Asher oh handsome male of virile Hawtness... I am truly sorry for your employment woes but may I make a suggestion? It's time to get creative. Take a good hard look at your skills and what you have been offering here for free for many months that I know of. Write up at least 4 resumes pointed towards different industries and emphasizing different aspects of your skills. E.G. Tech Support, Data Management, Software installation, Web Design and Maintenance, Computer Repair. Now stop looking in IT areas and go direct. See your local large Grocery Retailer, Warehouse Distribution point, Realtors, Housing Managers, the Banks, Adult Education Courses, Legal Offices and even Insurance Companies, and TV stations. Anywhere and everywhere that may use computers, they may be battling themselves to consolidate information with staff reductions, then pitch yourself as either an employee OR a consultant. Many will hire a consultant they don't have to offer benefits to but will still pay a decent living. A small Consulting company I do graphics work for in NY is still doing work for Fordham University after 2 years. Fordham has a IT department, but cutbacks in budgets have made it more economically feasible for them to use consultants to work on certain projects rather than carry a large staff and having them split their time between the regular stuff and the special projects. Also set your prices and list yourself in the local paper (throw aways are cheap) as someone who will come to your home and TEACH, repair or do installations. I have made more than egg money sitting down and teaching older people how to use their computers safely and doing set ups and virus removals. Post flyers anywhere you can, at the store, at colleges, anywhere you legitimately can. Get a throwaway prepaid phone to use as a "Consulting Phone" if you don't want your home number everywhere. Good Luck..we all have faith in you.. Soft I am so sorry that you missed the interview..but when things like that happen it usually tells me that that was NOT the right job for me. Have you tried applying at the Petshops and animal control? You seem to have a knack for them. Gwyn and Soft, may I suggest that you both refile for unemployment and fight the denial if you can? They have been changing some of the restrictions since the economy tanked and you may now be eligible. Kyttyn..HUGS and hang in there...sounds like it is time to hit the doctors office...I finally did yesterday..the cold grew into Bronchitis and the Doctor is worried it will head towards whooping cough or pneumonia, I am now on antibiotics and codiene cough meds so I can rest... X-rays were the final bleh to yesterday..awaiting the results of that. Lynnxz I vote for impressed and wiser...make note..hide the boots before tinykitty does. Girly trade you a tetnus shot which the Doctor seem to think also needed boosting yesterday...GRRRRR Linnea no dieing...revive that wonderful talent that all mothers have of hearing without listening. You know where you are focused on whatever you are doing and you can hear the kids and what they are up to..but are not actively listening until you DON'T hear the right sounds..or hear the wrong ones. That way you can hear if Uncle Needs you, but not pay attention to his general griping save for the occasional Uh HUh. Ray are you kidding at the price of tomatoes..encourage them to throw them and make a nice pasta sauce or salsa!!! Then you will reel them in with you handy skills in the kitchen....Sheesh... poenkitten (coughing up a lung and swallowing so it goes back into place)
