This is just another exercise in just how gullible and manipulable American voters are.

Trump can't do his agenda, can't pass anything, can't just be the dictator he envisioned. His poll numbers are only 40% even for the kindest polls.

But this? Rant and tweet and wave the flag? It's his strong suit . . . and the masses lick it up.

Does nothing, accomplishes nothing, proves nothing, changes nothing -- but everyone gets to thump chests and pretend they're proud Americans.

And especially -- find someone to blame! Liberals! Athletes! Owners! Doesn't matter -- just deflect from White House criticism.

We are a long, long, long way from Truman's "The buck stops here."

"Nuh-uh! Fake news! Alternate facts!"

Sad.

"Trump can't do his agenda, can't pass anything, can't just be the dictator he envisioned"....well...for the record...it appears as though he's....uhhhhm....about to....

...About to Presidentially....cause Health care to be considered nationwide....with the right to choose across state lines...by edict.

BYPASSING EVERY Congressional mandate.

Wouldn't that be sumpin...if YOU could purchase....in Ohio...or Iowa...or Wisconsin....or...West Virginia....that which you could purchase in Arizona....or California...or NY...or....WITHOUT SOMEONE IN WASHINGTON DC....TELLING YOU...HOW...WHEN...OR FOR HOW MUCH?

(Anywhere....where other firms had figured out....how....to do it better...with...competition....)

Yeah...I see that as a good thang.

Let's see....now...what competition...can bring to the table.

Go Trump.

It sure as fuck can't get worse.

It sure as fuck can't get worse.

I.e., bypass state regulations, allowing the lowest, worst coverage to do nationwide what is now illegal in several states.

That's not presidential. It's the same bullshit the GOP has been trying to force through for decades under the pretense of commerce.

1> A president doesn't pass bills. Congress passes bills to make them into law.

2> Stating an opinion or asking for what you want is not being a dictator. Congress is free to say NO. And our current Congress seems to be trying very very hard to keep saying NO to everything instead of coming up with an equitable bi-partisan plan. Time to fire the bums and get some people in that aren't limited by decades of back room promises.

3> Every time a Democratic congress has tried to "fix" health care we are saddled with more cost and less medical care availability. It is time to get politics doctor's pockets and look at some SEC regulation of corporate health care that works hard to keep charges spiraling up while cutting services and salaries. #1 should be to put the PHS back in charge of health care instead of some bunch of bureaucrats.

That's the party line. Good boy. Here's your processed cheese slice.

It's an end run around state standards. While all you like -- it's still an end run around state standards.

Btw, my health care is fine, thanks. Largely because I'm in a state that insists insurance does what it's supposed to do.

Btw, my health care is fine, thanks. Largely because I'm in a state that insists insurance does what it's supposed to do.

I'm glad yours is fine (and I believe you)...what I'm hoping for is a (new) option for those who have "coverage" today...a $3,000.00 (plus) deductible...which effectively negates their insurance....which in fact....actually....helps....no one.

You might be able to afford it...I sure as hell can but...MOST cannot. MOST folks have ONE weeks income in the bank. Yeah....ONE. That's not even remotely enough to handle a major emergency, let alone a lay off or............even next weeks food. Believe it or not....SOME Republicans actually give a shit about that fact. (Really).

TODAY....of 100 people taking advantage of the ACA...did you know (no I don't have a link for this...I heard it on C-Span last night...I'm assuming it's "reasonably" accurate...they're generally fairly tight on facts) that 67 of those 100 are paying the "penalty" as opposed to buying the actual insurance? (I didn't know that).

(Which, by the way...doesn't actually cost them anything...since Obama put that in as a tax incentive / abatement).

So...what it means is...of those who can take advantage of the ACA, 2/3rds do not...and the remainder have a 1 - 5K deductible (you don't...I don't...but we're blessed...just because you have insurance under Obama...doesn't mean you actually have insurance under the ACA).

Did you also know that...of the number of folks who buy insurance...fewer than 10% purchase it through the ACA (see above as to % of actual...as against). In short.,...the ACA doesn't even PLAY in the numbers.

THIS is FUCKED UP DUDE!!!!

(It makes NO difference which side of the fence you're on).

And...just for the record...."I'm in a state that insists insurance does what it's supposed to do."....THAT's what putting it out so EVERYONE...across state lines can buy insurance from providers who dial this in....smartly....does.

