this might be slightly off topic, but i've always wondered, why are overweight, even significantly overweight, women often referred to, and refer to themselves, as curvy?? fat does not equal curves. i know of a great many overweight women who possess not a single curve...zero hips, no discernible waist, butt as flat as a board. in fact, i can think of many more thin or slender women who are curvy. so where did the overweight=curvy thing come from??

Have you seen a large woman naked? We are curvy. *points at her breasts* It's a curve. *points at her hips* They curve. *points at her stomach* It curves out but yes it does curve.

Am not bony.  I have curves like other women too; I just have a small frame.

Don't diss smaller women.  Two wrongs do NOT make a right.

Some women are curvier with fat depending on their body structure.

But for the most part it's just a euphemism.

actually, yes, i have seen a great many larger women nude. and a great many have NOT been curvy, tho of course some are, i suspect those women would be curvy regardless of their weight. fat does not = curves, just as slender does not = lack of curves, that's all i'm saying.

my mother was short, about 5 feet, and i would guess she weighed 250. "fat" if you will. her large breasts and portruding stomach did not make curves, rather they just added some lumps to her otherwise rectangular form. not to mention her butt, which defied all logic in its supreme flatness. how, exactly, is that curvy? now, i can think of some larger women who i'd define as curvy...many plus sized fashion models are curvy, for example, because being proportionate is important in that industry, regardless of one's size. and that's what curvy is about anyway...a proportionate, feminine silhouette?? if a protruding stomach is all it takes to define onself as "curvy" then the many men out there with huge beer guts also qualify, right?

yes ur right a beer belly is curvey and cuddley and cute and a good pillow i would much rather be with a bigger man than a skinny man because there is more to cuddle and love and worship!!!!!!!!!!!

make sense to me! lol. i've been curvy ever since i "blossomed" at 13, even when i used to be very boney. now that i've gained weight since being older, i'm just slender and curvy. my hips won't let me be anything but curvy, no matter how little or much i weigh.

LOL... well, not to laugh, but, to me, I just use the term simply because I find "fat" distasteful... Skinny is distasteful to me as well. My best-friend since we were babies is really very thin, and she hates the word "skinny" like I dislike "fat".

I do have curves though... as well as more slender women... women are all curvey I think... right? But, to me, I just don't like the word fat... BBW is so overused to me ... I just can't think of anything else to describe myself... Exaggerated curves?

Anybody got suggestions? Pleasently Plump? Makes me think of an old famers wife... hmmmmm....

also this isn't directed to anyone in particular, but some seem to have taken offense at my comments and i truly meant none. i have nothing against overweight women, in fact i think a lot of larger women are quite beautiful. my thing is the whole fat = curves idea...it just never made sense to me, when one can be curvy at whatever size, and one can be heavy without curves.
