Greedy,

i have to agree with the last thing you said because i would always do what is best for the furbaby and not be selfish and hang on to the furbaby and make them live a miserable life because it would make me miserable watching them try.

I guess it was inevitable,Midnight has discovered Snuggles favorite bed. There is a guest room where Snuggles took her naps every day...I just walked past there and there was Midnight stretched out as contently as all get out....all I cold do was smile, pet her and assure her that we do not stand on ceremony in this house.Comforters go thru the washing machine,I have absolutely no issue with the dog on the bed

Just saw that last post Greedy....I guess,in the final analysis I answered that the other night....and this isn't the first time. The first time was when I was a child...a beloved German Shepard had(though I didn't know this at the time) an epileptic fit while on a walk with me... It was scary as all get out,I was about 12 when this beautiful Shepard started flipping out and snapping at the rain .We took him to the vet, after an examination the vet let us know that the dog had epiiesy...the choices were stark...put Satan down or keep her drugged up for the rest of her life,at an exorbitant cost. For my family ,at that time, there was no choice. So that led to my first mixed breed dog...a fat roly poly bundle of love we named Saties....she was the smartest dog I ever knew, with the sweetest disposition this side of snuggles.Half cocker spaniel and half Shepard...she tended to have a weight problem....completely independent she would take walks around the neighborhood.Saties had the garbage men's schedule down pat, these big tough men would go thru the garbage as they collected it and feed her the scraps.A number of our neighbors thinking she was just a friendly stray took to feeding her,the older man behind us started putting dog treats on his shopping list though he had no dog of his own.It finally got to the point where I had to go around the neighborhood and advise the neighbors that she was our dog and that she was well fed at home, the garbage men took it a little hard,lol...the neighbor behind us was allowed to keep buying treats....though we asked him to limit them to one a day.
What a girl she was

Angel was so funny. She was begging to go out. I opened the door and immediately saw her bothersome boyfriend, Dusty, sleeping up on the ledge. She apparently didn't see him at first and eagerly ran outside. Just out of curiousity, I opened the door two minutes later to see what might be going on. She ran back inside so fast she almost knocked me over. Guess she got a glimpse of her unwanted suitor and wanted to be out of the area before he woke up and came down off the ledge to keep her company.

Hopefully Angel will keep me company when I study tonight. The test is Wednesday morning.

Well, I finally got the (powdered) boric acid for Little Bit's pinkeye.  He's pouting because I had the first go-round cleaning his eye.  I found several places that gave me the increments of water to powder, so I picked the weakest "recipe" to start with.  All the sites said it should clear up in 4-7 days.  I got a 6oz bottle, just in case he passed it to the others before I realized what it was.  No one else is showing any signs, so cross your fingers for us.

KB has started being "mama" to Little Bit....he grooms him, and will actually sleep WITH him, not just by him.  KB's always played mama to the other 2 boys when they were kittens, and as they grew up, it didn't matter.  What's amusing is that LB won't actually sit still to get groomed, he's all over the place, so when KB has reached the "Hold still, dammit!" point, he just plants a paw on LB and holds him down.  Then he finishes it up.  Right now, KB is on the loveseat fixin' to nod off, and Little Bit is next to him, hopefully getting ready to do the same.  He has this little quirk of banzai-ing anyone he can when he's feeling fiesty.  Last night, KB was on the other chair next to me, and Little Bit luanched himself off the table right on KB's head.  TO KB's credit, he just cracked an eye opened at me as if to say "DO something with the little bugger!"...he's pretty mellow.  And it's pretty funny to watch Little Bit jump down...he doesn't have the grace yet, so it's all one movement...."sproing" into the air, land on all fours and zoom off.  He's so cyooooooooot!  And my neighbor has decided that she's got too much on her plate (?), so it's official...Little Bit is mine, and I"m halfway to Crazy Cat Lady status.  {sigh}  I'm such a sucker!!!!!!

s2s I do have to say that LB sounds a lot like what Midnight does here LOL. midnight and mystic have gotten so that they will lay on the bed together but they each claim a specific side of the bed and wont sleep near each other. they also chase and play with each other now and i can also leave them both in the same room with only one litter box and they will take turns with it and share it WOOT no Mystic being a prissy ass over him using her litter box. that makes me very happy.

they both have agreed that blondie is the #1 enemy in the house. they will attack her when she plays with them or will wait till she is sleeping and similtanuosly attack LOL.

yea my house is officially cat crazy handful but its oh so nice now that its quiet and just me, my husband and our pets again especially after last nights mad house.

s2s.. love ya.. BUT: unless a vet has determined that it is pinkeye, and that the boric stuff is gonna be effective, you REALLY SHOULD NOT be allowing LB to hang with the others..

