Is our life style disintegrating so fast that there is no hope? Are the ALT.com’s and the collarme.com’s etc. so dilluting my beloved life style, that there is no chance of recovery? Can any real Master or slave survive the onslaught of miss information and just plain wrong people? I cannot truly imagine what the “NEW” Master’s must be going through in order to find their way, in a lifestyle that has become filled with slaves telling Masters what to do, with Masters handing out collars of consideration, with “weekend” slaves? And I will not even start with my thoughts on collared submissive’s. Am I the only one who is feeling this way? 20 years ago this was a Lifestyle that had an occasional fetish, and NOW it seems to be a Fetish with the occasional Lifestyle.

I really didn't have my finger on the pulse of "the lifestyle" twenty years ago (and I do make every effort to keep from wrapping my hands around its neck today), but I will say something perhaps out of character for me regarding this subject and be optimistic: the rampant inclusionism of the BDSM collective, while understandably troubling to many, is in some ways beneficial. In the court of so many diverse minds from so many walks of life, ideas, theories, techniques and life philosophies are discussed and challenged thoroughly—a thousand times if needed.

The growing popularity of BDSM has managed to bring new enthusiasts into the fold that would perhaps never have considered it before. While it is certain a lot of bad can and has come from this, so too has good. A larger pool of prospectives that is the result of wider social acceptance is only one way of percieving gain in this. What is far more interesting to see is the evolution of camps of thought and how they are beginning to polarize themselves. Without a doubt, all ways of thinking are benefitting from the exchanges, even if simply to illustrate more clearly to each what they don't believe. In this way, one could perhaps compare the mass influx with the idea of the "helpful enemy." As viruses invading a body inevitably make its immune system stronger, so too our ideologies become tested and honed in the face of challenge from the many tentacles of orthodox thinking.

One thing I can say for sure is that I know where I stand. No amount of misinformative trendiness in the world will make me blink. If we are safe and secure in our values and aims, it should matter little to us how ignorant others are. The transience and folly of "the shifting flow" will only make us look better to the more serious within the fold.

i think you'll get as many answers as there are people here to answer this question.

i believe that submissive is a verb to describe either the behavior, reaction, or the nature of a person (or all of the above). There are some people who are

Some folks might be inclined to draw conclusions from that.  ;)

How many are getting letters from this person on CM asking for an explanation of their post?
And if they are sub/slave having a copy of your post sent to Him/Her for an explanation?
Of course, I'm sure he won't appreciate ours...

Well, damn, I thought I was 'special' 'cuz I got one o' those (asking me to give an 'in depth' response explaining my little joke about Jefff's 'house of J'.
The fact I need to explain my jokes means one of 2 things.....one being the disintegration of HUMOR!

Edited to add:  of course Twue masters have no sense of humor!
Dominants have it removed at birth, masters never had it to begin with!
(that's a joke in case I need to explain)

Did he also ask for an explanation from your Master?
Sheesh!

(good for me that every time I write something funny like that I tell Him. I might have had a lot to answer for if I didn't.

Is the lifestyle the same as it was when I first got involved, in the mid 1970's in NYC?  Absolutely not.

There are a lot of pros and cons about what I see in the life now vs then, often the cons seem to outweigh the pros, but when I step back the cons are applicable to almost any activity that has been severely impacted by the Internet.

So I see the problems as not being specific to D/s in most cases, and that does give me hope for the future.

Oh my goodness gracious!  10 pages of testosteronal chest thumping and roaring.  Be still my little submissive (uncollared btw) heart.  Who would I line up to first to get the weal twue story of Modern Eclectic Bdsm?

Live and let live.
My kink is not your kink.
Suck it up and get over yourself.
Or like we said in the good ol' days:  ya want some cheese to go with your wine?

Hadn't really thought about writing out directions to my kitchen, but I'll give it the good ol' high school try......

In the door and about 5 paces forward, to the left you'll find the spot.
Open carefully, for things will fall, and insurance I have not.
The bottle on the right is the spicey kind I think you'll like the best.
There's others too but very few of any of the rest.
2 paces onward and to the right, the glasses are in view.
Short on the left, tall on the right, pick one right for you.
Having brought said bottle with you to the picking of the glass,
I can assume you'll know the right measure for your ass.
Pour away, my friend, using fingers if you must.
To the middle, to the top, you decide....but just
make sure you drink it all, no need for one fell swoop
Coz then you'll fall and break it all and look like such a poop.

Anon
