Just because some of us are young does not mean we lack "real life" experience. Sure, it's likely to be a minority, but don't tar us all, please, m'kay.

Strangely, being a slave taught me I was not one. I'm submissive, and that's pretty much that. I may have qualities that could in some circumstances liken me to what some might define as a slave, but, I'm submissive, and if you sitck the "slave" label on me, I will damn well hit you with the nearest available hurty object/poke you with a fork.

Ok, you're right. I and my 20-something friends who also identify as slave are jokes. We're just here to yank your chain. I hate seeing the age card played out. Its so unfair because really what can one say to that? I can't deny being young. It is what it is. I am a young girl with some extremely submissive tendencies. I identify as a slave because I like how it sounds and how it feels to be treated like a slave.

When i read the title i thought it was going to be about an article i once read regarding what it was like to be a slave. i thought it was a very good article which outlined important aspects of what slavery would be like, for anyone considering it. i think the qualities or skills a slave brings to the table depend upon the Master - a good one brings out the best qualities in a slave, or can certainly motivate her to improve her skills. What would it matter if a slave had 100 skills and all the Master wanted was someone who could give good head anyway

In my view it is just an elevated word that most of those that carry it have no clue what it means to be one.

I simply believe that only 1 in 10 that carry the description are truely so.

I agree. I debate whether it is even possible to be a "consensual" slave. Submissiveness is a state of being. Slavery is a state of existence -- it has nothing to do with individual philosophy. Slavery compels regardless of the individual's nature, and forces even the unwilling to accept. It is also illegal and cannot be enforced. Submissiveness is within a person, but slavery is an external force and has nothing to do with the depth or completeness of one's capacity to submit to another.

I agree that "consensual slave" is an oxymoron.

But "servant" implies a useful entity.

I "get it" and agree with the concept too. However, my experience would indicate that the appropriate reaction to any profile label is a big 'so what?' until you meet. Using the same standard that you have concerning the label without experience referenced; why should the experience reference be taken as fact? Then again, experience can be a bad thing or a habit that needs breaking. Suppose her experience was to speak only in third person and you hated that? What if the 'slave positions' he/she have mastered aren't the ones you desire?

What you have in profiles are people using other profiles as a guide. The majority have no idea what they want, or think they want something when its better kept a fantasy. My personal favorites are the slaves, and 'submissives' for that matter that take up half their profile telling you what they won't do. It's incredible, but not as incredible as the 'dominants' lining up to serve them and their desires.

Again, from personal experience, if I required 'experience' or references for a 'skill set', I'd still be searching. Maybe it was my general skepticism, or east coast attitude, but I didn't (and don't) trust any profile ad. Their value is as a tool to help determine if the person has intelligence, can put more than two words into a sentence, and has the ability to use a 'spell check' program.

beth had no experience, no 'slave skills', no references to check. her profile was a simple disclosure of naiveté, private fantasies, and a request for a 'gentle Master' to hold her hand as she walked down a path that, more than anything else, scared her as much as excited her. I read in her profile a desire to be nothing more than 'herself'; with an amazing admission that she really had no idea what that was or would turn out to be. If she used 'slave' within that profile, it would have been irrelevant.

Now she is a 'slave'; my slave, under my definition. As our sig line says; we've posted a lot of anecdotes about our lives, but to understand what 'slave', or for that matter 'Master' means and represents to us - you have to observe it and experience it first hand. The same holds for anyone, a profile is only words.