THINK about what YOU just said!!! "I'm in a state that insists insurance does what it's supposed to do."

He's trying to set up a system such that....LIKE YOUR state....companies can do the RIGHT thing....design systems that people NEED...not what the government mandates....and....(watch this)....what works.

He's talking about allowing ALL states citizens to BUY from states as SMART as YOURS!!!!

(NOT the Feds!!!).

What Democrats fail to recognize (forgive me...that wasn't pointed at anyone in particular...but...it damn near should be a meme)...is....

..................we're ALL in this together and the FIGHTING and GNASHING of teeth gets us NOWHERE!!!!

Some (not all...I'll admit) Republicans...actually want EVERYONE TO WIN!!!!!!!!

I'm not here (contrary to most appeasement commenters) trying to sell ANYTHING....my life changes not even remotely if this health care thing fails....yet....ODDLY...I actually give a shit....as I've stated many times...my entire company...since the EARLY 80's...has had 100% paid for health care...and we never chinced on the policy....currently...my staff has $1,250.00 deductibles...not $5,000.00 (we used to have $500.00 deductibles)...and yes...I pay a shitload to make that happen (money that could go in MY POCKET!!!!) so....every commenter here that is convinced I want to open oil drilling (in your back yard), want 3% tax rates for me and my friends...but 70% rates for everyone else...hasn't read my comments or posts over the years.

There's something here folks...and we need to QUIT YELLING at each other and find a reasonable solution!!!!!!!

(Sometimes....the enemy ain't the guy across the field.....SOMETIMES it's the guy in the mirror....LET'S WORK TOGETHER!!!!).

Sadly, the posturing isn't going to stop. (I suppose it can't until the medical insurers remove their hands from their pet senators' arses, can it?)

Musta been Clinton's fault.

I'm afraid you are incorrect. He was using one of his many nicknames for me in the post I replied to. Of course, you had no way of knowing.

"NFL Ratings Plunge Below MLB and NBA"

oh no comrades (and blinker especially) townhall!

please note the bolded words blinker, its especially for you! I know that whole "cause and effect" thing is tough for you, so I thought id help out.

quote:

The protests sparked by former National Football League quarterback Colin Kaepernick that caused league wide kneeling during the national anthem this past month has led to the decline in popularity of the NFL.

At one point, the NFL was America’s favorite sport, but now a recent poll shows it is the least liked sport of any top professional or college sport.

According to a poll conducted by the Winston Group, the NFL currently has a 44 percent favorability rating compared to a 40 percent unfavorable rating.

The most liked sport is baseball. Major League Baseball has a 63 percent favorability rating compared to a 16 percent unfavorable.

As the Washington Examiner notes, "more critically for the NFL, the fall off in favorables occurred among important audiences. Among males, NFL favorables fell 23 percent, going from 68 percent to 45 percent. In looking at a more specific audience, males 34-54, NFL favorables fell 31 percent, going from 73 percent to 42 percent. Among this group the NFL has a surprising negative image, as it went from +54 percent in August to -5 percent in September."

This is now the second major poll in recent weeks to show the NFL is losing fans en masse, disgusted with acts of perceived disrespect towards the flag and the country.

On September 28, Townhall reported on a Politico/Morning Consult poll which showed similar results.

That poll showed "The NFL's net favorability has dropped from 30% on September 21 to 17% on September 28.”

In turn, fans are tuning out games. Ratings have dipped all season and continue to slide.

As the New York Post notes, "Jefferies analyst John Janedis drilled down further and estimated a 10 percent ratings drop for the season would cost game-carrying networks — CBS, ESPN, Fox and NBC — $200 million in lost operating income."

For many however the damage may already be done. Each Sunday this NFL season, #BoycottNFL has popped up on Twitter, showing thousands of fans abandoning the league they once loved.

Being military I have spent most of my life with single payer, it sucks.

I really don't think Kaepernick and the current situation is the only reason people are losing interest in the NFL.

The League has made some shitty decisions over the last few years, and this is just another 'scandal' it couldn't afford.

Baseball and basketball also play a hell of a lot more games each season, making the games and seasons more exciting than watching people get knocked on their asses 3 times every 10 yards, once a week.

For real violence, there's MMA and boxing. And for staged violence there's the WWE.
