I think it's very inappropriate, Barbie has a reputation for being a good wholesome,and innocent, clean looking doll.This doll is has to say the least looks very sexual , and like she should be standing on a corner  in the red light district.  Barbie has a target audience of children, 3- 10 yrs old, these are toys for little girls and boys. not adult toys. A child under the age of 10 has no business looking at a leather coat, fishnet stockings, under her panties,with knee high boots and gloves on. Society in general with the theater movies that are out, TV  programs and the Britney Spears and the Pussycat dolls needs to be more careful of our children, sexual innuendos are slamming them every time they turn around.  Children are very impressionable, I don't think it is setting a very good example of what morals are all about. The kinky and sexual lifestyle is for adults period. There is plenty of time to learn all about it all after the innocence of being a child is over

I'm sorry but I laugh every time I read this.

Because this is being said by someone who grew up and by Society Standards became a Sexual Deviant Anyway. So either you Blame Society for YOUR actions because someone didn't stop the impressional images you were seeing or you prove it doesn't matter what you see as a child you can still end up as a Sexual Deviant anyway.

I mean anyone in this lifestyle who has children and who finds these dolls innapropriate needs to take a look at what is under thier bed or in thier closet and ask yourself if you really think your children don't know and then more over ask if you didn't know what was in your parents room.

The first Playboy I ever beat off too was my Fathers.

Growing up I know everyone hiding spot and what was in it. Why? Because children are curious and you can't watch them 24 hours a day.

Steel

Laugh as you will, Steel.  Crickey, lets just show our children to the kink clubs at birth, or maybe we should wait until they are 3-10 yrs old.
Judge me as you will, but, I did not learn of this lifestyle until I was of age, wayyy over 18, more like into my late 20's, my deviant behavior comes with consequences, the emotional and psychological demands that I am now able to handle and understand at this age, thus, able to make my own choices in life.
If I should choose to dress in black panties and a  black leather jacket with black fishnet stocking with a pair of black knee high boots on, I sure as hell better know what I am getting myself into.
As I stated,  Barbie is an " Icon," for a good wholesome doll,  and has a target audience of  3-10 yr old children. I can just hear it now..
Mommy, I want the " Sultry Barbie"  for Chirstmas, So I can grow up and be just like her. You might not understand this but, many little girls fantasize about being just like Barbie when they grow up.
It is " our job " as a society to protect our children, sadly I see you do not feel the same way, Nor did Mattel.
But they did feel like sueing the maker of Bratz, only because that creator was  working for Mattel, when he created the Idea for the Bratz doll.
There are many trashy looking dolls out there, and very easy to find.
Where are the ones that represent morals and integrity. I suppose those things in life don't matter much to you , and or if you wish to raise a decent human being.
First impression are eveything.

Who in their right mind gives a 3 year old a barbie doll?  They come with all sorts of little accessories, like shoes, that are a clear choking hazard.  And when if  ever did this stiletto-wearing, perky-huge-boobed doll represent anything wholesome?

Like most parents I gave in the peer pressure and gave my 7 year old a barbie, but she quickly undressed her, cut off her hair and lost interest...choosing instead to rerrange her stuffed animals to her heart's content.

I've always hated this doll, but there it is, and who the hell cares what outfit Mattel puts on her next?  How is making her look 'slutty' any more detrimental to a girl than reinforcing a belief that all good girls grow up to be princesses...or want to?

No whips, chains, cuffs or gags so she sure isn't an S&M model. Heck, she is more fully clothed then most of these female (so called) singers that parents let there kids watch and idolize.

aperversetwist -> RE: S&M Barbie Doll (8/25/2008 12:36:45 PM)

The interesting thing is that I don't recall this kind of media hype over Catwoman Barbie

So here are some interesting images to compare:
Superwoman Barbie http://www.barbiecollector.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=L9639
Black Canary Barbie: http://www.barbiecollector.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=L9640

Black Canary is arguably more covered...  So is it that her outfit is black and shiny that is so bad?  I don't understand the thinking behind groups protesting this stuff.  They need to get a life.

As noted above ....

It isnt 'groups'. It is one lone lunitac.
It isn't 'protests'. It is a tabloid callingup and asking questions in order to create artificial hype.

aperversetwist -> RE: S&M Barbie Doll (8/25/2008 2:40:51 PM)

I meant groups in the more general sense of people who protest things that have no effect on them.

Though on the Black Canary Barbie there have been a couple of different outcrys from different individuals/groups

marieToo -> RE: S&M Barbie Doll (8/25/2008 8:46:53 PM)

I don't see it as an S & M Barbie.  I just see her as dressed in a certain garb that some bdsmer's wear.  A lot of non-ds people wear stuff like that too.  I love the way they call the stockings "kinky fishnets".  Yes, a lot of "goth" women wear them nowadays, but women from all walks of life have been wearing fish net stockings for decades.

UR2Badored -> RE: S&M Barbie Doll (8/27/2008 9:36:09 AM)

Not BDSM Barbie related , but an adult collector (black label) Barbie.  Oh so cool!  Alfred Hitchcock and Barbie merge as classics collide.

Why is this necessary?  Dog-Sh*t Barbie

UR2Badored -> RE: S&M Barbie Doll (8/27/2008 12:10:28 PM)

MarieToo,
lol  cute and sick?  Can you imagine the person who presented this idea to mattel.......I have to wonder how mattel labeled "fecal matter included".  Features reusable, edible dog dung time and time again--just like real dogs.

Side note: Mattel is launching in February 2009--Carol Burnett Barbie costumed as Scarlet O'Hara complete with curtain rod (Bob Mackie).  All that would be missing in the world of dolls would be The Golden Girl Barbies complete with depends and geritol.

To hopefully teach them at a young age to pick up after their goddamn yappy dog when they take them for a walk and to NOT leave landmines of dog shit on my lawn.

GreedyTop -> RE: S&M Barbie Doll (8/27/2008 5:29:27 PM)

ok, I like the Birds barbie,

and Pyrrs...I SO agree!!

Briena -> RE: S&M Barbie Doll (8/27/2008 9:41:32 PM)

I think its cool that they have a black canary barbie.  Id buy it for my son.  We collect comics and comic book characters for him.  She has the sonic scream power thing and she hooks up with Green Arrow!  I think she kicks ass.  Her personality is totally dominating.  She kicks a lot of ass.  She was trained by wildcat... Atleast in the latest versions of her.  I think she should be a role model for all Female Doms out there LOL!
