Is it unthinkable to respect a person as a 'Master/Dom/etc' but not want them for YOUR 'Master/Dom/Etc'? I think so. I can respect a Master/Dom/Etc without wanting them to be MY Master/Dom/Etc. Would you want a 21 Master with limited experience for yourself? Maybe. Maybe not. But you can still respect the person and not pass down judgement that they are UNWORTHY just because you wouldn't submit to them.

Another two cents.

well said, Brian.. thats pretty much the concept I was trying to figure out how to say..LOL

I have seen and know personally numerous middle age kinky folks who don't know shit about domination and submission, in my opinion. Many of them, to be honest. You can have lots of experience and all of it can be worthless.

I've also met some youngsters who are surprisingly well informed, experienced and savvy beyond their years about all of this. I don't recognize any formal cutoff age and I would quickly dismiss any "Master/Mistress/Goddess" who strived to do so.

You are dismissed.

So you say that someone can not see a lot in 21 years.  Let me give you a little lesson on that.  By the time I was 21, I had been raped 3 times, in two abusive relationships, had 2 miscarriages one of which was twins which almost claimed my life, had been through depression so bad that it landed me in a psych ward for 30 days.  I was also pregnant with what would be my first child to be born alive (born just 4 days before my 22nd birthday).  I also (inadvertently) had people who were older than me submitting to me when I was 12.  Yeah, I was young.  Yeah, I was just learning the ways of the BDSM world but I had a VERY dominant personality, I still do to this day.  Which is why at 24 I have had only one Master (who I am still with AND engaged to be married to) who fathered my child and has helped me get myself back on more emotionally and mentally stable footing.

You do not know these people this person you are speaking of.  Just because you wouldn't be able to submit to them does not mean that you can judge them based solely on your age as compared to theirs.  As you can see above, by 21 I had seen and lived through more than most people do in their entire lives.  Don't judge a book by the cover... or better yet, don't judge a wine by the vintage, youth quite often is a good thing that is EVER so fleeting.

I didn't say someone could not see a lot in 21 years. There are exceptions to everything.  And I'm sure that every single person on CM who has had responsibilities thrust upon them is going to tell us all about it.  Doesn't change anything.  I'm not really sure how your mental instabilities that someone else has helped you overcome bolsters your argument.

I find it really interesting the assumptions that you make about me.  You know nothing of my life either.  Does it matter?  Not a bit.  You live in your world, I live in mine.  Go forth and be happy.

Cali

Perhaps you missed my previous questions, as you have responded to others posted since then.  Or perhaps it was less an oversight than a convenience.

In either event your reply would be most welcome and illuminating.  Thanking you in advance.

I do not take people seriously based upon their age, race, religion, height, weight or anything else other than their behavior.  As a result there are some 21 year olds that I take seriously, and some 40 year olds I do not.

I totally agree with this statement. I have had far better younger men Doms than older. It depends on the person, the dynamic and the chemistry.

Thanks for your answers.

Well, my age hasn't been too much of an inhibitor. Quite a few people take me serious, including a wide range of middle aged adults. People seem to take my opinions and my posts seriously.

My girl seems to take me serious and I think thats pretty much the only real serious requirement for having a relationship.

I can think of a huge list of things that I think are not worth being taken serious in a dominant that fall before age. For example, people with self appointed Internet titles, with the grandeur the title, the less serious I take them. I tend to take people with Goddess in front of their name the least serious.

The important question that always comes to mind when people post this kind of silliness that I don't take very serious is this.

How exactly do you think people acquire all this experience that is supposed to be a requirement for being a Master? Playing jacks and hopscotch until 30 when the age requirement is met to be taken serious?

You also seem to be implying that there is some degree of qualification or standard present before one can take the title of Master in BDSM.

I find that to not be very serious and kind of silly. Feel free to read some posts by MasterG of the House of G, Masterlink, and MasterLDeSade if you want to find out why I don't take that serious.

I would think it would be a sad world if they were taken more seriously simply because of their age.

Master and I are both 25. He has more experience in the lifestyle then Dom's I have played with who are in their 40s.  Age is just a number, why should we judge somebody on a number seems pretty silly to me. So many people discover this lifestyle in their 40s or 50s should we view the 40 year old who has just picked it up as being better then the 25 year old who has been learning and living the lifestyle for eight years?

and another thing why is it okay for there to be young sub/slaves but not young Masters? Talk about double standards.

Well in my case, yes, I like men my own age though... I do not find younger men sexually attractive. Also, I do not think BDSM experience makes someone more domworthy... just my opinion though.

You guys are seriously responding to someone who had a misspelled signature line for a long time and who regularly uses the term "chucklz"?

I believe English is a second language for her... so when I learn to write in Dutch as well as she writes in English, I will judge her

i admit this is sort of one of my pet peeves, and i also admit to not reading the entire thread.

that being said--there is no magical number, and if there were a more 'mature' dom stating this particular opinion, and a younger dom who actually showed me respect at my age i would take the younger dom any day.

like someone else said--there is no magical number and maturity doesn't necessarily come with age.

To each their own, I suppose.  Lots of people have their own justification for their being Prejudiced about age, race, culture, gender, sexual preference...whatever.

From Wiki: "The word prejudice refers to prejudgment: i.e. making a decision before becoming aware of the relevant facts of a case or event."

May I NEVER reject the opportunity to be open enough to hear, listen and learn about another person and what it is that makes them thrive.

I understand preferences.  I also understand self justification.

Which is better for us...to say when asked..... "this person is not worthy" or "great, good for them, that is not for me"

Perhaps the self righteous feel ok with non consentually putting another person's age/skill down....that is not for me.

If a 21 yr old has someone who will/does/wants to call them master, so be it.

oh...the pursuit of happiness, huh?

You are absolutely right...Tae Kwon Do and other watered down martial arts have been awarding the rank of 'Master' to people who are barely old enough to shave, let alone run a proper school.

Disgraceful says I.

The first dominant man in my life was 21, to my 25.  By that age he had been in the Navy, been around the world a few times, had a 'servant' in Japan, and took over my world, life, heart, and body.  Yeah.  a 21 yr old can be a master if you see them as such.

Oddly enough I don't. We have children having children, and that is not something new, not all that long ago in this country marrying age was 13 and a woman of 15 was considered an old maid. Yeah there are a lot of 21 year olds I wouldn't hand a dog to to train, but there are a lot of 50 year olds I wouldn't as well. It all depends on the person. Life not just nature shapes the person, man, woman and child and some are mature far beyond their age.

My oldest son has had subs since he was 18. His age and older. He is married to his slave now and is 38 years old. I don't think he was ever a child in the way most people picture childhood. He was always responsible, self motivated and while not always under control of himself, rapidly took up those reins when he hit 18. He knew professional and non-pro Domina and Doms when he was a child, knew people from all walks of life and his favorite babysitter was a woman who was blind since birth. He could never put anything over on her, but he loved trying. He doesn't drink, gamble, do drugs or smoke. I never questioned his right to be a Master, once he Mastered himself it was only a matter of time.
