My partner and I are seriously considering having my nipples peirced. I've been doing research on the subject, but I was wondering if I could get any information here.

Anyone care to share their experiences? Concerns? Etc?

I know a lot about possible risks, having looked into that first. I have some experience with peircings, but this will be the first more "serious" one for me and I'm interested in what other's have experienced from it

Thank you!

Do the left first.. every piercer I know say's that one hurts the worst and to get it out of the way.

Take a deep breath then go for the right. They were painful to me, I have heard others say they were not, but mine were. I will be perfectly honest about it.

There is a lot of after care. I recommend going with the captive bead initially then switching out later. As I find them easier to clean. And do make sure to clean regular, you will also need to take care your nipples do not dry out due to the cleaning. Lace bra's were out of the question for me for the first three months. Sports bras seemed to ease the pain and prevented them from "sliding" when I did not want them to. As there will be "crust" on the rings and that hurts like a mother if it runs back thru the nipple. I wore a sports bra almost constant at first so as not to snag on bed covers and such.

As I said, mine were painful, and I have a very high pain tolereance, but some have said it did not hurt. SO I guess it is dependant upon the person. It took some time for mine to heal all the way, almost 6 months. I did not change them out until after six months.

While it was painful, I enjoy them greatly and am happy to have them. But the reason mine were so painful may be because I went behind the nipple not thru the middle, I did not want the chance of them being torn out at all. I considered this a life long addition, like a tattoo.. so I went deep.

Hope it helps, and if you want to see pictures I have no problem shareing so you know what you are getting into. Just email me and as soon as I get the chance I will direct you to them on the web.

no personal experience, but from hearsay, every sub I have talked with has indicated that taking weights is far easier when hanging from a nipple ring than from a clamp - just have to be careful not to put so much weight on that the ring will pull through the nipple (wouldnt want to have split nipple)

not sure if this is what you were looking for when asking for experiences, but there you have it

Gee thanks Thanatosian! i think my itch for this particular accessory has been cured. i do know one person who had both nipples pierced and they aren't 'deep', as ModeratorThree put it. It took 6 months for them to heal. She had more trouble with one than the other, but i've forgotten which one it was. She's really enjoyed the feel of them after the healing was over. She couldn't take them out until they had healed, so had to skip her mammogram.

Nipple piercings dont hurt at all if you get your labia done first!

The biggest issues I had with them was cleaning them.
Thats when they would hurt. They would get kinda crusty and when it would roatate a little or when you were rotating the rings while cleaning them, if you arent really careful it hurts like hell to get that on the inside. It will feel like its cutting you up from the inside.

Also while it was healing I felt that it was somewhat limiting since I couldnt wrestle around or swim in a pool or do a few other things.

I wouldnt know about weights since I have never tried to hang weights off my nipple rings but I would start off really lightly after they fully heal.

Would love to hear more...

What about time it takes before someone can play with/touch 'em? THat's my partner's biggest concern.

My ex-b/f has his two nipples pierced. He said it hurts like hell and it takes a while to heal, but if you go to a good place, check for reccomendations, and follow after care instructions, you should be fine. He loves them now. Good feeling.

The piercer should be able to provide that information for you

i thought the piercing was extremely painful. i would also suggest you clean and continually move them. The crust build up is very painful and you don't seem to have that if you do it daily.

I lived with my piercer for a long time, and I can get info on how long you have to wait until you can 'play with them' Now mind you my room mate has been piercing people for a good 12-13 years.

I had my left nipple done, nothing, not a pain. It hurts less for girls(well first women have a better pain tolerance then guys, because we can give birth), because they only have to pierce the nipple vs picering behind the aerola (that dark area around the nipple). Now you may ask yourself why, well girls have something to clamp onto while guy's nipples are smaller. Now when my room mate got his done (the piercer himself) he said the most painful thing for him was the clamp... yet I felt nothing.

