sub4hire,

Sorry for the confusion, you didn't say to use a dull blade, HOWEVER, i was told by my room mate or someone else, that i should...that's what i meant.

i recently picked up the Noxema triple blades and some shaving gel, so, i'll see what happens.

I find there are four things which are very important.

First shave EVERYDAY. Hair is sort of extruded and hardens. It is much softer the first 24 hours than the next.

Second use a cartridge razor like the Gillette Mach 3 or the Shick quattro

Third, heat the skin and hair with very hot water (hot moist towels) to soften both hair and skin

4th Use special soaps (I personally find shaving gels to be NO GOOD) I use a body wash soft soap made by Olay which has vitamins and skin conditioners in the soap. This stuff is far more slippery

Heating hair and skin should be done for at least 5 to 10 minutes. If your blade gets dull quickly you have not softened the hair enough first.

Electric razors will tend to cause rashes, because they hold bacteria.

If you have razor burn, then let the skin heal for a week or two. Once teh skin is healed completely, then you can follow the steps above.

Ah and one final thought. Expensive but really wonderful is laser hair removal.

This is a permanent solution, never need a razor again.

Try to find the women's version of these. Blades made for men are made different and are a different shape then blades made for women. The women's blades have more moisturizing and lubricating strips and the heads are generally made to glide over the more tender areas of a woman's body. They have a Venus and Venus Divine, which are the women's version of the Mach 3 and they now have a women's version of the Quattro too.

I have been shaving pretty much since the hairs appeared!! i have tried many different things... i have very sensitive skin too. i use the Mach3 razor (buy in bulk at costco, women's versions i have not purchased in awhile because of their higher cost, so unfair in my opinion for basically the same thing. i am a frugal girl) and i use Aveeno shaving gel, the unscented. The do have a 'slow down hair growth soy something rather one' but i havent used it yet, an extra few dollars a can. i find the unscented very rich and nice... Definitely a better shave for me than any of the other gels or creams or even conditioner. i use it all over my body now. One thing i used to use was noxema jar cream... been a long time.. maybe i'd try it again, just to compare. i have never tried the Intuition shavers... but think i will ask for one to try. i thought they would be too big to use on such a small tender area... but it shouldnt hurt too much to try. i dont like to use chemicals, and like to keep things unscented... that helps me a lot. i always do shaving as my last task in the shower, and only shave every 3 to 4 days or so. I have never tried waxing, yet, but hope to! Laser sounds great.. an idea to look into as well.

i used to use Nair/neet on my body.. but cannot justify the chemicals leaching into my body a couple times a week just for smoothness. I think about all the different hormone/medication creams we put on our bodies that are supposed to be absorbed into the bloodstream on purpose... even nicotine patches..etc... so i can just imagine what is going into us with Nair and neet.. etc.. just my opinion. :) i am going to eventually try the 'natural' versions of shaving creams.. i use natural shampoos/conditioners already... jason brand one of my favorite and aubrey organics.

Enough rambling from me...
be well,
amy

I don't know if anyone else has psted this, but if you wash yourself with something abrasive- not anything crazy like steel wool- but like a scrubby sponge, it helps prevent razor rash.

I've got this Spongebob Squarepants body sponge I bought at Wal-Mart and it works everytime. I recommend you try it. ^_^

Hey, has anyone tried bikini zone? Does it work?

hey i have one word... hope it helps....

VEET....

its the same as shaving jsut not with an accual razor...

Agreed. I have been using Veet for over a year now, and no burn. I would suggest using the creme for sensitive skin only. The hair grows back softer and I only use it every third to forth day.

Always use warm or hot water with shaving cream. Fresh blade. preferably a mach three. Try shaving down at first, and wait a few days in between to let skin heal a bit. Aplly lotion or light aftershave after. You should have anymore problems. Anymore advice needed kitten?

Personally, i find that i don't get as close a shave with a brand new razor as i do with one that's been used once or twice. Maybe that's because i use a Venus...i don't know.

You know, i was just thinking and i remember that the last time i was shaved, my Master did it with electric clippers and i didn't get razor rash. *nod*

I am going to disagree with you.

My daughter bought 5 or 6 different "women's razors" and was always complaining aobut quality.

I let her use my Mach3 and then had to buy her one.

Both my daughters use Mach3's now and makes life simpler since I can buy the 30 cartridge packs a Sam's

Here is my recommendation after many years of painstaking research and many $$$$$
Nothing less than a Mach 3 turbo will do, use a fresh razor each time.
Only use King of Shaves Gel with menthol, it feels lovely and cool afterwards. (Target)
12 hours after the shave (not before, it stings, though some of you might like to suffer for your Dom/mes pleasure) you should dab with Tendskin (purchase online)
If that doesn't work for you, nothing will.

Can Tendskin be purchased anywhere offline that Y/you know of?

Maybe it's just me then. I tried using men's razors (I get to try all the newest razors, both men and women, for free through my work) and they always rip my skin apart. I have very sensative skin though so maybe that makes a difference, I dunno

I've seen it in Walgreens and CVS stores on occasion. Check your local pharmacy.

I have extremely sensitive skin and mark and welt easily - but I cannot use the womens versions of the Mach without ripping my skin to shreads.

So I always use(when I shave) Mach 3 and something called King of Shaves with aloe applied afterwards.

Otherwise I use NADS, now.

Always followed by pure aloe and that is massaged on regularly(smoothed following the growth, not against because this only agrevates), especially in the bikini region.

I also cheer for the Mach3. I read that tip a few years ago online and have sworn by it ever since. When I have tried others, either women versions or other men's razors, I also have the problem of them ripping my skin up. The Mach3 just works best for me.

However, I did just try my first Brazilian wax last Thursday. So if anyone wondered what the screaming was coming from the Chicago area -- that was me, lol.

Seriously, it wasn't that bad, but definitely got my attention! What I was pleased about was that the initial sting only lasted a moment and then it was over. (Until the next rip of course, lol.) I plan on doing it again, I'll have to see how long it lasts though too. I don't like the idea of having to let it grow out before doing it again, but will see how it goes.

I appreciated all the comments on thos topic about the benefits of waxing, it helped me decide to give it a try. The waxer was very friendly and we joked about being so "personal" with someone in that kind of situation and how different people react. She made me feel very at ease and that certainly helped. Although I must admit that my play experience probably made it easier for me to feel comfortable doing it than it would have several years ago when I was "pre-scene/play". I'm much more used to the idea now of someone saying.......spread your legs, put this knee up here, put this hand here, and now I'm going to smear something very hot on you and then cause you great pain.

Be well,

harmony

Berlin,
I've used nair now and then in the past. It always seems to leave that stench for days later. Does the new stuff not leave a stench? Have they finally figured out how to scent it properly?
Does the minimizing lotion actually work? When it first came out I used it on my legs...nothing. Never tried it anywhere else.

It really worked well for my daughter in law on her facial hair, so I used it. I had a grand total of six hairs on mah legs! It wasn't even worth the bother of shaving! lol They are gone! I used it for about six weeks, twice a day, morning and night...just as I would lotion. I've been attempting to track her down to get the name of it. As soon as I do, I'll post it!

I do believe the name of the lotion is Jergens Naturally Smooth Shave Minimizing Moisturizer. I just picked up a bottle of it today, curious to see if it works.

Something else you might wat to try is Curel smooth legs, it works fairly well as long as you keep using it, even on mens faces ;)
