Em, calico is a color pattern, not a breed. Have you a clue what breed? Calico's are usually female, but the occasional male is seen. They will have two X chromsomes and one Y chromosome (XXY), and as a result, are likely to be sterile, and unable to breed. Coat color is also determined by the different number of chromsomes. What are Mystic's colors?

Weight gain is a common (and frustrating) occurence after neutering/spaying, as major hormone producing organs are surgically removed, causing a sudden reduction in the hormones that play a part in how the body stores fat mass.

Some animals also become more docile, or stray less, so less fat is burned, ergo weight gain. The best way to counter this is to increase stimulation, play and exersize, combined with reducing the overall amount the animal is fed by as much as 1/3. Also, limit the amount of treats given, as these tend to be full of calories.

Cats only have a few taste receptors for sweet on the back of their tongue, so do not experience sweetness as we do. They will, however, often happily eat that which their loved one (YOU!) is eating. I kind of look at is as them taking an opportunity to bond with you.

Wow, never had one that liked peaches. One of my past cats liked green beans, asparagus, and tidbits of my Nutrigrain bar.

As a kid, my family had a cat that loved that super-sweet, teeth-hurting, crystalline icing that store bought birthday cakes had. And, he was NUTS about green olives. He'd sit next to a jar, stick his paw in it, and one by one, with 1 sharp claw, hook and lift them out, and eat them like he was a human holding an apple.

My present cats, Pearl & Weenie, LOVE cooked asparagus so much, if placed besides any other of their favorites, will ravenously gobble down the asparagus first. Funny cats.

ok dusky you are definitly right i dont know anything about breeds of cat i just know coloration patterns LOL.

Mystic is a light grey with faint darker gray stripes on her tail this is why i thought she was a tabby.

Midnight is solid black other than a few white whisps of hair on his throat and a white patch on his belly and this is why i thought him to be more of a calico.

the good thing is i dont treat them very often so thats a plus and well i make a main food bowl for all 3 of our pets and they eat as they want it so hopefully no major weight gain due to this.

Cats after my own heart! Asparagus is my favorite vegetable. My current cats want nothing to do with it. My former cat Amanda loved it just as much as I do.

Today is Misty's 16th birthday! Both cats will be getting a tuna feast to celebrate later today.

Just what you need, a backseat COOK!

Bit is hiding under the keyboard tray grabbing at Smooch's feet. He's just full of piss and vinegar tonight...well, EVERY night. I need to get a day to gt him to the vet to get him neutered......but it's hard when all you do is work!

He chased Mooch off, and now he's snoozing on my shoulder......already snoring! I hate him for that!!!!

Oh, she's hilarious! She'll sit there and meow at whatever's cooking, even when I'm not in the kitchen attending to it. If something's in the oven, she's been known to sit there and meow at the oven during the whole baking time, even if it's a half hour or an hour.

Angel seems to grasp the concept that if she waits patiently and quietly, she'll get her tidbits in due time, but Misty isn't that patient and wants to "help" things along, though she really doesn't, LOL. And on top of that, it's not unusual for her to turn her nose up at whatever she was meowing at!

Dr Joe fixed both of them yesterday so thats done.

Mystic is still sluggish and such. i made her a box with towels in it for her to sleep and not have to worry about potty accdents last night. she was falling everytime she tried to walk but she is doing better now.

Midnight recovered back to old self with in a few hrs of his getting done. he just isnt to full blown kitteh go vroom mode again YET.

all that i have to do is get Dr joe the certificate for midnight and then make plans to get both of them their shots.

32.50 a piece for shots but its midnights first set and Mystics boosters.

give it a few months and ill have that done then no more dr for them for a few years.

Mystic and midnight are healing up nicely. they both ran when the Dr Joe came to get midnights critter care certificate. they didnt want anything to do with him after their ordeals on monday. I had to laugh because it was cute. first they were curious then they wanted away from him as fast as possible.

other than that all is well in the household.

Angel is busy sniffing my coat. I was over at the home of a friend who has a cat this afternoon, and some of the cat's scent must have rubbed off on my my coat. Angel suspects I cheated on her with another cat, LOL.

Mine are asking to go out in the snow, then coming back in one minute later, then asking to go back out the next minute. Does anyone want to adopt a cat?
