Everything is political, if you don't like it, go back to sleep.

Well, apparently even the ability to do that peacefully is in question, at least if I were trying to do it in a place designed for sleep....like a hotel room.

Makes me wonder why cities have noise ordinances that come into play at a certain time of night.

As I said initially.......the same morons with the same tired bullshit.

yanno, I often wonder about people who call names

juliaoceania -> RE: Turning every thread into a political debate (5/7/2007 1:53:34 PM)

stating this to no one in particular

it is refreshing to see so many sentiments about the behavior of others that harms no one. Opinions are beautiful, this thread is beautiful, all you people posting here are beautiful! Keep on being who you are!

Awwww, I am tired of fighting! I would rather spend my energy in more positive directions...

Although my Daddy says it is better to be hated than ignored, I am not so sure I agree with that though

kittinSol -> RE: Turning every thread into a political debate (5/7/2007 2:05:10 PM)

julia, you are refreshingly positive. Your comments are admirably empathetic. I am learning :-)

I may have a heart attack, someone actually thinks I am nice around here, maybe I am slipping[:D]

Thanks, I am really trying to be a more positive person these days, and it has been paying off in very big ways in my personal and professional life.

LaTigresse -> RE: Turning every thread into a political debate (5/7/2007 2:15:25 PM)

Hey, I never specified which morons.....but if the shoe fits.

caitlyn -> RE: Turning every thread into a political debate (5/7/2007 2:17:01 PM)

I think you are probably a very warm and caring person julia ... just for the record. I enjoy when you talk about your son. You can really feel the mother's pride and love.

It's neither yours, no anyone else's fault that we don't always agree, and even less our fault that a message board forum usually makes posts look far worse then the were intended.

I wonder sometimes, when people are flaming each other on here, if they are laughing like a nutcase in person. [:D]

caitlyn, I don't appreciate you calling us a "nut-case"! I'm reporting you to Mod 11!

People should post what they feel like where they feel like, because that is their freedom to do as they like...
<snipped

I always wonder something, seriously, why people become offended by what other people do that has nothing to do with them.

Isn't that why the forums are labeled? I find it really frustrating to be discussing one thing, then have it hijacked to one particular topic.. over and over.
It's great that it doesn't bother you but it bothers some of us.

It doesn't, but thanks for thinking about me!

I could think of many many snarky things to say to you LaT, but you know, it just isn't in me. I will note something though, I did not take your post to be about me, I suppose maybe now I can choose to feel bad that it seemingly was directed at me, but I take responsibility for my own emotions... funny thing, most people have trouble with that concept, so they would rather control others.

In the "OFF TOPIC" forum, is it possible to be "OFF TOPIC"?

I am a warm caring person. I have coworkers that see me as warm and caring. My family sees me that way, and my Daddy definitely does. I like to present myself as a caring person, but I have learned something, people generally do not have an accurate picture of who I am in the real world in many ways, how can I expect strangers to know who I am?

I like your posts Caitlyn, and even when I disagree with you, I try to respect you as a person. I think you are an exceptional young woman with your intellect.

I always wonder something, seriously, why people become offended by what other people do that has nothing to do with them. It is really easy to find things to become offended over (I certainly have been guilty of it myself), but seriously, why be offended, pestered, annoyed by words posted here?

There are a lot of more important things to be troubled over, in my view (mind you, opinions are like assholes, and mine stinks about as much as the average) if people offend you or annoy you because of how they choose to act, block em! They are not hurting anyone by expressing a political view.

Obviously this only applies to specific troubling posts..........or posts that specific people find troubling?

juliaoceania -> RE: Turning every thread into a political debate (5/7/2007 2:37:36 PM)

It applies to everything,... I am basking in your freedom to express what a moron you think I am LaT... Peace be with you

LadyIce -> RE: Turning every thread into a political debate (5/7/2007 2:41:24 PM)

julia, like those that say "pot kettle black"?
thats my favorite expression around here.

Mercnbeth -> RE: Turning every thread into a political debate (5/7/2007 2:43:11 PM)

Maybe just because I just saw the SNL retrospective but this comes to mind:

quote:

Stuart Smalley V/O: I deserve good things. I am entitled to my share of happiness. I refuse to beat myself up. I am attractive person. I am fun to be with.

Announcer: "Daily Affirmation with Stuart Smalley". Stuart Smalley is a caring nurturer, a member of several 12-step programs, but not a licensed therapist.

[ open on Stuart giving himself a pep talk in his full-length mirror ]

Stuart Smalley: I'm going to do a terrific show today! And I'm gonna help people! Because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and, doggonit, people like me!

Stuart Smalley: You know what? I think this is the best show I've ever done. And you know what? I deserve it! [ turns to his mirror ] Because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and, doggonit, people like me!

btw - Never-mind caitlyn. My office manager just came in wondering why I was laughing and called me a "nut-case" too!

One of mine also! My mom used to say that quite often in different situations...
