How to gt to Nebraska from Ireland:
1) Fly to New York
2) Rent car, drive west on Interstate 80 for about 12 hours
3) Turn around and go back

I don't mean to harsh anyone who lives in Nebraska, but I've driven the length a couple of times and at the very best it is tedious.  8 hours of nothing but farm fields from Omaha to Ogalla.  Even worse if you happen to be driving through a snow storm :(

CS: How about saying in your profile somthing like:
Please, no one under the age of xx unless you're unfuckingbeleivably special and can prove in your 1st message.

That should satisfy pretty much everyone, no?

Dave that can't be right, can it?

It takes like 16 hours to drive from Jacksonville to Miami.

I've looked at those big square states on the left and the all look huge... can you cross even one in just 12 hours?

There just is no 'but', Dave.  The young ones just do it for me. Why do *I* have to change how *I* feel to suit people on a message board?  About who I'd be intereted in being intimate with?

Seems to me some people have been a little naughty --I thought we were supposed to make an effort to be tolerant of one another?

Sorry Daddyslilredhead, I didn't mean to ignore your question.

I thought everyone used the phrase as slang.

Your clue phone is ringing (and all its variations) = you need to pay attention to something.

Meant to convey warmth amd humor, but pointing out that your listener is missing something.

As in:

Hey, girlfriend, answer your clue phone.

meaning:

Hey there friend..you need to pay attention to <thing, event, etc.>

That was a bit more difficult to explain than I would have thought; hope it was clear.

Ya really never heard it before?

JAX to TPA: Driving directions to Tampa, FL197 mi – about 3 hours 30 mins

TPA to MIA :
286 mi – about 4 hours 21 mins

You might want to reconsider your routing.

i'm guessing that's a typo but are you saying now that you LIKE the younger people?
seriously, if you don't want younger people contacting you just go "nobody under a certain age contact me" and you won't get it
failing to do so and then whining when you get contacted by everyone is just a waste of everyone's time

nobody's trying to make you "chaaaaange" *snif snif sob*, people are just suggesting a pro-active way to remedy something you dislike so much that you felt like it warranted a thread.
so either take the steps to stop it from happening or don't. but if you don't, don't whine about it.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: Clue Phone for 20-somethings (11/2/2008 6:06:07 PM)

Greedy, whenever I drive outside of my umm...10 block radius,  I keep in mind the strawberry-blonde factor.  I double the time for the blonde moments, where I get lost and read the map wrong, then I factor in a extra hour of redhead temper time, because sometimes it takes  little longer to get the last word in.

So, 6 hours is reasonable - although I'd give myself 10.

Daddysredhead -> RE: Clue Phone for 20-somethings (11/2/2008 6:46:59 PM)

Candy,

I can actually say that I have never in my 38 years heard of a clue phone.  [8|]

And...  it's about 17 hours driving from Northern VA to Orlando/Kissimmee.  A trip I've made about seven times.

And the last time the ex and I took the Things to FL, we actually drove from Miami to Jacksonville.  I took us about 6 hours +, and that was with potty breaks for the little ones.  Just to be sure I wasn't losing it, I did a mapquest and this is what it said:

Estimated Time: 5 hours 21 minutes Estimated Distance: 345.44 miles

Then to triple seal the deal, I asked my dad, who used to drive big rigs along that route in his earlier day and he said about 6 hours/350 miles.  So, like Greedy said, I'd check your route because someone's taking you around the mulberry bush.

ETA:  Dear ole dad said, "Sixteen hours from Jacksonville to Miami?  How?  By way of North Carolina?!?!"  [:D]

CalifChick -> RE: Clue Phone for 20-somethings (11/2/2008 6:59:28 PM)

Sorry, I've never heard of the "clue phone" either.  I have, however, applied a clue-by-four upside of someone's head.  But a phone? Nope.
