Greetings,

I' don't understand this thought. Does anyone actually believe the Right wants the U.S.A. to "fail" under any circumstance? I, speaking for the Right and I can because I am Right, do not hate Obama, he is a brilliant professor and a sorta ok senator and the worst President ever, he lost the debate by a margin larger than any President in history. We are frankly scared he will do something we may never recover from.

Well wishes,
Arturas

Short answer.......YES
And I'm pretty fucking pissed about it.
It will be a cold day in hell before those pricks ever again get my vote!

Gee, I wonder if the Feds will be telling the people in the Western part of South Carolina that their unemployment rate dropped from 17 % down to 7.8 %?
Gee Mike, you seem a little grumpy as of late, no "tingle?"

If I'm understanding correctly, the "unemployment truthers" (not my coinage, alas, but I love it anyway) are accusing the BLS of politically motivated fraud.

That's a serious charge. Anyone offering actual evidence to back it up?

Try telling the truth pops.

46 SOUTH CAROLINA 9.6

47 NORTH CAROLINA 9.7

Marion County, the only county with unemployment there above 17% is in the eastern part of the state... not far from you

Jack Welch appears to be backpedaling a bit:

In an interview with MSNBC on Friday afternoon, former General Electric CEO Jack Welch admitted that he had “no evidence” to back up his claim that the Obama administration manipulated September’s jobs report.

“I have no evidence to prove that, I just raised the question,” Welch told host Chris Matthews. “I have no evidence of corruption, none whatsoever.”

Some of us want to see unemployment go down, Mike, not a horseshit declaration that they have found a way to finesse the math, and pretend it has.

We need to get this economy moving forward, building momentum, becoming the rising tide that lifts all boats, and President Obama is just as clueless about how to do that today, as he was when the stimulus was going to keep unemployment below 8%.

Has BLS altered the methodology from what it used in prior reports? Ezra Klein is reporting in WaPo that the current figure is only three-tenths of a percent lower than last month's. That doesn't sound like much of a finesse.

Perhaps you should have so advised your republican representatives of this want when the President was inaugurated .
Seems you and your conservative brethren sat on your hands for the last 4 years and have only now discovered the economy is in a slump

We got off our hands pretty well in 2010, Mike. The President may talk some lofty goals (at least when he has a teleprompter), but his methodology is shit, and the ideological rectal-cranial inversion is only getting worse.

DC; thanks for the link. Today was a good day, but busy as hell, and I missed my lunchtime surf. I wish I'd seen this article sooner. The stuff that did make it through the noise of the day is well debunked, and I'll go back to what I said to begin with courtesy of Ezra's helpful graph. This is something to gloat about?

Isn't it amazing that most of the same folks who were gleefully crowing like a bunch of carrion birds when the numbers were high are now calling bullshit as they drop?

Only when the numbers offered are bullshit... You can't tell me you buy these numbers Bill.

quote:

By Randall Forsyth

Curb your enthusiasm over the surprise 0.3 percentage point drop in September’s unemployment rate, to 7.8%. It was largely because of a surge in the number of part-time workers who would really rather have (or need) full-time jobs.

According to the survey of households, from which the jobless rate is derived, 873,000 people found jobs last month–which is a huge gain. But, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 600,000 of those workers settled for part-time employment for economic reasons, not by choice.

The so-called underemployment rate, dubbed U-6 by the BLS, which takes into account these involuntary part-timers and those “marginally attached” to the labor force, showed no improvement whatsoever. It still stands at a dismal 14.7%, only a marginal improvement since last May, while the headline jobless rate is down significantly from 8.2%.[ /quote]

[Barrons]

Like I said, you guys are celebrating temporary seasonal part time jobs... Yippie!

Party on Barack, party on progressives.

Yeah, and sent even more hard line obstructionists to Washington.
Do you expect the thanks of a grateful nation for that most un-helpful act ?
Perhaps this time you might want to think about voting for folks who actually have an interest in governance ,rather than those determined to be unwavering in the furtherance of an ideologically inspired dogma designed to bring government to s screeching halt.....and damaging the countries credit rating in the process.

The thanks of a grateful nation, Mike??? That was an act of the nation. They seemed decidely ungrateful, for the blessings being bestowed by Washington.

The President was given a loud and clear, "oh HELL no," which he chose to turn a deaf ear on. These things aren't always pretty.

The stimulus was badly squandered, and the President's plan then, as well as now, is more of the same. Whether he squeaks through on November 6 or not, the "hell no," stays in effect until he figures out how to work with people who don't all agree that he's the smartest person in the room.

Bullshit Rich, what he would need to figure out is how to work with folks who have entered into a contradictory pledge to Grover Norquist, one which seems to supersede their oath of office.
How one works with assholes like that,or with idiots who declare that job # 1 is to ensure a one term Presidency is beyond me.

The Obamaphone is ringing, but it's the water company calling with a final shut-off notice, and there's a text of action from the welfare office, telling you about an overpayment on the food stamps.

What a delighful future the Obamabots are offering...

I'm not surprised, Mike. It's completely beyond the capacities of our current President as well. Reagan managed to pull it off. Clinton too.