Now teh cleaning is SOOO important, generally the rule going around is "If you don't put it in your eye, don't clean with it" I was told I could used very diluted Hydrogen Peroxide. It worked fine for my other piercings would have worked fine for this one as well... only thing is keep yourself healthy as you are healing. I didn't... I came down with a cold/the flu or something and as par to my sickness, the body thought my newly found hole was also part of the infection, it rejected it, began to push the nipple ring out... I was looking at it and you could see the metal through the skin, it tore a little in the middle, you could touch the metal. I had to remove it so my body would get better and the nipple didn't tear all the way trough. There is still a hole in my nipple, I mean it is still technically pierced.

I can't wait to get it redone and my other one done as well.

My nipple piercings are going on 4 years old now. I, like you, did all the research I could do prior to getting them done. I was very lucky in that I had a piercer who was quite understanding of my fear. My suggestion for the piercer is someone who will take the time to explain what they are going to, how it will be done and what to expect. If you do not get someone who will take that time then I say move on. I found that it was fear in my mind that caused the pain I felt. The uncertainty of what was going to happen. Which by the way was not as painful as I thought.

A good piercer will ask if you want to wait for the other to be done, or if you would like to continue. Some people will only have one done at a session then return later for the other. That however will be your choice on how you are feeling at the time. I opted for them both at the same time. I thought the courage I had worked up to do it to begin with would disappear. But when he did the second I knew exactly what to expect, how it would feel and I was better able to handle it. I chose the cbr's, which due to my body's intolerance of certain metals I had to use 14k gold. Until they were completely healed, then switched to the stainless steel. Do be sure however that the jewelry you choose is big enough in diameter that you can rotate them and not have any pinching of the nipples.

Many piercers will tell you to use salts, peroxide, antibacterial soaps. The piercer you choose will tell you what most of their clients use and have the best success rate. A sports bra is a great choice as your nipples will be quite tender for a while. Depending on how well your body heals as to the length of time for the healing. The average I have heard is 6-12 months.

I love mine, and wish I had done them years ago.

Good luck to you. Try not to think of pain, relax and breathe.

pervers,
I don't want my nipples pierced. So, I have no first hand knowledge. Other than researching it for others. I do know several people in person who have them pierced.
Everyone has given you advice. Mostly painful advice. So I thought I would throw in some positive advice.
I have an extremely good friend. Had her nipples (both) done maybe 6 month's ago now. She is big into breast play. Actually hangs One litre filled bottles from her nipples. She heard all of the horror stories as well.
Anyway, she got them pierced. She said there was a bit of pain at first. Other than that. They were a bit tender for a while. But, really quite the opposite of all of the horror stories. Pretty much painless.
We do the jacuzzi thing a lot. So clorine gets to them. Maybe it helps the healing process. I know it sanitizes things.
Anyway, it was a pleasurable experience for her.
If you'd like to speak to her yourself let me know. I'll forward on her e-mail address to you. I'm sure she will have a photo to share with you as well.

I just got the go-ahead from my patner (who was still debating it) and I'm going to get them done as soon as I can. I know my peircers pretty well, and will, of course, ask them all these questions as well, but like going into things with as much information as possible.

Thanks again!

Gloria,
if you could, I'd really like her e-mail address, I'm an information slut and want to know as much as possible before diving into someothing, you know? If possible, could you send her e-mail to my collarme address? If not, I'll give you an off-site addy.
Thanks!

My understanding is hot tubs and jacuzzi's can have a lot of bacteria in them even when chlorinated. I would be careful with any open wound in a hot tub. When i had an ingrown toenail that was infected my doc told me no hot tub until it was completely healed.

I don't know if that's true across the board. I have extremely sensitive nipples. Little itty bitty 18 or 20 guage needles through them make me scream like someone is cutting my arm off or something, and there are teeth impressions in a knife sheath 3 yrs later as evidence of how much it hurts. A 12 or 14 guage needle through my nipple is a barely tolerable thought. Yet, I know guys who can do it (or rather, have it done to them) without blinking an eye.

I really don't think it's a gender issue. I think it's very individual, just like most everything else. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, or so I've been told, but needles through my nipples REALLY FREAKING HURTS!

Your understanding is spot on. Jacuzzi's/pools/hot tubs are bad places for new piercings. The heat in jacuzzis/hot tubs is a breeding ground for bacteria and chlorine is harsh on a fresh piercing.

An interesting supposition. Wrong, but interesting nonetheless.
