My safeword has sort of evolved, now it's a two-part word, "doxie glitch." Both words spoken together clearly mean stop, undo me, this isn't working, I feel ill, etc, but essentially the scene is over and I want out. "Doxie" by itself though means hold on, something isn't working, you need to stop what you're doing but I don't want to end this so we need a bit of communication before we go on. If gagged or otherwise verbally incommunicado, I resort to a "rule of threes." Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action... Anything done three times is the signal to mean stop, I need to say something. That something might be my safeword, or maybe just a need to say something important (um, I have to tinkle?). It might be three finger snaps, three stomps of a heel, three big head tosses, whatever; three of something that can't help but be noticed. No safeword play, now that's a whole different and exciting subject...
