Binx is ignoring me as usual.

Phoenixpower -> RE: What is your cat doing? (4/15/2010 1:17:55 PM)

summer loved her food which i got from the vet for her for 4 days (2 portions a day) but was pissed off in the evening when i gave her her first antibiotics tablet...thankfully i can handle her that she hasnt a chance to spit it out...7 more to go in next days *chuckle* But her treatment seems to be working already as now she is carrying her food belly around with her again...so she doesnt look as awful slim anymore as she did when she threw up daily (even the vet had realised that she had lost weight since the last visit)

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: What is your cat doing? (4/17/2010 3:21:38 PM)

Both Misty and Lily are enjoying an afternoon snooze on this rainy day.

ShaharThorne -> RE: What is your cat doing? (4/17/2010 3:29:49 PM)

Binx is missing!!!  I don't know where she went!

I hope the maintenance crew did not scare her off.  She is a pretty good ratter!

ShaharThorne -> RE: What is your cat doing? (4/17/2010 4:43:26 PM)

Binx was hiding under the futon.  bad kitty bad!

ShaharThorne -> RE: What is your cat doing? (4/18/2010 9:29:37 AM)

Some help here...I am trying to train (HAH!) Binx not to scratch up the sofa and futon.  She has 2 scratching posts.  How can I get her interested in the posts and not the sofa and futon?

I already threaten her with the spray bottle...

pahunkboy -> RE: What is your cat doing? (4/18/2010 11:13:01 AM)

my cat is very tired today.   from what I do not know.

petmonkey -> RE: What is your cat doing? (4/18/2010 11:37:26 AM)

Are the posts covered in similar fabric?  Your cat seems to have a preference for a particular feel.
Ever tried any of those "no-scratch" sprays on your furniture?  i haven't but maybe they're worth a try.
Does your cat fully understand that those posts are hir's? Have the posts been rubbed with catnip? Have favorite toys been placed near them for hir to find? Moved hir food bowl next to them? Have you held the cat to the posts and made the 'here scratch this instead" gesture with hir paws? Placed hir favorite bed next to them?

(sorry if the gender-neutral pronoun is confusing, running out of "awake" and can't remember your fuzzy one's gender).

Way back when my sofa was new, I trained the cat I owned at the time by giving her a treat and talking to her lovingly when she used the scratch post.  Also, rubbing the suface of the scratching post with catnips helps, too.  When Amanda scratched the sofa, I would yell at her and either squirt her with the spray bottle or throw the device my vet recommended (an empty soda can filled with some coins and then taped shut) in her direction to startle her.  That worked great with that cat, though it required a lot of vigilance.

That cat went to kitty heaven several years ago.  I must admit I have been lax with the two I have now, as it was a lot of effort to train Amanda.  One thing I have found that works is covering the sofa with a slipcover that has a smooth texture.   They don't seem to get any gratification out of scratching that and pretty much leave it alone.

I am, however, planning to get a new sofa and chair for the living room soon, and will go back to the training methods I used with Amanda.  Not looking forward to it, though, as it requires a lot of effort and vigilance.  I suppose I could get smooth-textured slipcovers for the new sofa and chair similar to the ones I have for the old ones, but I'd really prefer not to.

I want a camera for this scene...

Bo is on the futon, laying on his back.

Binx went over and climb up to his crotch, where she lays down on him.

SHE IS SLEEPING ON HIS CROTCH!

I am so tempted to wake him up so he can have a heart attack...

He usually refers to having some pussy on hand, now he has one where it counts the most...

texaspunkin -> RE: What is your cat doing? (4/18/2010 1:39:01 PM)

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: What is your cat doing? (4/20/2010 4:54:28 PM)

FelineFae -> RE: What is your cat doing? (4/21/2010 7:26:13 PM)

i think kitty is having an identidy crisis. She's laying on her back, looking very much like an otter, and saying "moo".

soul2share -> RE: What is your cat doing? (4/21/2010 7:49:22 PM)

KB just woke me out of a very sound sleep because he wanted FOOOOOOD, MOM!!!!!  Boo is back in the window, looking for the kitty that climbed the tree to peek into said window...we're on the second floor.....Squeaks is under the bed where Smooch just chased her.  {sigh}, she's been with me for over a year, you'd think that the two boys would finally quit messing with her.

Greedy, you said baby......details!

Squeaks has now decided to join me at the computer.....which means I have a 12lb cat in my lap, all while trying to type.......she just refuses to accept the fact that she makes a beeter door than a window!
