I'm a huge fan of the Pill myself.  I used to have problems with ovarian cysts and an irregular cycle, so I was prescribed Kariva (ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel) - been on it for more than a year now.  I've had some slight weight gain, maybe five pounds in the first few months, and my breasts are a little tender, but aside from that it's been fine.  No blood pressure issues, my periods are shorter and ligher, my skin's clearer.  None of the scary stuff my Gyno warned me about.  And as a special side bonus, not having cysts anymore means I'm actually functional the week before my period and have less risk of ovarian cancer.

Novel,

Thanks for your post!  I have a cyst as well, so we'll see what the NR does for it.  I don't think I'm on top of things enough to remember to take a pill...

The nurse did tell me that if I went on the pill my breasts may grow.  I was all for it, until I rememberd WHY they would grow... LOL

Thanks again for the information!

The bc pills worked well for me, and after I had my brood, had my tubes tied. Hates surprises. Now that I am "aged" I no longer have that problem either way. LOL...finally outgrew that stuff.

I didn't think I'd be able to handle the schedule either, but I just keep the pill packet in my purse and have a permanent daily alarm set on my phone.  Missing a day every now and then won't kill you or render the pill useless as long as you remember to make it up the next day.  Not sure what your Doc'll do for the cyst - the only way I know of to manage it is to prevent ovulation, remove the ovary, or put up with it.  Then again, you may have a diffierent type of cyst than I do.  I wish you luck with finding a solution - I know how bad it sucks.

Has anyone had any experience with Yaz? I have a friend who says that she has had a good experience with it, but I've heard some concerns with respect to it. I would appreciate if anyone could share their experience with it as I am considering it for a b/c option.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I had a friend that was on it, and liked it.  Other than that, nope.

Not that I know of.  There is a shot you can get once a month, though.  I'm not sure what it's called though.

There is a lot of information in this thread, and I also recommend the Planned Parenthood website.

Good luck!

DepoProvera is the shot and it is once every 3 months.

I always thought the CB 6000/3000 was the Domme's choice for birth control .

But on a serious note, why can't you just become sexually active in accordance to your period? From what I have learned, you can decrease the chance of getting pregnant significantly if you have sex during specific periods of your sexual reproductive cycle.
