Fat clothes are out there...and yes, there is more than just Lane Bryant/Avenue/Torrid to choose from. I like funky clothes...baggy harem pants and a tight t-shirt, hand-painted Blue Fish stuff...things that aren't what people expect fat chicks to wear. I've learned the hard way that it's better for me to spend more for quality things that will last instead of buying something because its cheap and comes in packs of twenty.

http://www.casagordita.com/fatacc.htm a FANTASTIC website full of ooddles of fat-loving goodies!

http://www.sunheartclothing.com/index.html Ethnic, flowing and sexy "goddess" clothing

Being fat doesn't have to mean dowdy!

btw...The women that work at my local Lane Bryant joke that it has to be a sad little man that hates fat chicks who designs most of their clothes. Not sure if its a man or a woman but I do believe they don't understand the female form and the variety of shapes and sizes they come in.

I'm really sorry to hear you feel this way. Every woman should be allowed to feel beautiful and deserving of beauty. If I may, I would suggest you pick up a copy of "Succulent Wild Woman" by SARK and "Fat! So?" by Marilyn Wann. Just because!

besides Lane Bryant and Avenue, i've found other shops like Torrid (www.torrid.com) are great places to shop if you want that fashionable diva look for less.

I adore this website. It is one of my "wish" webs! http://www.sydneyscloset.com/index.html

I didn't mean to offend anyone with my statements..it is one of those.."I'm fat so I can joke" kind of things. You think I am bad about this..you should hear me tell my blind jokes! <s> I used to be so careful not to offend the hearing impaired or blind..now I tell jokes..and at first at my school they were not laughing..and then they realized I was joking..they love me now lol To give an example..When Geoff and I went to the movies, he wanted me to tell the guy in front of us "Scuse me Sir? I can't see" just to see how low the man would try to duck lmao! Another time, I bumped into a guy in front of me and tossed my cane to Doll and told the man, "I'm sorry..she is blind" lol Maybe not funny to all people, but it is how I deal with many things that I am not sure how to deal with.

So should I start telling death jokes now?

OMG, Mo!  I soooo get your humor......my mother hates mine because she says it is cruel, or gross, or just plain wrong.....comes from working with cops and military folks for over 20 years!  My sis is a nurse, so her humor can be pretty dark too!

I love it!

I wasn't offended, and it was in fun when I pointed out you were the one who asked why fashion designers thought large women would want polka dots and stripes.:)

I told a friend once shut up or I'll sit on you as  a joke because, I do feel it's ok for me to make fun of me being fat. Any one else try it and we'd likely be offended, but us making jokes about it is, usualy just fine.,

I had a year to know my dog was aging and his body was shutting down , because about a year before the  actual disease that made us have no choice but to have him put to sleep, I found out he had a heart murmur, his heart wasn't beating properly it was to slow, and skipping beats, and his kidneys were not working properly.  So it was no surprise a year later after the first diagnosis of aproblem, when he stopped being so perky and acted like "death warmed over" When I  found out that my dogs body was shutting down and we'd maybe have to face having him put to sleep the first time, I told my dad, well at least now soon we'll qualify for those apartments James and I come across   that says one dog only and it'll only be 500 instead of 1k since apartments we came across charged 500 a piece for each dog. We were looking to move into our own  place back then, before qw discovered nothing was doable w/ith two dogs and the apartment prices being what they were.

It was tacky and not funny at all but I had to find something light  hearted about the situation.

i think the designers all get together and draw straws on how to mess with everyones heads. i remember back when i was a size 8 i ran into a store and had to grab and buy some jeans before running off on a trip...*snort* that taught me not to rush. they were all to small..so i got to take them all back after trying on different sizes i walked out stunned...at that store i was a 14.
kinda blew me away really. or i like it when i can find something that fits just right and looks cute...till i look down and see my ankles. loverly. so if it fits its to short ..ooh and then again ive found the right length..but they were to small...but it says its my size...i really hate shopping....please dont get me started on the bras lol
and i hate trying to shop for my teenage son whose tall and lanky.
so all in all i think all sizes have  problems and it all sucks and it all hurts feelings.  so i htink to end all of our shopping nightmares ...we should ban clothes. period. after all ..we werent born with them ..  : )

ohhh and i now have a new favorite saying....i dont care what size you are its the best and if you dont mind i think i'll make it my tag line.......

