Insanity is when one tries to rationalize what they cannot, therefor they will have unfounded rationalizations or in other words "delusions".

...sounds more like a definition of faith to me, as opposed to insanity.

i think there is a point however where faith can become insanity

I don't know if this thread has been full of testosterone, but I'm certainly glad to be rid of some of the estrogen I'm overly used to.  You have to admit- these boards can be incredibly touchy-feely, prone to ignore reason in favor of maintaining some status-quo on emotions.  So touchy!

I often see that many have that trait I attribute most strongly to SimplyMichael: that mentioning anything, even modestly, that isn't somehow a negative trait about you, is "beating your chest".  It seems like such individuals want to sit around and talk about how depressing life is and cry about it.

Getting down now and then, being a bit angsty- I can't fault that; I'd be a hypocrit.  But living by that sentiment?  Com'n!

If you did - you'd be called a depressive.

And some just like to stew in their own misery - why deny them their kink

In all fairness, there have been several subjects covered in this thread, only a few of which were beaten to death.

And once dead, they're dead.

Contrast this with repeated same-topic threads where people never resolve anything, even after 450 posts.

For me, beating a topic to death in a discussion is a rewarding experience that results in increased understanding of myself and the other participants, our respective POVs, and the topic at hand. It also does not contribute to my insanity in any way, though it may in some cases detract from my insanity; if you buy the term "insane", that is.

Though, if you look one level deeper, you'll find a common cause for both, as I covered on the previous page.

Where do you feel there is testosterone being evidenced in these posts?

Surely the large number of posts from female contributors would indicate testosterone was no driving factor?

CuriousLord,

I replied to your PM.

I'm wondering if you got my reply, as the board sometimes drops them.

No rush in answering, just checking to see if it went where it was supposed to, rather than the bitbucket.

Aswad.

Finally found the quote!

I was right: it was Rodin.

Was it Rodin who said, "You may not be understood at first"?  I can't find the quote, but it's something like that.

You mean the Chinese under the command of the Kublai Khan, the Mongol who took emperorship of China in 1279, no doubt.

The historical term used to describe foreign invaders conquering Japan are the words "I came, I saw, I was conquered."  Two generations after any invading force took over, it was impossible to tell them apart from the Chinese they conquered.

If my memory serves me correctly.  The Yuan dynasty was the shortest of all Chinese dynasties, but seems to be the only one that westerners are familiar with.

The Mongols under the descendants of Kublai Khan were the Yuan dynasty and lasted from 1271-1368.

I stand by my comments about the Yuan dynasty resembling those overthrown within a generation.

i thought a generation was thought to be about 60 years or so?   i dont think any form of government has survived much beyond 200 though if i remember my history correctly.
