I think it's very inappropriate, Barbie has a reputation for being a good wholesome,and innocent, clean looking doll.This doll is has to say the least looks very sexual , and like she should be standing on a corner  in the red light district.  Barbie has a target audience of children, 3- 10 yrs old, these are toys for little girls and boys. not adult toys. A child under the age of 10 has no business looking at a leather coat, fishnet stockings, under her panties,with knee high boots and gloves on. Society in general with the theater movies that are out, TV  programs and the Britney Spears and the Pussycat dolls needs to be more careful of our children, sexual innuendos are slamming them every time they turn around.  Children are very impressionable, I don't think it is setting a very good example of what morals are all about. The kinky and sexual lifestyle is for adults period. There is plenty of time to learn all about it all after the innocence of being a child is over

Besides.... Don't most children dress and Undress their barbie? In mixed company?
.

None of the barbies that "live" in my house have clothes on anymore. They all came in the cutest outfits which tend to never be seen again.......maybe they go to the same place that all the lost socks do!

Amadan -> RE: S&M Barbie Doll (7/18/2008 1:36:44 AM)

most of the Barbies around my shop are still naked, but the Movement continues ever onwards.

The ones who have undergone the full Faerie Warrior Princess make over adorne my shop ceiling.

Reminds me... I need to forge up more Barbie scale weapons....

Eh. I'll take this over the Bratz dolls any day. Valyraen and I have already decided that any Bratz things our kids get as gifts will be destroyed. Fuck at least Barbie looks like she might be able to survive if she were turned into a human. I'd much rather explain to my daughter why she can't wear that outfit at 8 than the stuff they put on the Bratz dolls.

Well, adults do buy and collect them so they are not for children only.  And someone pointed out that these models are only sold at specialty stores.

Wholesomeness aside, I recall quite vividly my childhood years when I would take my sisters Barbie dolls and strip them naked and stick pins in their breasts and between their legs.  A harbinger of my adulthood enjoyment of sadism and needle play. :)

Even some kids kinkify Barbies they get their hands on.

The news story I read about it a couple days ago had a quote from someone from the Christian Voice that went something like "Barbie has always been tarty."

Doesn't anyone remember that the original Barbie doll design was based on a German sex toy sold on the Reeperbahn? No lie. Circa 1958, I believe, and it provided the basic concept for what Mattel produced. My pragmatic mom said, when I got my 1962 original Barbie, that she "looked like a 25-year-old prostitute" and not any kind of teenager as the marketing baloney said. I lost interest in her after I tried to let her hair down and discovered she was bald all but the hairline. Yuck.

I'm sorry but I laugh every time I read this.

Because this is being said by someone who grew up and by Society Standards became a Sexual Deviant Anyway. So either you Blame Society for YOUR actions because someone didn't stop the impressional images you were seeing or you prove it doesn't matter what you see as a child you can still end up as a Sexual Deviant anyway.

I mean anyone in this lifestyle who has children and who finds these dolls innapropriate needs to take a look at what is under thier bed or in thier closet and ask yourself if you really think your children don't know and then more over ask if you didn't know what was in your parents room.

The first Playboy I ever beat off too was my Fathers.

Growing up I know everyone hiding spot and what was in it. Why? Because children are curious and you can't watch them 24 hours a day.

I'm not really upset about this, but I do think it's inappropriate. Barbie is marketed to children and I don't like the idea of little girls being told that dressing like a hooker will make you pretty. I think Wonder Woman would have been a better choice.

Now I'm wondering what they could do with My Little Pony....

Shudders at the thought of an anatomically correct little pony.

Or care bear,for that matter.

"Whips and Chains Bear Care!" That's disturbing and hilarious at the same time.

My Barbies were always spanking Ken. Poor Ken. Lucky Ken. Just to prove that this lifestyle is inherent to our genes, I grew up to be a spanko.

But ken had the inherent advantage of already being a full castrado. All he needed to be the perfect sub was a 1/4" hole bored between his ass cheeks to take a strap on. [:D]

*Snickers* I wonder if singing opera is one of his hobbies. That's actually a fun idea, have your castrated sub hit high notes while you give it to them. I'll have to remember that.
Come to think of it, I heard that some of the very first Ken dolls were anatomically correct. Anybody know if that's true?

Laugh as you will, Steel.  Crickey, lets just show our children to the kink clubs at birth, or maybe we should wait until they are 3-10 yrs old.
Judge me as you will, but, I did not learn of this lifestyle until I was of age, wayyy over 18, more like into my late 20's, my deviant behavior comes with consequences, the emotional and psychological demands that I am now able to handle and understand at this age, thus, able to make my own choices in life.
If I should choose to dress in black panties and a  black leather jacket with black fishnet stocking with a pair of black knee high boots on, I sure as hell better know what I am getting myself into.
 As I stated,  Barbie is an " Icon," for a good wholesome doll,  and has a target audience of  3-10 yr old children. I can just hear it now..
Mommy, I want the " Sultry Barbie"  for Chirstmas, So I can grow up and be just like her. You might not understand this but, many little girls fantasize about being just like Barbie when they grow up.
It is " our job " as a society to protect our children, sadly I see you do not feel the same way, Nor did Mattel.
But they did feel like sueing the maker of Bratz, only because that creator was  working for Mattel, when he created the Idea for the Bratz doll.
There are many trashy looking dolls out there, and very easy to find.
Where are the ones that represent morals and integrity. I suppose those things in life don't matter much to you , and or if you wish to raise a decent human being.
First impression are eveything.

Over the last some odd years Barbie has caught hell for many reasons, anyone remember the "Mommy" barbie, that had maternity clothes, a belly pack thing that had an actual tiny lil baby in it, even though Barbie isn't married? I disagree, these dolls are not wholesome, innocent or clean looking, even when I played with barbies 20 + years ago the clothes were trampy. *shrugs*

Seriously curious, how in the hell does a doll represent morals or integrity?  These qualities should be taught to children by their parents, not by their toys. It's simple, if you do not think your children should be playing with this or any other toy, do not buy them the toy in question.

angelicbitch -> RE: S&M Barbie Doll (7/18/2008 11:05:51 PM)

I don't think barbie is wholesome either ... to me they give girls and boys too for that matter that women are supposed to look like that ... I had a butt ton of barbies when I was younger ... most got used as voodoo dolls lol ... or my brother would steal them and do bad things to them lol...

My girls had many as well ..but that doll is no more wholesome then the bratz, cheetah girls dolls or any of the other dolls they have for lil girls....

Peace
Angelic

this is a point I had intended to bring up earlier, but got that annoying "posting too fast" msg..then got distracted..LOL

aggressiveblkdom -> RE: S&M Barbie Doll (7/19/2008 1:22:48 AM)

Hmmmm, this sounds to me like another example of some christian parent group who wants to push the responsibility of raising their child off onto the media or entertainment industry instead of doing it themselves. Let's see....last time I checked Mattel isn't the one who decided to have a child so they arent the ones responsible for what your child is exposed to. Hey, that sounds like the job of (suprise!!) A PARENT.
