I'm not a practitioner of any established religion but I identify as Gnostic Christian and a good deal of my friends describe me as Pagan. That said; I believe that there's some kind of higher power and I believe that power has endowed most of us with a conscience through which we can receive "advice" from that power. For those to whom a conscience wasn't given, we have laws - which I believe were also authored, essentially, by that higher power. Some laws may border on the ridiculous (a certain mayor of New York City, trying to legislate that we have to buy two sodas instead of one) and, of course, we violate them (speeding, parking violations, etc.), knowing that there may be a forfeit of some kind involved. Therefore, I believe that if something doesn't violate our conscience AND a law, we're probably on firm spiritual ground. The only addendum I can add to that is that if something bothers our conscience, we probably need to re-examine what it is we're doing. Peace and comfort, Michael
