I figure this would probably belong in Health, regardless of the fact that pubic hair isn't a medical issue. I, from the moment it started growing, have hated my pubic hair with every fiber of my being. For many years I have shaved, but that causes uncomfortable irritation and only lasts 12 hours TOPS. I moved on and tried Nair, a depilatory, and found that it did not work. The cream opened my pores and made me bleed from them, but none of my hair was removed. Dejected, I tried waxing. The strips I've bought only remove 1/3 of the hair and can only be used once. I am FED UP with hair removal methods and I want advice. Does anyone know a depilatory or a brand of wax that works really well on hair and can be done at home? I'd love any advice on this matter as, at the rate I'm going, my next request of Santa will for him to get me electroloysis.

Until you can do electrolysis, waxing definitely is the answer. But go to a pro. If money isn't an issue, I would go for laser hair removal. After a certain number of sessions, the effect is permanent with about a once a year visit for maintenance.. If money is an issue, my advice is go to a salon and get it all waxed off. Depending on where you live, the cost is approx. $50-$70 per visit and you stay smooth for a few weeks at a time. The strips you used were clearly the wrong type for what you needed. Pay attention to everything the tech does and after a few visits you can order all the stuff you need online and do it yourself from then on.. Electrolysis is very very labor intensive, very very painful and very very expensive. Laser hair removal is much less labor intensive, somewhat less painful, but still fairly expensive... Sadly, the input I can provide is a product my slave uses after she shaves (daily) that eliminates all irritation and bumps on her. It is called Zero Bumps pads for bikini & underarm made by Sally Hansen. Not sure what the cost is (she took the price sticker off) but it is a small container of round pads. My slave swears by them - she got horrible irritation from shaving before using them. I'm fairly certain the pads won't help with your rapid hair growth issue, though. I can relate - I have a 5:00 shadow by noon. I hope you find a good solution that works for you.

Well, I just came back from a magical quest to CVS in which I bought Bikini only hard wax. I think this will work very nicely and I hope that it will remove all of my obnoxious hair.

I've said it before...laser hair removal is the way to go. even if you can't afford to have 6 or more sessions, after two sessions your regrowth will be drastically reduced, making it a heckuva lot easier to deal with. thanks to my parents, I've got two extremely hairy heritages fighting it out for control of my body, and laser hair removal has done wonders. it's such a great feeling to put on any sort of lingerie and go, "damn, that bikini line looks good!" barring that, I'd say waxing by a professional. I was 40 when I got my first brazilian, I was a nervous wreck, and the gal was so sweet...they really don't care, they've seen all sorts of female parts, so don't let shyness stop you.

I LOVE, Love , Love my epilady!!! Used it for Years!!! Have EVEN got a FEW pple to get one too..........and They love it!!! (male and female) ...........I will ALWAYS love MY epilady!!!! YaY!!!.................. other than that...............love the wax!!! ;)

I've decided to stay with Veet or Nair type products. I don't get any skin irritation and it doesn't take much effort. The drawback is that I get stubbly within two days, but that is still better than daily shaving or the dreaded epi-torture!! ta2dqt you must be one tuff hombre! Yikes I will never go near one of those viscious machines ever again lol.

In this post, I hope the OP doesn't mind me asking an additional question? My pubic hair is not only course, but my skin in the area is extremely senstive and scar-ridden. The soft skin and build up of scar tissue(don't ask) has caused me to never be able to rid myself of the pubic hair without having ingrowns or razor burn. Literally, if I pluck or shave it I have instant pain. I'm currently raising a fund for electrolysis. Till then I'm sort of pissed that it's so painful to do anything about the hair down there. Right now, all I'm able to do is trim the hair short and hope that it doesn't look too bad. I'm kind of scared to get waxed.

There's a gizmo called a trimmer, mine's from Walgreens, that helps. It's a little tiny electric razor on a handle with batteries in it. Adapted from vibrator technology? So if anything gets sort of longish because the thought of shaving turns me paralyzed and green with fear and I don't for days I trim it short with this thing. Another thing that works on my hirsute self for legs all the way up is dry skin, a lot of Cetaphil moisturizer in leiu of shaving cream, and cheap disposable razors. keep your hands dry so they don't slip. This is a good emergency trick for wierd places, but gives a better shave that the hot water shaving cream way. The glop in the razor is hard to get out, bang it on the side of the tub. Crummy shave today, but redo it tomorrow and it'll be better. I keep hearing about those Sally Hansen pads. All good. I'm going out for some.

Laser hair removal is the best way to go and leaves no scars like the electro can but untill you can afford this if you wish not to get a pro job done then the best wax to use at home is bees wax. I know if you heat it up to much it is to hot but it is the only wax that gets warm enough to open to poors of your skin to release as much of the root as possiable. If you go to the well known spas that is the type of wax they use and the reason for it. If you dont have a wax melter a minute in the micro will do the trick you might still have to let it cool down a might but its the best out there. Good luck

Greetings, sugaring is a fabulous hair removal method and you can make a sugaring solution with household ingredients. It's less painful than waxing and effective.

I have used a dipilatory called Magic Smooth for years. I went from shaving twice a day to about once a month. It grows back so fine, afte awhile you don't even realize it is there. You can find it in the colored ethnic section ( Blck men's hair care ) of most wal-marts and drug emporiums and such. I would be VERY interested in hearing about this " sugaring" method.

i wonder if it is the same product as "Magic shave"? In any case Nad's has a sugaring product that i hear works quite well. For me i use the one i make myself. Here's the recipe: INGREDIENTS 2 cups sugar 1/4 cup lemon juice ¼ cup water Equipment: Candy thermometer Combine the ingredients in a heavy saucepan, and heat on low using a candy thermometer. Watch the mixture very carefully so that it doesn't boil over. Heat the mixture to 250 F on the candy thermometer; this is the hardball candy stage. Remove from the heat and let cool enough to pour into a jar without breaking or melting the jar. (Note that this jar will be reheated in the future. Make sure it is safe for whatever for of reheating you plan to do -- in the microwave, or in a pan of water. Rip clean cotton fabric in 1" inch strips. Make sure the cotton isn't too coarsely woven. This next step is very critical: let the mixture cool enough so that it won't burn your skin. The first time I did this I didn't let the blend cool enough and I burned myself! Test the mixture on the palm of your hand, knowing that is much tougher than the sensitive skin under your arms. Using a dull knife or Popsicle stick, spread the cooled sugar onto your skin. Cover with the cloth strips, let set for a few minutes, and then rip off quickly as you would a bandaid. In the future you can reheat the mixture to a warm and not hot temperature (see above), and reuse.
