~grins~...yes, bear?  Riding what, he asked in his most angelic fashion.

I am going to have to go check out the Druid thread you folks are talking about.  The one that had me fired up a bit was the revisit to the topic of "Topping from the Bottom".  I hope I made myself clear on what I think about the problem but you know, no matter how clear you think you are, some will still find that one point in your post where you were not clear.

Now...since I forgot earlier...~gropes the manly-manbeast, the lovely mama-to be, the sickly nursygirl (is that a contradiction in terms?  sickly nurse???) and waves to everyone else~

It's my thought that the importance is strictly and solely in how we describe ourself!  Caffeine is good, I'd pass you a real cup of java but it'll be ice cold by time you get it! Make you a deal, the next time I'm down your way, I'll buy you a coffee or three , ok?

Bear, you have a deal, as long as you allow me to buy you a brew or three should I be allowed to cross the border and be in your area.

I'm thinking They are still not amused with that stunt oh so many years ago. ;-)

I'd offer to shovel your snow and bring up a chicken soup recipe (sorry, my culinary skills are pushed when it comes to determining whether to use high or med-high power on the microwave), but by the time I arrived I think mud season would be upon you.

'Tis a shame too, for I don't mind shoveling snow.

It was contained within FL and is being corrected. We have power; some parts of south FL don't. Last count was about 3 million customers lost power at its peak. Orlando Int'l Airport was in a "ground stop" for outbound flights, but planes are taking off again. Disney World had an outage for about 20 minutes, but only in the hotels and shopping areas; none of the parks, and more importantly, the rides and attractions were affected.

Around my immediate area, the power company has been around to make sure that its equipment was doing OK. There were some minor traffic incidents which is to be expected when traffic lights go out. Many of the lights have battery backups so they switched to a flashing red scenario, which helped out greatly in reducing the accidents.

So far, despite how widely this outage affected the state, there's been nothing too serious developing, with the exception of continual traffic tie-ups and overheated tempers in south FL. ;-)

We were without power for six hours last night...but it had nothing to do with the rest of the states power outages...massive storm brought down a tree accross our road.....then the flippin power company knocked over the entire pole when they were trying to repair the line.

Oh ghita, that sucks big time. You would expect that the utility company would have the professionalism, if not simply the common decency, to not be so incompetent with their repair work.

On the flip side, perhaps this was a pesky pole that they had scheduled to be replaced in the near future anyway, and took this opportunity to make the switch out?

Either way, a Florida thunderstorm isn't a good time to be without power.

When I was living in upstate NY, I dreamed of seeing that much snow again. We had it when I first moved there in '71... the snow completely drifted in and buried the lower level of our new house, making it appear to be a ranch style. In reality, it was a split level and the door to get into the house was behind that ten feet of snow. That was my first experience with making snow tunnels, snow caves, etc. I've been hooked ever since.

Please don't ask why I moved away; it's a move I've mostly regretted since. ;-)

Ah...yes...youth and snow kind of go together...i remember the blizzard of '78...two weeks off of school, digging tunnels out of the front door....there was nowhere to put the snow when you first started shoveling the tunnel so we had to fill trash barrels full of snow and empty them out the 2nd floor windows just so we could dig the tunnels lol...

it was fun and exciting then..NOW, however, due to a dead snowblower, it's sucking mightily lol. or maybe its just because i'm "old" now

Gawd, I remember digging tunnels and making snow forts in the snowbanks lining the driveway! Parents used to yell at me for doing so but it was so much fun crawling in the tunnels.
