Perhaps speak to someone who sells guns, specifically the one you wish to use in your scene. Perhaps locate and purchase a prop gun, they typically are realistic.

Is "playing" with a gun in a scene worth the risk to you? Have you truly thought of the "what ifs?"Could you or your partner live with the worse case scenerio?

I will add, I used to play russian roulette as a teen, it was a wonderful high but now... today, I wouldn't risk everything I have for that high or rush.

OP and all :
People play all kinds of things all the time. Edge play. Things that would be criminal in another context.

I don't know enough about guns. I guess that some powerful guns have a hard kick when the trigger is pulled even when empty ( ow.. that wouldn't be good.)
But does the trigger have to be pulled? Can't one respect the weapon and the danger it represents... and use it in a safe manner? In whatever way...?

What if the gun was entirely empty and had no powder, blanks, explosive or projectile? ( sounds fine to me..and yep..could be sexy HOT)

We KNOW guns are not toys. But, aren't many "toys" not "toys"? We are all consenting adults.

Yes, I'd agree... some narrow mindedness here or just that people didn't get a chance to think about it and made a snap judgement. If it squicks..fine.
Others are truly against owning a real firearm for any reason. Please everyone..think and be safe in whatever you do in life. BUT THINK.

No, the trigger does not have to be pulled. For that matter, the trigger does not have to be pulled for the weapon to discharge. Nor does removing the firing pin guarantee the weapon will not discharge.

Therein lies the crucial difference between guns and knives. With a knife, the danger is visible and quantifiable. WIth a gun, it never is, not entirely. With a knife, a momentary loss of control with the blade results in a minor amount of bloodletting. With a gun the result is a major if not lethal injury.

Needle play is the same as knife play in this regard. You can see all the risk that is posed, in the shape of the needle used. It is quantifiable, which the risk from gun play can never hope to be.

There is no "safe" way to play with guns. No matter what precautions you take, in the end you are always gambling that a) there is no round in the chamber; and b) that the round will not discharge. And if you gamble and lose, somebody is likely to die--not get hurt, not bleed a little, but die.

That is not an exaggeration; that is the reality of firearms.

I hate disagreeing with you about anything, but where guns are concerned I'm soooooooo cautious. I was brought up around guns coming from a farming background, not something I would ever point at a person in play.

Now there are so many other nasty vicious and fun things to do to each other, you won't need a gun, I promise lmao

Master and I tried some gun play once because I thought it'd be hot. He brought his graduation pistol with him and alternated between holding it to my head and making me suck on it...

It was not hot. I went hysterical because I was afraid the gun was accidentally going to go off, kill me, and he'd end up going to jail.

The safety was on, and furthermore, there were no bullets in the chamber, but it still freaked me the fuck out. After he calmed me down (of course he stopped the scene immediately) he proceeded to show me how the gun worked, how to tell if the safety was on, explained the way that the bullets go from the magazine into the chamber, etc. It helped a little, but I was still too shaky after the whole experience for it to really have a completely relieving effect on me. I think I'll stick to shooting things with them instead of fucking things with them.

CL, your mostly right exept if the knife hits an artery. And like a few others on here: yes I am narrow minded about guns. I own a gun, a Beretta .22 I have recently started learning how to use it. Protection, hunting, competition shooting. Now mind you I have no interest in hunting, but if I had too, well then. If I had a sub ask me to point a gun at him/her during play or any other time, not only would I say "hell no!" but I would also re-examine our relationship. Similiar if My Mistress wanted to point a gun at me during play. Like a sword, you do not draw unless you intend to use it. As for the Darwin Awards, **shrugs** there will always be people who go for the gold, regardless of what others say. If they do manage to remove themselves from the gene pool, hopefully it will be before they reproduce

I know, even though that was directed to you, I wanted to point (pun intended.) to the others who may not know. I forgot to add a comment to my post: anyone curious about guns should look up their local gun safety class. they have them all over the place. If you don't know where to look, well go to a gun shop. In fact quite a few shops even host the classes. When looking for a class, make sure that the teacher is liscenced in that state/country. Educate yourself in the gun laws of your state/country. regardless of my opinion of gun play, I think everyone here would agree that someone who doesn't know shit about guns, shouldn't be handling one. PERIOD!

OK from the top.

If you miss with a knife, the person will bleed but live if proper precautions are taken

IF you have a mishap with a gun, one of you is going to jail, most likely the other is going to the morgue,

It has to do with the uses of the gun during roleplay, sucking it off, also knows as eating your service weapon, choice of suicide for cops. Penetration with the gun, a gun shot at the bottom of the gut or abdomen aimed upward will be fatal about 80% of the time, and the rest of the time will result in a para or quad.

About the only thing more dangerous would be using a running chainsaw with a sharp chain on it.

Look if you need the prop, go buy an Airsoft, its basically a realistic bb gun.

Several TV starts have been killed or seriously hurt with blanks. jon erik Hexum was a stud actor who was playing with a prop gun and killed himself http://www.chicagoartistsresource.org/?q=node/14870

playing on the edge can be fun, if you know the risks, but there are some edges too sharp to play on.

i'm sure LA will be able to share the thread with us all, however.....Does anyone else remember the case of the couple who were using "gun play" and the gun accidently went off.. One of them was dead and the other was going to jail or something... Seems too high risk for me, but eh..That's just me..

Bar fight it is then...........consider this as a fear play scenario:

Gun play? let's talk fear. Imagine a 45 caliber pistol fitted with a silencer. You watch as your top aims it at a watermelon across the room, it fires a round. The melon explodes. Then he puts it to your head, giving you a good look down this huge barrel first. The rest of the bullets are duds. he loaded them so himself-totally inert. He knows-you do not. He favors you with this blank look, totally expressionless-like a nutcase..........You smell the burnt gunpowder........the muzzle on the skin between your eyes-is still warm.

He cocks the trigger........*snap*

What do you feel?
