Slaves who are subs - 8/6/2008 6:48:56 PM

Greetings,
I have been here for a bit now and have noticed a plethora of subs calling themselves slaves. I realize different folks have different ideas of what and how things work but to me a slave is the submissive party in a M/s relationship and a M/s relationship's core premise is centered around TPE,  the slaves complete surrender to the Master. So what gives?

What gives is that people can call themselves cucumbers if they like, and there nothing you and you're self-righteous attitude can do about it.

*Shrug*

Really dude, what gives you the authority to decide who is what?

*Edit*
I re-read your question... are you irked that subs are calling themselves slaves- or asking about the difference?

Then why not just call themselves cucumbers and for that matter why have any definitions what so ever? Why don't we just call the lifestyle the big hairy fucking igloo?

There is your answer, nothing is black and white. You have have your definition and ideals and others have theirs. People identify and live their dynamics as it works for them.

Maybe cucumbers wasn't such a good analogy. Slave or sub, they are still submitting to someone. If you want to know what someone's personal dynamic is, you should ask them. However, if you try to cram YOUR viewpoint on everyone else in the lifestyle- and some have been in much longer than you- you are destined for failure.

Well if I drive a BMW and Call it a Mercedes people are going to start giving me strange looks. I understand there are many different ways to look at things and define things but why even bother with definitions if there isn't some basic premise?

M/s-Dominant party is in power
D/s-Submissive party is in power
Fundamentally different concepts.

but to me

I kept only the important part of that statement. TO YOU you have the definiton of a slave that suits you. We may all have different defenitions. I have 2 slaves. Fox is a live in, 24/7 TPE relationship as of today. Angel has his own apartment, I see him about once a week and about half the time we are together we are fairly if not completely vanilla. Far far from a TPE. So, are you going to tell me he isnt a slave?

But this is only from your point of view... there are thousands more people out there who might not agree with your definition. Do a search for "Sub Slave" or something like that through this forum. This topic has been discussed to death, and people still don't fully agree.

9 times out of 10, the topics are started by some guy who has gotten it in his head that THIS way is THE way, and why in the hell isn't everyone doing it right, damnit??

That is precisely what he will tell you because he knows the one twue way.

(He prolly doesn't think I'm a slave either.)

I know this is a fairly simple reply but having been involved in  M/s, D/s and s&m relationships, it is my opinion that all slaves are submissive but not all submissives are slaves.

Each person defines themself as they see themself, each relationship and relationship dynamic is unique to them.  I would never try to tell someone who/what they are, I can only speak for myself in that I am a submissive with slave tendencies depending on my partner.

You are still the holder of power and you decided the construct and that totally falls within the definition. If you read my post before this I made the point that
M/s-Dominant is in power
D/s-submissive is in power
TPE doesn't  require a 24/7 live in senerio, I use the military protocols as my example of how M/s relationships work because no slave is kept at attention all the time they are also at parade rest and at ease some of the time. It is really how the dominant party defines it that matters.

This is your definition, but not necessarily the definition of others.

I am a slave to my Master, but I retain the power to leave should I so choose.  I also have have limits and boundaries in regards to my life, our relationship and play time.

There is no universally accepted definition of the labels that are so frequently used by people in this "lifestyle".  So getting bent out of shape because others wear a label that doesn't fit your definition is silly.

Just do what works for you and yours, and call yourselves whatever makes you happy....... and don't worry about what everyone else does.

Angel was a slave when I met him, I did not decide the construct. Good try though.
Your way is not the only way.
There are people who identify as slave who have never been owned, and others who identify as submissive who are part of longterm relationships.
Get over yourself and deal with the fact that not everyone is going to agree with you.

DV

I am done with the thread and the attention craving OP. I have a feeling this is just so he can hear himself talk about his one TWUE way and no matter what anyone says he has a comeback. Not my interest debating with someone who is always going to be right even if they are wrong.

I'm curious about your statement in another thread just below this one- you said something about 'Everyone does it differently"

Why exactly does that not apply here?

Also, how did you manage to come to this amazing conclusion that you are the holder of the one true way?

Same here.  And it took a while for me to accept the "slave tendencies" part.  God, I HATE, HATE, HATE labels.   To try and compartmentalize people into one particular role in life is in my mind pretty pointless.

Based on your premise then I will call myself GOD. I don't fit the basic premise of what GOD is but what the hell it sounds good.

Actually Every person in every position has to have Incredible control and power over one's self to be in this life...

Dont believe me go to a slave and push every button until shes so mad shes seeing red and see what happens? she doesnt explode shes exerting control and power over her emotions. Same with a Master.

Im a good girl, Beliving in slaves or not (my opinion) I dont care what ANYONE calls themselves as long as they are truthful and respectful to me.

Im not going to discount an owner Just because a Dom is Lord Master Fru Fur of  the Lacy Flies.
