a stab at responding to Noah's original post as I am a tad lazy to read all the responses.

First off, let me state that presently I am without another in my life, life is hence lacking a essential substance to make it full.  To even the degree that I lack motivation and will for life.  It might sound a tad dramatic but really is not.  When I was intensely involved in a previous relationship where and in which I became mentally at peace feeling secure with the one I was with, I felt alive and driven to reach beyond my own set goals.  My energy levels where never exhausted, and each day was like a new day of discovery ready to be explored without haste.  Mentally and physically I had life, since the relationship deteriation and eventual separation I have only been going through the motions.  Little motivates me although my vision is not blurred, I certainly no longer feel full, the emptiness is a void however that just lingers on my energy levels.  When I observe people giving their respects to loved ones whom past on for whatever reason, and tears are drawn to my eyes as much as there is a choking in my throat, I believe I am able to relate well with that emptiness they now feel.

i agree! i am a passionate hiker and explorer and have experienced exactly what you have described :-) While i connect this experience and others like it to my oneness with the Divine and not my submission, it was beautiful to read all the same and feeds my need for another adventure ...

[One of the loveliest descriptions I've heard of the feeling of submission had everything to do with tears, and the end of tears. Lemme rummage through my experimental notes here ...

It Feels Like

when you're so upset
you can't stop crying.
And you cry and you cry
and you cry
until your face is swollen
and you can't breath and
then you cry some more.

But then you don't need
to cry
anymore
and you just fall asleep
exhausted
but comforted.

It feels like
the bit between
ending crying
and falling asleep...
for me anyway.

i can relate to this feeling but would add - for me there is always a very deep and releasing "sigh" that occurs right after the crying - i would say that would be very similar to what submission feels like to me...the moment in between when i realize i don't have or want any "control" and that feeling of utter freedom because nothing else matters ~

This is a bit of a *non-reply* really.

While I write about this and feel so much about it, there's something about it that is so precious that I wouldn't express it on a forum to be *viewed* by others....which is quite telling in itelf, for me.

I can express myself on most subjects quite easily and fairly freely and it's interesting for me to think about why I have this degree of reluctance.
