NormalOutside -> RE: fastest you've ever driven? (11/9/2008 11:10:44 PM)

I took my Mazda 3 to 180 kph on the highway to test it's top speed.  It mighta gone a bit faster had I kept on it, but I was running out of safe "track".  I'm no speed freak anyway.

I was chasing a car that was obviously a high powered sports car....everytime i got close he would pull away. I had the cruiser floored on a nice open road and it was doing everything she had.....needle was buried at 120. The guys in the garage later told me the top speed was 142 so I was somewhere in there.

Hmm did your patrol car have the interceptor package on it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Crown_Victoria_Police_Interceptor
Goobers put a governer on the newer models.

I *know* those bad boys go damn fast. I miss mine..  *super pouts* But my 72 lincon cont. would win against it in a long course.... (dont ask.. LOL but he owed me steak breakfasts for a month.)

Did you see the new patrol car they are thinking of making? I would go back in if I got one of them damn it! http://carbonmotors.com/   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWVufP6KyTQ&eurl=http://carbonmotors.com/videos/5/Ours-is-Real

I want one!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbI3xXlF1Z0   it has The Rumbler built in of course..

Dnomyar -> RE: fastest you've ever driven? (11/10/2008 4:07:19 AM)

I had a 56 dodge ram. Dont know the top speed. The guy I brought it from used ro race it. I know one time the needle was maxed out at 140 and it felt like the car was floating on air. I had several cars with big engines that I pushed to the limit.

urtoy -> RE: fastest you've ever driven? (11/10/2008 4:12:58 AM)

Just over 110 in my Ram pickup on a deserted country road. i have a definite need for speed.

momandaughter -> RE: fastest you've ever driven? (11/10/2008 4:21:56 AM)

Just a little over 190 mph, in a Rover-BRM prototype, rebuilt by a car nut who was a friend of my father's.
This was on a track, though, and very much in a straight line with a very long wind-up :-)... don't know if it counts??

I recently drove down the German autobahn at 110mph.

Whats the fastest you've ever driven a car? (NB not a motorbike, and being a passenger at high speed doesnt count)

E

I shot a butt plug out of my ass.  Felt like it was going about 150mph.  Does that count?  (I'm sure I looked very ladylike)

sappatoti -> RE: fastest you've ever driven? (11/10/2008 8:45:12 AM)

New York State Thruway with a State Trooper escort... 1986 Dodge Colt (yes, you read that correctly)... speedo pegged at 90 MPH though troopers stated we were doing over 120 MPH at times... and it was raining at the time.

I'll never, EVER do that again (unless it's a heavy car designed to go fast).

HarleyKitty69 -> RE: fastest you've ever driven? (11/10/2008 8:50:30 AM)

Are you kidding me ??
I grew up in germany ...NO SPEED LIMIT

I remember doing over 150 KPH with my mother Ford Scorpio

BUT PLEASE DON'T TELL HER ... she might be 71 now but she'll still kill me over it

LaTigresse -> RE: fastest you've ever driven? (11/10/2008 8:52:07 AM)

I've had several vehicles that I buried the needle as far to the right as it would go. The stock cars and drag strip stuff, I wasn't looking at any gauges. I was too busy keeping it on the forward, and in control, path.

I know I pushed 200 a time or two. It's been fun having friends in racing and brothers that are motorheads.

150 KPH = 93.+ MPH...

Not bad but isn't that car designed to be a pocket rocket of sorts?

{... edited after a Google search ...}

Never mind. I was thinking of the Mercury Merkur.

HarleyKitty69 -> RE: fastest you've ever driven? (11/10/2008 8:57:24 AM)

A pocket rocket ???
No it was a midsize car .... if I understand the term pocket rocket right

sappatoti -> RE: fastest you've ever driven? (11/10/2008 8:59:17 AM)

Yeah, I went back and looked it up. "An Executive's Ford" was how a couple of non-Ford sites described the Scorpio. My bad.

Oh, I remember, you're one of those tight asses that obsess about speed limits, under inflated tires and those silly traffic lanes. I'm afraid that I'm a sailor and pilot at heart and like to go as fast as I'm blown and believe the shortest distance between two points is a straight line.Besiides, the hula doll on my dash wears a St Christopher's medal, so I figure I'll be ok.

Btw, I'm having eye surgery on Wednesday to remove cataracts that I seem to have gotten from too much time on the water. Next time you ride with me, I should actually be able to see where I'm going.

Does this mean that she doesn't have to have her hand on your thigh?[8D]

I understand that your view from the back seat was obstructed. She didn't actually have her hand on my thigh...it was on my balls. When I went too fast for her comfort or indulged in other pleasures of maneuvering my nimble Jetta in traffis, Cali dug in  Worked, didn't it ?

MasterVirago -> RE: fastest you've ever driven? (11/10/2008 9:23:59 AM)

I hit 120 in a friends jag (we'll his dad's [:D]).
I'm surprised I didn't destroy that car, I was never really good at driving a stick.
Anyway, it's was around 4/5 in the morning, cruising up US1 on the east cost of FL, on our way back from Key West.

Strangely enough, I had perfect control while driving, but had a hard time maintaining control when slowing down.

Anyone know why that was?

LaTigresse -> RE: fastest you've ever driven? (11/10/2008 10:56:47 AM)

Have you ever been through a really scary event but were totally calm. THEN, after everything was over with you got all weak and shaky?

Or, maybe the front end was a little out of alignment. I've lent my kids one of the cars several times and once it came back out of whack. My daughter neglected to tell me she drove over a curb. It wasn't noticable at low speeds, really got wobbly around 60 then smoothed out again at 75 or so.

Orrrr, I have no clue![:D]
