dunno if i've asked this before....

but i think i'm getting tired of painful nether area shaving.  It seems (as of late) that ever stroke i do to shave, it hurts.  I ended up bleeding alot and my pelvis is senstive ages afterwards.

So as i was shaving today, in pain and seeing everything turn pink.. i wondered what does everyone ELSE use to shave?

I tend to use disposable razors and a bar of soap.  Today i tried bath gel, but that didnt work either AND a brand new razor.  Didnt do diddly squat.  Maybe i need to invest in a re usable razor?  What brand of razor is best?  Do others bar soap, shaving cream.. what?

course i could just be senstive lately, but really i'm tired of a indulging in my masochistic tendencies in the shower.  (that was a jokeeeeeeeee)

When I shaved regularly, I don't shave more than once a week.  If I did that, my pubic area ended up pretty raw and hamburger like.  It's just how my hair grows back in- I have to let it grow back more before I shave.

Then you have other options like waxing and depilatories.

Interestingly enough, Riot, you started the thread on Shaving back in March of 2005, in which you said "I know this topic has been done before" and were given most of these links already by ProudSub and plenty of suggestions. You also deleted your posts into "Access denied. Not allowed to have personal information to throw in my face at a later time."

You also started the thread  "Ingrown Hairs" back in Aug, 2005 when you got severe ingrowns after plucking and ended the thread by saying you were going back to shaving or possibly waxing.

Enjoy.

Ok, I'm going to chime in on this...

I'm coming to believe - maybe wrongly - that shaving is rather a fad.

I used to shave all the time, suffered the ingrown hairs, the bristley effect of new growth, etc...I used to think it was important.

When I met my Master, I asked him about this and he said he didn't care one way or the other, but I was hard-pressed to stop, because it'd become a habit.

Then, he had some family issues (deaths) and I didn't see him for a long while. During that time, I stopped shaving. What a pleasure! No more irritated skin, and something that I don't hear too much of on any shaving threads, no more irritated urethra from virtually EVERYTHING I used, from mild soap, to conditioner, to lotions, to shaving cream designed for men - and women, to dipilatories.

When things at home calmed down and I saw him again, I just decided to take him at his word and didn't resume shaving. And I was amazed! He really didn't care one way or the other. We had just as much fun with as without hair.

So this past Friday, we were invited to a party. I decided to shave again. There it was, the irritated urethra, and now, the bristle and all that of it growing back. And I discovered that the biggest reason for my decision to shave was the point of being out in "public" where the standard is have no hair.

So...I decided - finally - that other people's standards are not what I'm going by. He's said he doesn't care. He really does NOT care, and I am keeping my hair. Trimmed and neat, to be sure, but I'm still going to have hair. I'm not going to be doing this anymore just because it's the current fad to do so.

I'm starting to think waxing is the only solution.

I have to keep mine shaved except for a patch that is His initial.

I did buy some Nads to try and that didn't work well either.  It did pull a few hairs out, but I kept having to do it over and over again on the same spot, only to get a few more hairs.  I don't wanna hafta use a safeword on myself just to remove a few hairs!   OUCH!

Use a good shaving gel and at least a double (or better yet triple blade razor) And get a razor with a head that swivels.

I shave daily, and as long as I use a good sharp razor, I get a pretty clean shave with no irritation, save for the occasional nick if I'm working too fast.

You may want to try the Intuition razor.  It has this bar of stuff right on it that coats the area you're shaving as you're shaving it.  No need for shaving cream. Its nice and wide and easy to use, it swivels and it's a triple blade.  Works really really nice.  Silkie smooth afterwards.

Marie, I use the Schick Quattro and still get those damn bumps!  I've tried sensitive skin shaving gel, soap, moisturizer and still bumpity bumps!

I did buy a battery powered dry shaver called Body Bare.  You use it with baby powder and it does work, but it takes forever!  It's specifically for pubic shaving.

I use the Bikini Zone products, the shave gel and the after shave gel.  Also, a triple blade razor.  In between shavings I use a trimmer (you can get them for less than $20 and they have attachments).  My skin is sensitive and I've found that I can keep things neat with a trim and then shave when I feel the need to be baby soft.

Does it shave you clean though?  I mean, nice and smooth?
Ive often wondered how those electric razors--I dont know what they call them---but they have three circular thingies that spin around and the blade are inside them.  Is that what you mean?

This is it:  http://www.personalshavers.com/?1349

It does shave you clean and smooth, it just takes forever.  It runs off of a D cell battery.  The head looks similar to those spinning heads on electric razors, but the blades are actually inside, covered by a sort of metal screen.

I'm wondering why an electric razor wouldn't work down there.  Anyone know?

Use coochy creme. It is a but pricey but it works. Best thing that has worked for me in years. They also have an after shave spray that is wonderful. Soap and gels have irritants in them.

Sweet Nurse I use that too, but I understand a good hair conditioner can also work well.  I use that, with a triple blade razor, and follow up with Nutrogena body oil.  Sometimes I go over it lightly with a Norelco electric razor before applying the oil.  I had too many problems with waxing, so I can't go that route.  But Coochy Cream is pretty excellent.  After my little ritual I'm smooth as silk.

Thanks for the link!    I think maybe it would, but I've always thought they didn't shave really really close, like a razor can.

Ps:  I love your picture.  It looks like you are peeping down into a little mouse hole or something.  So cute!

hi
i wax instead of using the razor.when i was a teenager i did it a couple of times with the razor and my sensitive skin suffered as much as you describe, so i decided to change back to waxing and it lasts longer. Of course, the first time you do it hurts quite a lot, but if you have the hair short (cut it with scissors) before waxing it makes it easier and less painful. After almost 10 years waxing i have much less hair than before, and it doesn't grow as strong as before, as well.
i highly recommend you to wax, it takes them less than an hour (whole legs, groin, armpit and ass) and you may pay around 23 dollars all in all.

My ex had simlar issues, she actually decided to pluck instead. I thought that was unbelievable and time consuming but she assured me it wasn't so bad, much less iritating, and alot smoother, as well as it groing in much less prickly

Actually plucking can be done pretty quickly once you know what you are doing.

Tee Tree oil lotion will really help eliminate the "bumps" when shaving. I either use that or vitamin E cream. keeps everything sofe and no dry skin.

I found using a brand new razor blade is a must, if  i don't that is the only time i get razor burn.  LOL the tricky part is the little mole i have in a really bad spot

Regular electric razors have irritated me down there about twice as bad as when I started shaving. I do agree that it just gets easier the more often you do it and I gotta agree about the Mach 3 turbo...wonderful little device :P

I have tried almost all the things that have been suggested and though I do  not have extrememly sensitive skin down there, well no more than normal.  I find the coochy cream, or conditioner work well as well as a new razor.
My question is I am a bigger woman and have a harder time reaching all those areas, any suggestions on positions or easlier ways to reach, as my big belly tends to get in the way

I trim first then a hot shower with Dove soap and Gilette Sensor razor. Baby smooth and no bumps. Has been working for years.
