Black Canary has been around for YEARS AND YEARS! Her costume, just like most other comic character costumes, is a representation of her personality. It has nothing to do with SEX, although I would say that she is one of the hotter DC characters. We collect comic book movies, comics, and comic book characters for my son and he is only 3 1/2. I would buy this doll for him just to add it to the collection of other comic memoriabilia that we have for him. I personally think that Black Canary is a great role model for girls, and for women. Shes confidant, she does whats right not whats easy, she helps the innocent, shes a leader, shes completly in control of herself, and she allows no one to dictate how she should or shouldnt be. She is self sufficent and independant. She fights for what she believes in even if she is alone in that fight. I admire those traits. Shes a much better role model than what you see on TV now. She isnt teaching children about sex or anything in the kink scene, so their innocence will remain intact. You should do some research before spouting off about how this character is a representation of the kink and sexual lifestyles that we adults have. You completly made yourself look like an idiot with this post. Atleast I think so anyways.

FR: Do any of you remember the controversy sparked when Mattel introduced a "hipper, more modern" Ken, wearing a purple pleather vest, and earring and what anyone in the know KNEW was a cock ring necklace? He was "Earring Magic Ken" and he sold out because EVERY gay boy had to have one. And you believe sexualizing Barbie is accidental? I juried an "Art + Feminism" show in Milwaukee in the late 70s, and we had an entry of stereotyped Barbies. "Trapped in a pink collar Job" Barbie and "Unable to express her sexuality" Barbie are two I remember. They were actually weak and not well done, and they didn't win entry to the show. But I thought at the time (and still do) that millions of little girls were crying out for "Crack whore Barbie" (and they were...ever see "Bratz"?) and my favorite "Blow Job Barbie". How do YOU think she got that Corvette? By the way, if Ken were anatomically correct based on the cock ring he wears....whoooo hoooo. Move over John Holmes! E.

Fast Reply Not pointed at any one post Barbie has come in many styles and fashions since her inception, each age has put their mark on her, and on the special edition Barbies as well. While she was originally designed for little girls, I doubt very many parents are going to pay for a Bob Mackie Special edition and hand it over to their 5 year old. The Black Canary edition is not necessarily for the kiddies either, but it is a choice each parent is going to have to make for themselves. Go to any Mall and you will likely see outfits just as outrageous on teens and young adults, hanging in windows on mannequins and posters. One of the worst I think is this style called "Jailin", I don't particularly want to see someones tatty ratty boxers leaning over the meat at the grocery store. Turn on the TV and watch an episode of the Bratz or half the other cartoons out there on the cartoon network and Disney shows and you will see pretty much the same thing. It's everywhere not just on Barbie and kids are going to see it. OR..turn off the TV, sit down and read to your kids and talk to them about appropriate clothing to wear outside. Teach them Morals, and Values and they will resist them temptation as they grow into responsible adults. But, and I enjoin those who say things are inappropriate for kids, please don't be hypocrites... your life choices have been hard enough, and accepting that knowledge about yourself may not have been easy, even to the point you have hidden it from friends and family. Don't let your kids feel that it is something to be ashamed of or they may end up hiding things from you as they grow into their own sexuality. Talk with them, age appropriate about everything they see, every one they meet and maybe they will grow up to make a world more accepting of the differences between us all. MarieToo, You made me look[8D] There are some of these recalled Kens shown on EBAY! (he definitely makes more of a statement than the Black Canary Doll that btw has a black label (this label specifically is marketed for the Adult collector)--there are currently only 4 barbies on the mattel BC website that indicates a black label. You, the one(s) who brought your child into the world, are responsible for how they are raised. Not teachers, not the government. Education about morals, values and ethics begins and belongs AT HOME!
