Yup, you are right, guilty as charged. I did miss that part. It really might have been better to put that disclaimer with the original post however. I don't fault you for having opinions, and as I said, language can be a tricky thing. It may be that that is what you meant to say all along, but its really much harder to see an intent like that AFTER the fact. People see the generalization first.

This will be a fast reply and is not addressed to anything save the OP.

Although not a Mistress, a Domme or even a decent Top....or pair of pants for that matter...i rather admire Gor.  Much like what has been expressed by the Goreans that have chimed in with a word or two of both well intended advice and insight into the world/seperation of their own lifestyles following the philosophy and hopeful standards of the books, it is the ideology of personal honor still meaning something that appeals to me.

Personal honor, standing behind one's word as well as striving to be the best one can are...noble goals in life to have, Gor or Lifestyle...

Even the Serves of the kajira....deeply appeal to my sense of visual aesthetics that a woman is a creation of utter beauty and that in all acts she is still a liveing, breathing masterpiece.  But...that is because in that aspect, the serves, the demeanor and the overall mindset of the slaves....echoes Geisha of old in ways.

And i will admit...it takes a very particular mindset to romanticize the notion of a woman being taken from her home, kidnapped, enslaved and thrilling in her heart at all of it.  Some submissives and slaves DO have that mindset but some is not the same as all for either women or men.

For one thing, the spelling of the two words is completely different.  Still, after reading all of the posts good and bad, what stuck out the most is that Gor is indeed treated like the red-headed stepchild to borrow a phrase.  They are both just a coin to my mind and on one side you have Gor, on the other BDSM.  (gets the flame-retardant suit for that statement)  As Sir Nosathro pointed out, each does the same thing in terms of the technical and play even if both have only a varying difference in the mindset.

Frankly, i am uncertain if a Master (and i am using the honorifc in a sexually neutral sense) of Gor or a Master of BDSM quibbles which particular Master they are when in the depths of teasing, pleasing, punishing, training or loving a little one.

Frankly, if you have that much time to think....wow.  Tell me your secret please?  $19.95 plus S+H?  SOLD!

Oh...and to Sir Bull....*sinks and offers a heavily lacquered tray sporting a cup of honey sweetened milk and freshly baked discs of fragrant chocolate chip cookies*

...i couldn't resist Sir...Whimsy made me do it!!!

19 pages, WOW!!!!!

After all the posts and all the debate, the only conclusion left is for everyone to respect the other's world view and go their merry way. There are too many people out there wanting to put a stop to all of us and what we do.

To everyone I just want to say "Live long and prosper!"

Despite your fascitious disbelief, your attempts to stir up trouble again as it was settling down, and your attempts to ignore valid points that were being made - yes, this is indeed a discussion.

The books really arent that bad. I had never heard about them before joining this forum. I read as many of them as I could. They have been out of print for a while and were rather hard to find. I read a few of them as E-books and I have to say I liked Priest Kings the best. Would  I,  personally, base a lifestyle on them? No, I wouldn't. But I wouldn't base my lifestyle on Harry Potter, The Story of O or the Bible either. Some of the ideals in the book I have no problem with, I think men SHOULD be aware of their Honor as a tangaible item, I like the idea of a Homestone yadda yadda but I wasnt "struck" by any of the ideas enough to embrace them. Though Master does like some of the postures I picked up from them *grins*

Well, after all is said and done, it appears that some women are dominant and some men are and at least as far as the sheets go, whether we like that or not, it is a people business.

Much as I love you or hate you, I am indeed better for have knowing you  all.

THIS ENDS MY EVERTHING IS BEAUTIFUL IN ITS OWN WAY PHASE, btw.......

My God I made it to the end, someone tell me that there is an award for that, a cookie, something, just a little lovvvvvvvvvvvvve would be nice. Oh, by the way, I only posted here cause I thought Mistress was a gender neutral term. (smirks some and winks)

Gotta love me,

Bull

Mistress Bull,

I'll be glad to give you some lovvvvvve.  I expect you will look really hot in your slinky new black leather dress and sequined high heels.  We can have a great time going out on the town as Mistresses together, maybe even pick up some cute slave bois/grrls.     I think you'll make a wonderfully sexy genderbent Mistress!

Looking forward to our date for hot loving (which I'm sure will be scheduled directly after the ice skating party in Hell),

Naja

This is pretty much my first post ever besides my entry at the introduction thread, and my spellcheck is busted. I tried my best to edit any spelling errors, send me a quick message if you find any within, I would appreciate it:

Gor...wow...what a topic. Suppose any topic with such a controversial nature is difficult to reply to. On one hand, you have many differing points of view on the other you have a lot of misunderstanding about the subject on both sides of the field.

I beleive, as human beings, we are all vastly different and have different ideals that are contengent on our desire for happiness. In our search for what makes us happy, several are drawn to Gorian ideals or a Gor themed roleplaying style of domination. Whereas this thread was originally developed with an infasis on the roleplaying veriety of Gor; "fantacy world of Gor", how I would adress the question "How do 'i' feel about Gor?", would be as follows:

First off, those who participate in the more fantastical parts of Gor, with the theme of roleplay enjoyment, idealy have an interest in roleplay. A topic I could very easily talk hours about, sence roleplay is a passion of mine as well. It is also obvious that those who participate in it have a strong desire to control women or be completely controlled. I would even go so far as to say, a desire to own them or be quite litterally owned by another. [pretends to be all shocked and then smiles]

A submissive would also have her own reasons. Although I am not Gor, I can admit easily that I have fantisized and emagined what it would have been like to be born into a world where slavery is a constant for women. But as a disclaimer, I always emagined there would be a tall dark stranger that would both abuse me and love me, seeing things in me he never thought emaginable in a woman. In that, my desire for happiness is to be seen as a diamond in a roth.

Whatever the reasons for participation, I can garantee the motive is all the same, personal happiness. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone, I would say let it be. If you are interested in Gor, then I hope it brings you the type of happiness that you crave. For, happiness is defined by the one that desires.

Yes, but I simply couldn't get him to shave them first, so he had to wear fishnets.  They clashed a bit with the sequinned heels.

One Mistress's Opinion of Gor:

BLEH!!!!  No desire to learn more than I have already, because those who I've met in person who follow gor are most often people I do not mesh well with.  Perhaps if I ever meet someone I like who follows it I'll do some research, but for now.... I'm a dominant woman and I generally don't respect anyone who kow-tows to me because I'm female, and I don't respect anyone who kow-tows to men just because they're men.  *shrug*  Basic curteousy and respect are given to all until they prove to be undeserving, but the followers of Gor generally put me off pretty quickly with their treatment of me just because I'm female..... reminds me of growing up as a girl into computers, sports, and outdoorsy stuff.... BLEH!