I wasn't going to say anything (mainly 'cause I already did) but this is very true.

Thank you!

Both my cats are rather quirky. But then--they're cats and will be anything they want to be, LOL.

I made the mistake of leaving my accessories drawer open just a few inches and one of them managed to pull my new red feather fascinator out of the drawer! I found it on the floor. I was very fortunate that they did not shred it (yet). If there is one drawer in the house that I need to keep completely closed, that's it. Feather accessories and cats are not a good combination.

I know guys...I've been keeping him in my bedroom, but he gets out on me too.  And he hasn't had much contact with the big 'uns, last night was a rarity.  They've been steering clear of him.  But I took him down to the kitty clinic, and have some antibiotic drops now.  It's looking better, even just using the boric acid, but now everytime I pick him up, he thinks I'm going to mess with his eye, so he won't just lay in my hands.  I pick him up and just let him sit with me, so he won't associate it with bad stuff, so hopefully, once this is all done, he'll still be the little hugbug he was!  I just feel so bad for him because his eye is swollen, but he doesn't appear to be in any pain.  The vet said that most of the time, the eye itches, but he's not scratching at it either.  He still plays, and Lordy...there's NOTHING wrong with his appetite!  And even tho he's giong thru this, I'm still his favorite chew toy!  He clamps onto my hand and just chomps away!  A week ago, it didn't hurt, but now that he's getting bigger, and his claws are longer, he's poking little holes in me!  I love to flip him over and tickle his lettle belly.....

Yeah, yeah.....I'm a sucker for beebee kittens!  I'd like to see anyone who sees him not be!

Won't be able to take the new puppy to the vet till next week(like everyone else money is a little tight),the shelter assured us she has had all of her shots and was checked out thougherly by a vet student( the shelter makes use of a local vet college). Anyway I have come to the conclusion that this lovely dog,who is for the most part house trained(8 months old) was brought to the pound by a family that couldn't deal with what appears to be allergies.
Yup,seems this dog is allergic to grass, which makes the walks a real sneezefest.I ,myself have never heard of such a thing, but what we were told was shelter cough...a condition similar to kindergarten children passing a cold around is ,in actuality,an allergy.Has anyone ever heard of this ?Is it possible a simple shot administered by our local vet can deal with it ..sort of on a yearly basis?
Must suck to be a dog and be allergic to grass

mike,

our dog sasha has allergy reactions of chewing herself once a year and it is usually when the grass and such is dying and she naws on her self. all we do is pour proxide on the spots that she has chewed and voila she stops. now if you notice this all year i would say its something that would have to have meds for to treat.

midnight just snuck in here and is now doing who knows what.

Other than two areas, which seem devoid of hair,I have noticed o other skin type manifestations of an allergy....just the sneezing, she literally sneezes herself thru the walks....no scratching no nothing .Now the areas with hair loss could be due to prior mistreatment(she does seem a little jumpy, but I am hoping that will pass, surely she will come to learn that no one in this house thinks whacking a dog is the way to train a dog....are they will deal with me...lol) or some sort of birth mark thingamajig ...who knows...but o skin rashes.

We give our little dogs a children's benadryl every day. They are 25 lbs and under. It helps with allergies.
Kennel cough is something else. Is that what they told you it was? If so, it's a very distinctive sound, kind of a cross between a wheeze and a cough, and then they start "hacking".
I wouldn't think a shelter would have any dogs that didn't have their bordatella shots as it's so easy to get and to pass around. Of course it is possible to pick it up even if your dog has had thier bordatella shot. (just not as common)
Kennel cough will go away on it's own, but your vet can prescribe a cough medicine for him to ease his throat (and your nerves)
