Wow so this isn't even firsthand information for YOU? How do you know he planned to steal from the escort? Did he actually steal or not? This whole story sounds quite convoluted.

That is why there are safecalls and safety networks, meeting in public does not insure that someone won't have a gun under the table. but safe calls and safety networks help and IMHEO a sub or Dom/me who does not meet a prospect in public the first time or two should be horsewhipped, that is asking for trouble. I had been talking to My boy for 4 months and the weekend we were together, candystripper and fastlane safe called all weekend AND I made him have safe calls and he is 6'4 and 200+ lbs, like I could have hurt him? Hell ya when he is chained 7 ways to sunday---I cannot preach it enough--safety safety safety.

This thread got me to thinking...

I'd never thought of asking a potential partner if they carry a weapon. Maybe it's just a matter of my location/social circle, but it just never crossed my mind. Perhaps it should have been, perhaps that was neglect on my part. Maybe I got lucky, who knows.

Is this a question that is...

A) ...commonly asked when meeting with a potential partner...be they Dom or sub or new friend?

B) ...on your list of 'need to know' questions? Should it be?

Will it be added now?

I can put him or her in direct contact with the girl so he can hear the story first hand. I only do not say who she is to protect her annonimity. BTW this girl does use safe calls.

No I never ask before and I'd only bring it up when I saw they had weapons or if they talked about them. I'm more than comfortable around people with weapons as long as they know how to use them right.

Interesting this is one of the things that the boy offered to Me in our early conversations---along with the flares in his car! smiles.

What I don't understand here is...you said
quote:

he hired an escort

This is not the same thing, not at all the same thing as meeting a potential sub/Dom or what ever.

Now, no disrespect to escorts. I fully support your right to do as you please with your body. Do not read anything into what I'm going to say.

There are many escorts that have more on their agenda than what it is they are hired and paid for. I would fully expect someone having a carry permit to do just that especially when they are putting themselves in a position where it may be necessary.

All of that being said...exactly WHAT does this man carrying a gun to visit an escort have to do with him meeting prospective dates?

Understand that I have a huge problem with this kind of "pot stirring". In wiitwd we are villified enough by the vanilla public at large. We don't need to do it amongst ourselves.

In a lot of instances the gun people bought for protection is used against them in a crime.

I know alot of people who carry concealed weapons, particulary females. In this day and age its almost a have too. I think all women should learn to safely use a firearm for protection because you just never know when you might need it.

"Alot" ? I know WAY TOO MANY gun statistics compleltey twisted and perverted for propaganda means. The benefits of carrying a gun and using it when needed far outweight the risks and dangers. Part of that "alot" is simply guns stolen from a burglarized house and used somewhere else to hold up a store or just paine ole getting caught with them. I dont know a single person who had their gun used against them, but then again I dont know that many stupid people.

FYI to the OP (sounds like a rap song, doesn't it?)

Emailing me on the other side and starting off your 11 paragraph hate mail with "I do not like drama" is not at all conducive to a drama free situation.

This thread, as I mentioned in my post is nothing more than an attempt on your part to create drama.

You stated in your email that you will never know what the rules are to posting until you break them. That is a ridiculous excuse for not caring what the rules are. All you have to do is read the TOS, that's where they are.

Welcome to the boards. I hope your next thread reflects what you've learned so far.

That's beyond easy:

>A gun in the home is 4 times more likely to be involved in an unintentional shooting, 7 times more likely to be used to commit a criminal assault or homicide, and 11 times more likely to be used to attempt or commit suicide than to be used in self-defense.<

>A gun in the home increases the risk of homicide of a household member by 3 times and the risk of suicide by 5 times compared to homes where no gun is present.<

Show your data, because I have never seen that claim verified. In fact, I've seen the counter verified. There is a great deal of misinformation out there on firearms (and weapons in general), much of it deliberate.

You can quote all the statistics that you want.
All I know is that the guns in my house (all safely secured in vaults with child locks on them and ammo locked seperately)
will protect me from an intruder far better than the state police.
I live in a rural area, have no police force and must rely on the state police which take an average of ten to fifteen minutes to respond to a call.
That's a lot of time for someone to hurt me and my family.

*was in statistics not long ago*

First, a GOOD cross refrenece of the US is 2000 people.....

Second, what are the numbers involved (how many reports read/people talked to).

Third, what is the margin of error.

With that post, your doing the "talking head".

There is NOTHING to verify the data in the post (besides, of course, the link. But then you get lazy bastards like me who are about to pass out and don't want to click on another link).

Getting facts and statistics form that organization is like asking KKK how they feel about black people.
That statistic is wrong, its blatant abuse of numbers.

And the devil's advocate here says: ok we've done the messageboard decorum/prospective drama/consequences of misinformation angle to death. How about some kudos for the OP's actual concern for the wellbeing of others? Given that we have all met plenty of people round here with no clue...

I am not a gun person, but can respect others who practice SAFE gun practices... it is their right. I do however think I have a right to My safety as well... I find it ridiculous to say that guns, are not involved in accidental shootings, or that guns are not involved in emotional killings when a gun (obtained legally or not) just happens to be handy.

The courts are full of these cases everyday.... even the Vice-President of the US shot someone accidentally... no gun = no accidental shooting. It's a fact. Some are necessary, some aren't. Just because you can have a gun, doesn't mean you need one. If someone is so in fear of meeting someone new that he must carry a concealed weapon, he should probably not be meeting the person, or should do so in a public place. I know many will see it differently (especially those with NRA cards), but that's My opinion and I don't forsee it changing.