"shut up or i'll sit on you."
i'm sorry but i'm dying here that was the best thing i've heard today. and i'm sorry but i keep picturing a lil' granny type saying it ..omg!!
uhem and now i'll stop with the random rambling.

yeah, been there, done that with the different sizes....I bought two pairs of pants, identically cut, different fabric, same maker, and one size was bigger than the other!!!!  Depending on the cut, I can be anywhere from an 18 to a 24!  This is why I don't shop for clothes......I hate the way things fit me, as my body is sized differently at the measurement parts.....if I get the pants to fit my waist, there's an extra yard or two in the thighs......getting it to fit my thighs means there's no way I can breathe.....getting shirts to fit my bust means they are tight in the stomach area, fitting to the stomach area means the bust is HUGE!  I don't look good in anything.....

Thats what tailoring is for. Buy things bigger and have them taken in. One size never fits all.

Before I lost weight I got a lot of my clothes at Avenue and Fashion Bug Plus. Avenue sells online which I liked. The best place however was ebay - there is a wealth of stuff on ebay in whatever size you need that you'll never find anywhere else and the prices are reasonable. Just watch that you don't get stuck with inflated shipping - each vendor sets their own shipping prices. You can get some seriously nice things for great prices on ebay.

There is one ebay store in particular...HolyClothing...that has AWESOME stuff and it looks good. Their sizes go up to a 5X. I have purchased from them several times in the past and loved everything.

subharlequin, I have the hardest time convincing my mom sizes differ based on designer cut quality of the fabric and stuff. She says well I never have that problem, and I am glad she doesn't. There was this really cute dress on sale for 12 dollars at Catherines, and the size tag said it was a 30 but it was REALLY REALLY small I couldn't even get it on. It was a bummer cause it was really cute and a 50 or more dollar dress being 12 bucks on clearance rack was a good steal.

I wouldn't want to go naked all the time as a rule, I do enjoy clothing when I find something cute and special, but  I am always naked at home well ok 99.9 percent of the time.

And yeah if you want you can put shut up or I'll sit on you, as a signature line:)

See? I knew we were sisters separated at birth, we even wear the same size clothing! This is why I hate it when people ask what size I wear because quite frankly, I can range from 16-18 up to a 26. I did the same thing once where I bought 2 pairs of pants, same manufacturer, same style, same size, same material, just different colours. One pair is almost too short, the other pair too long. If they weren't so darn comfortable otherwise, I'd chuck them!

I like ZAFTIQUE...on line...SHAKE YOUR PEACHS..
and HOLY CLOTHING has beautiful fabiric and larger sizes with fringes
etc.

WHEN I was 310 I made a lot my own cool stuff from squares yep,,

I took about 6 m of cloth flipped it over..sewed up the side..left arm holes and made a head hole...and I can't sew..
I got lots of comments..becuz I picked nice fabric..sometimes I cut the bottom on a slant or made the square with a and then attacehd 2 straps that were palain or tied...this thne dopped over the shoulders;;for summer
I also took fleece blanket throws & interesting throws with ethnic patterns and did the same but an open front so it was a jacket then went
to a thrift shop mens for xxxxl t-shirts which I added a strip of sequins to or lace..
total for jacket and t...about $26..
I ended up selling the fleece things at $60 a piece to others and  had purchased throws for $12

If I saw soemthing I liked at a discount place...
I have often bought 2..
like a skirt and made ONE out of it

I also invented what I called my GUNT hider..( that is the hanging flesh apron thing I have still @ 100lb weight loss))

If I liked a skirt...and it did not fit I would and cut it up the side...then attach apron ties on each side and so it was open like a back and front apron..
and also I have taken  ..again...some fabric..maybe 2+ m...and made a back  front apron like skirt...the thing with that is with sides open
you don't become totally round..
I wore these with cheap leggings
SOME OF THE BEST BIG tops I got was looking in pjs..( got a leopard top and pants)
adn bathing suit covers...roomy and flowing

WRITE to ME
I have TONS  OF ideas..for BBW and SSBBW

Yeah...I'd like to know that too. Would you have said something similar if the OP had questioned something about kink instead of where to find clothing for big women?
