If it was white players doing it to protest something else, Trump would be hailing them as heroes.
You know it, I know it, we all know it.

NASCAR's lack of diversity is shameful.

NASCAR's diversity is a whole lot more reflective of the general diversity of the country than either the NFL or the NBA.

NASCAR's diversity? Carolinas, Georgia and Tennessee ??

FR color me shocked but Dale Jr came out in support of protesters, referring to a King quote that points out when you take away all means of peaceful protest, all that's left is violence.

JFK, but close enough.

Then he added, “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable — JFK.”

its a great thought, but its not totally apropos. the issue isn't the protest per se, its WHEN its occurring.

Oh, sorry, white guy. When would it be more convenient for you for schedule the black angst?

not when they are being paid to play football and stand during the national anthem.

and since they have peaceful recourse options outside their job description there is therefore no need to turn to violent protest and again---the quote is not apropos.

got that??

so piss off with your unwarranted snark.

first of all the players aint being paid shit for the national anthem, the league is. The players are paid by the individual teams & owners OF those teams, which is why rump thought incorrectly he had pull with them.

I DARE u to find anywhere in ANY sports contract ANYWHERE where its says they are getting any part of the payment the US military pays ANY of the US sports leagues for the tributes and recruitment displays.

and when ur done exhausting that futility, let Me know when u contribute to ur community like many of those player do to not only their home communities but also their adopted communities they play in.

AND most times they do that on their "day off" DURING the season. Do u do anything even remotely close to that on ur day off??

but oh shit, let these men have a beef with how some people in those communities are being treated and u want then to protest in a way that ur comfortable with right?

I understand u don't give a shit about the core reason they're protesting in the first place,

but maybe ur the one who should piss off since under those circumstances ur part of the problem they are protesting.

They are paid from team funds.
You won't find anything that says any of their pay comes from the tv contract,
or from the gate , or from any other source so your point is pointless.
Sounds good, as long as you don't think about it.

thank u for agreeing with me that the players are not employed by the league to stand for the national anthem, and therefore NOT part of their "job descriptions"

SO... its ur bitchin that's pointless. its still the owners money, not the leagues, so u are and now know u are,.... wrong.... period.

And in case u hadn't noticed most if not all the owners who donated to rumps campaign, and/or his lame underwhelming inauguration are against him blowing shit up their ass.

some like rump pal, Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones,.. Protested WITH his players, coaches and front office staff.

and thank u for confirming u care more about the means of protest than the reason for it.

ur problem is u don't think about it because again,... ur part OF the problem.

Their job is to do what is best for the league and their team, this is just the opposite.
You may think that I proved your point, but you need to reestablish your contact with reality.
By your logic they are not bound to follow any league rules and you know that is BS.
Last year why did Cowboy player need permission FROM THE LEAGUE to do a tribute for the 5 cops
murdered at the BLM rally. How can the league fine people for wearing 9/11 socks?
The league has that power on every issues but this?

actually they don't....or at least they don't feel the need to do so. The league can only fine them for violations, and even then that's only under the collective bargaining agreement of which the national anthem and its paid patriotism isn't anywhere on it.

notice nobody got even fined the whole weekend ....Hell, the steelers just did what all teams did before the national anthem and its paid patriotism years ago,...... stayed in the locker room, and take the field afterwards.

...... And while I don't remember what the player did for that cop tribute, but I'm sure if he knew then what he probably knows now, its possible he could of just did it without permission.

and the 9/11 socks? I'm guessing that IS covered in that collective bargaining agreement of what players can wear DURING THE ACTUAL GAME.

Ive seen players wear non-conforming items during pre-game warmups, but come out in approved wear at game time.

and lastly, if u had to deal with MY reality, u wouldn't have nearly the fucked up attitude on race relations u currently have.

one white American's take on the protest.

This 97-year-old WWII vet took a knee in support of protesting NFL players.
http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/nation-world/national/article175162996.html#fmp

A 97-year-old World War II veteran from Missouri took a knee Sunday morning in support of NFL football players’ protests, and his grandson’s photo of it took Twitter by storm.

“My grandpa is a 97 year-old WWII vet & Missouri farmer who wanted to join w/ those who #TakeaKnee,” Brennan Gilmore tweeted about John Middlemas.

Then, quoting his grandfather, Gilmore added: “Those kids have every right to protest.”

Middlemas of Willard, Mo., took his knee around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, an hour and a half before legions of NFL players, coaches and owners would be reacting to President Donald Trump’s criticism of player protests during the national anthem.

Trump urged owners to fire or suspend players who kneel during the national anthem, and he encouraged fans to boycott the games.

During President Donald Trump's speech at a rally in Huntsville, Ala. on Sept. 22, 2017, he said any player that sits during the national anthem is a "son of a bitch." The president also rescinded NBA champ Stephen Curry's invitation to the White House. Trump's comments ultimately led to more protests by NFL players, coaches and owners during the national anthem on Sept. 24, 2017.

Alexa Ard / McClatchy
By mid-afternoon Sunday, Gilmore’s tweet of his grandfather’s solidarity demonstration had been retweeted more than 48,000 times, had drawn some 116,000 likes, and generated some 2,000 replies.

“My Grandpa has been an ally to the civil rights movement for many years,” Gilmore said in a follow-up tweet. “He’s an amazing man always on the side of justice.”

This is just another exercise in just how gullible and manipulable American voters are.

Trump can't do his agenda, can't pass anything, can't just be the dictator he envisioned. His poll numbers are only 40% even for the kindest polls.

But this? Rant and tweet and wave the flag? It's his strong suit . . . and the masses lick it up.

Does nothing, accomplishes nothing, proves nothing, changes nothing -- but everyone gets to thump chests and pretend they're proud Americans.

of course someone was going to post the 97 yr old WWII vet "taking a knee."

as if it would be a surprise that any given population of people would have divergent positions on the issue?

meanwhile:

"Veterans’ Groups Slam NFL Protesters For Disrespecting Their Flag And Country"

quote:

The Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion have openly criticized National Football League (NFL) players that have protested during the national anthem before games.

Following tweets from President Donald Trump on Saturday that blasted protesters for disrespecting their flag and country, 28 NFL teams, which consist of approximately 250 NFL players, chose to kneel during the national anthem in protest.

VFW’s national commander Keith Harman, a Vietnam combat veteran, said in a statement on Monday that players using the platform of sporting events to disrespect the American flag is unacceptable.

“There is a time and place for civil debate, and wearing team jerseys and using sporting events to disrespect our country doesn’t wash with millions of military veterans who have and continue to wear real uniforms on real battlefields around the globe,” said Harman in his statement.

American Legion National Commander Denise H. Rohan also attacked players that engaged in protests during the anthem, calling them “misguided and ungrateful.”

“The American Legion is one of the original architects of the U.S. Flag Code,” Rohan stated. “That code was produced by 69 patriotic, fraternal, civic and military organizations in 1923. It included members of all political parties, big labor, industry, and minorities.”

“The code calls on all present to stand at attention while the anthem is played. It wasn’t political when it was written, and it shouldn’t be political today,” he added….
