i've been interested in this question for some time as i have often looked at the 'hit' rate to posts and it is approximately ten times the response rate.: so for every 10 responses on a thread there are about 100 others reading that thread. That's quite a hit rate and yet i wonder why those 90 don't respond by posting themselves.
i joined collarme because of a refferral from a friend and immediately felt it was like a spiritual home...indeed it does feel like the world's largest bdsm community and i have not only met my One but made truly amazing friends here in the year i have been on collarme. As 'prinsexx' i also used the journal facility to write as there is a different motivation knowing that others are going to read one's words.
This is also in defence of this community which has been called 'flaky' and is the subject of another thread.
So why are you on collarme?


Because it's better than IC.  Seriously.  Have you read the threads on there?
The hit rate thing I put down to vanity(best word I can think of right now), rather than the amount of people viewing Vs. posting.  People zoom back to see if anyone has responded to their posts.  Plus if people are being particularly tacky and trying to usurp a thread by hijacking it about their favourite sandwich or cookie, I expect the moderators and usual vultures and soaplovers keep a regular eye on a thread and that probably sends it up.

I originally came because it was a BDSM site. No other reason. Then, a guy I was involved with wanted us to have a 3rd, so I used the site to look for a third.  When that relationship failed, I moved to using this site for the forums.  I've made friends, and that means the world to me.

I came here in my search for info on the lifestyle.  I had allways been doing this stuff but when I finally found the label for it I searched site after site for info and well the forums here became an incredible source.  I stuck around since I started meeting some really great people and for the first time in my life I have met and talked with what I considere to be some of the best damn woman I have ever met in my life.

I got referred onto the boards here as a learning resource .... I enjoy using it to test my opinions and views on things ... I like my mind to be challeneged as much as my body.

I really like it here ... just wish the Engliskers were better represented ... is nice intellectual sparring with people in person as well as via the forumns

i, like many others, first came here looking for a Master.  When i was fortunate enough to find mine, i stayed for the forums.  i have learned so much from what has been posted here, and some of what i have learned has provided interesting conversations between my Master and i.  i stay so that i can continue to learn and make friends.

Well, I came here hoping to find someone, also to learn and explore this aspect of my personality.. I have since become addicted to the forums, and I love reading about everyone's experiences and their opinions.. I am pretty shy and stay in the background, but I am loving all the things I am learning about. =)

IC is good if you want to know fairly localised information about munches and gatherings in specific cities and some other peculiar to the UK.  But it is not really very comprehensive.  Also the chat facilities are pretty basic at best.

I came originally as a request from a friend...she was talking to a Dominant here and thought perhaps i might know him. (sheesh, i swear i don't know everyone in Florida!)   I personally had been using a couple of other sites with BDSM, D/s areas but found CM pretty interesting....though i haven't ventured into any of the chat rooms i greatly enjoy the message boards these days.....talked to some really interesting people, met a few people real time and hope to develope a LTR with a Dominant..........

I first came to CollarMe because I was looking for a place to meet people who I share a common interest with. I also came with the intention of PERHAPS finding someone interested in real time play/a power based relationship. I have met, and talked to (at least in passing) several interesting people, and have gotten advice on some issues that were really important to Me, and generally had a blast. I love this site, and feel very fortunate to be a part of this large, welcoming, generally open-minded community.

Well  i came to CM  to read the forums, i enjoy listening to all the input and ideas everyone has to offer and going to start making it a point to add my 2 cents for what ever its worth. i also have met some really wonderful ppl and hope to meet more. not really here for the "dating serves" as i honestly dont feel im ready for a relationship be it nilla or BDSM.
