The source of arrogance in my opinion is fear or insecurity. I do not need arrogance at all in my relationships, being dominant and sincere works best for me. It gives me the greatest kick and the slave submits much more, gives much more than if I appear to be arrogant. Arrogance is a mask, it is something that can be broken, therefore a weakness.

Personally, I would rather see a man with arrogance...

of course, to me, it's nothing more than a show of confidence....which in turn is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge turn on.

AND

I will second the welcome musha...welcome to the forums

This is only partly correct and only two of the reasons for arrogance as you would know if you read my post. Some nationalities have a natural propensity for being arrogant and are not even aware of it. If you find the time and have the ability to spend time with a group of Germans and preferably those who are of Prussian stock, Time spent with a Dutch Community or a Dutch South African (Afrikaanas) should show you what I refer to. Surely you would not suggest that those populations are all suffering from either fear or insecurity? No, I didn’t think so because you don’t sound like a particularly arrogant chap to me..  My Grandmother was able to walk into a room where some piloch or another was being an ass, and on her entry mostly a room would fall silent because of the presence she carried with her which was part of who and what she was. She would stand and just look at him or her and say quietly only one word …. “Really?” raise an eyebrow and sit down. Inevitably said piloch would shut up and usually slink away. Mind you she was a Grand Duchess of Danish origin. Even without the Royal presence, my Father and his father did precisely the same thing as did my Mother. Aye I use it to at times, when I deem it necessary. This is NATURAL arrogance stemming from people knowing who they are and being comfortable with that as well as some measure of racial arrogance. Even closer to home, have you ever sat down and watched a group of Americans, aye people from the USA, when they visit another country? I have often her in Australia. Mostly I just double up and roar with laughter (for I know that all US citizens are like that) but if you listen to some of them, everything from flight, cars, trains (locomotion in general) wireless, TV radar and God knows what else are the US’s gift to the world as they invented them and of course Texas is bigger than what every state or country they are in… That my friend is Arrogance I imagine born of being brain washed that the US is Gods gift to man kind  and a feeling of both fear and insecurity.., before anyone starts I am not turning this into an anti US thread. I have both admiration and a love of the USA. Why otherwise would I have maneuvered so I could serve as a combat officer in the US Spec Forces wearing a green beanie. I do stand and even sing the Star Spangled banner when it is played

No! No! No! No! … If you really believe that then please do ,me the honour of showing me the case studies and other documentation to prove this. You can’t break part of someone’s personality without breaking the person mentally. If, and I do say if the arrogance in individual cases is indeed caused by fear or insecurity, why “BREAK” it? Do you want to possibly be the cause of long lasting psychosis or would you agree that it is better to help the person overcome fear and insecurity probably by helping him or her to build on their confidence?

Well I'm disappointed, if anyone's going to start a thread about being arrogant and superior, you think they'd know to get my permission first.

I think arrogance when it’s fitting, is so hot. Few manage to carry it off very well though, imho, as a second time poster.
Thank you for the welcome, Padriag and IrishMist. The Irishness of both welcoming nicks is an interesting coincidence. Or not. ;-)

If you really are good in what you do..then there is no need for arrogance, not? Just be yourself and people will notice you are in your trade..

Which part of, "Why yes, I am arrogant... deal with it," wasn't clear?

As to your second question, what does need have to do with it.  For some of us, arrogance is us being ourselves.  Or at least one aspect of who we are.

Arrogance (not massive arrogance but a kind of self confident arrogance) can be a very very sexy thing

OK..let me try to refrase the question. What use has arrogance. What does it bring? Is it because it gives you attention of people?
People can be some arrogant..no problem with it. But weird how they advertise it. I understand it is part of once personality. But do they like it?

Personally I see self confidence as the opposite of arrogance. But I don't mind both in peopel I know. There is more to them.

Mmmm yes...that is a good point.
My coworker..acted very arrogant. People ignored him for it. But when I talked about it with him, he looked supprised.
Now people know him..and all is ok.

I would prefer people to tell me. I 'don't want it as part of my personality.

True.... and the one having her is lucky. But we can't have her all :(
And she did gladly add "not massive"

I just ask my questions because it is interesting. Some people find it damn attractive..and some want to kill arrogant people. Makes me curious why.
As with many things..people have differant tastes....gladly.
