Past that a serious fear I have is heights.

Sometimes I take questions too literally but ...

1)  My biggest fear is dying, and there is no way I am going to escape that fate.
   It's not bad to think realistically about it because it can put other fears in perspective.

and our choices are?

2)  Second worse is either nuclear war or looking like a fool - and in a survey of college students, the latter came in at number one.

I would rather look the fool than a war of that destruction

3)  As far as losing a treasured intimate relationship - been there and I lived.  Refer to #1.

I wrote an essay once on a monster that I grew up with, and its name was "Something Bad."  If I didn't do everything thing right, "Something Bad" was going to happen to me.  "Something Bad" is going to happen to me (see #1, above), so it's crazy to spend time fretting the phantoms of lesser misfortune.  IMO.

I think it is time to put the monster from childhood to rest and resolve concentrating on life and enjoying it.
