Being dismissed, abandoned, left seems to be a recurring theme here.
That's why I consider a Collar to be *permanent* and if I ever Collared a submissive I would also marry her too.
As well as giving her a permanent sense of security, Collaring and Marriage would establish my absolute ownership over her too.
Then when I said to her; "You're not going anywhere little girl!" it would be true.
I just don't get how some people can give out a Collar and then 2 months later "take it back" and give it to someone else!
Yup, abandonment seems to be the biggest fear.

i would have to say that, although i don't fear too much in this world, being restrained gaged and blindfolded, and then (going against all my hard limits and any agreements made) being forcibly used by another male. i would definately put a bullet in my head once i got free after such a horrible ordeal.

my biggest fear was becoming so reliant on my Master that if it ended i would want to die
lol 2 years later it did i wont ever lose myself like that again

my biggest fear would be my Master releasing me(but that would not happen cause he says he is never letting me go). So i guesse in the BDSM area i don't have any other fears cause my Master and i discuss them before they become fully formed.

I am really not sure. Anything I thought I would be scared about end up not being the case. Doesn't help that I lack experience in bdsm play with others to determine the bdsm related fears.

Lets see, in terms of play, doing some edge play extended bondage/captivity scenes and trusting that nothing happens to Her.

I know this might sound strange coming from a man but it is they are real the I'll never find the special lady to spend my life with. What will happen when my Mom dies which may happen some time soon she has lung cancer. will I ever find a better paying job with benifits so ends will meet. sound bad but they are top of the list fear wise in here it's diffrent another story

Sometimes I take questions too literally but ...

1) My biggest fear is dying, and there is no way I am going to escape that fate.
It's not bad to think realistically about it because it can put other fears in perspective.

2) Second worse is either nuclear war or looking like a fool - and in a survey of college students, the latter came in at number one.

3) As far as losing a treasured intimate relationship - been there and I lived. Refer to #1.

I wrote an essay once on a monster that I grew up with, and its name was "Something Bad." If I didn't do everything thing right, "Something Bad" was going to happen to me. "Something Bad" is going to happen to me (see #1, above), so it's crazy to spend time fretting the phantoms of lesser misfortune. IMO.

You know Mary, there was a time back before people lived in cities and had cars, and roads and modern conveniences that if a relationship ended death would come. In other words, being abandoned meant death. It is why I think people hate being shunned so much. It is why I think we fear abandonment so deeply... because in evolutionary terms, being kicked out of the tribe meant you did not survive. People roamed and settled in small groups, and getting along was a matter of life or death.

I think that is why abandonment is still so scary to so many.. especially those of us who have abandonment issues from childhood, as I do in the association of the death of a beloved parent..

Just some thoughts wandering about my melon when I read your candid post.
