What is it about the sting of a riding crop that makes some people swoon? I've been stung with things like switches and Hot Wheel tracks, and they were anything but sensual.

Inquisitive minds would like to know.

i'm a firm believer that, if you're not using the cheapest coffee on the shelf, that the trick is ALL in the water...oh, yes, it must be ICE cold as well

Well, MY take on it would be that a switch evokes memories of getting whipped when i was a kid for disobeying (yeah, i'm from THAT generation)...so there's nothing in that item's use that would arrouse me in any way...even the "pain" is different....a crop, on the other hand, is a totally different story...they sting just as much as a switch but the prop itself is "different"...christ did that even make a lick of sense?

I think that it is the slapping sound of the leather.

I'm from that generation too, and maybe before, when HotWheel tracks were handy replacements for switches.

Yes b, your description does make sense. From your description, it's more about the one using the implement as opposed to the actual implement itself, if I'm understanding you correctly.

And much has to do with the type of pain that's produced. Pain from being smacked with a wooden spoon I find is a a bad pain, remnants from childhood spankings. Though pain from a deftly used flogger or cat of nine tails creates a pain sensation many find erotic and often arousing.  Best way I can describe this is the body and mind is able to interpret the pain sensations as pleasure.

Ah, see, for me a leather belt wouldn't work either LOL...my dad got pretty creative...switches from the thicket out back, leather belt....of course, mom was the italian and good for the wooden spoons....

So, again, if I understand you, it has more to do with knowing who is applying the pain than with what instrument is being used.

Without having experienced receiving pain in a lifestyle form, and only having received it as the result of a corporal, disciplinary fashion, I'm finding the whole idea of the "pain is pleasure" thing to be utterly confusing.
