Over the past several years, since my sub died, I have been trying to find someone new. We were together for about 10 years. During that 10 years, I happened to pass my 50th birthday, and am now 54.

If I see a profile with a specific age range desired for a Dom, and I don't fit, I generally don't contact her. I also tend to search for submissive women over the age of 40, which admittedly narrows the field. However, I am getting more and more responses from subs from age 45 to 60 that, at age 54, I am "too old" for them.

To be told by a sub whose profile says she is the same age as you or older that "I don't want to have anything to do with a Dom over 50" is, to say the least, hard on the ego, especially when it seems that is the sole reason for rejection.

Is this just something limited to the submissive women of eastern New England? Or should all Doms who are over 50 just stop looking?

Well i have a wonderful Master who is over 50 i am 36 but he is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Now i admit i love older men but to me age is just a number. I would have to draw the line at somone over 65 but don't give up. I am sure there are some subs out there like me who like older men maybe you should broden you age requirments a bit.

Just a few suggestions. i wish you much luck.

Why do you take it personally? Yeah it's annoying, but the good news is that you get to choose whatever preferences you want as well. Would you prefer people who didn't know what they wanted or who told you that you were bad for wanting what you want?

The oldest person I've been involved with is 56. Currently probably the oldest I'd become involved with is about 70.

Just be yourself, and find people who are compatible with you.

And for me, I find "poor me" attitudes a far bigger issue than actual age.

I'm 47 and Master is 53. He was 51 when we began our relationship. I'd have no problem being with someone up to the age of about 60, however it depends on the person and the upper age group of a potential partner isn't written in stone

I have more of a problem myself being with people a lot younger than I am rather than older. I have a profile up on a personals site looking for female play partners, ages ranging from 30 to 55. I get winks etc from women in their late teens/early 20s - I have kids that age, it just feels "wrong" to me.

I was well over 50 when I was in The Boston Dungeon Society and I've have and had plenty of play partners. One even moved from Boston to Boca Raton so she could keep playing with Libby and me. I'm old enough to collect social security and I met a new play partner last night at a dinner party.

Of course, women are sensitive. A "poor me" attitude can turn them off faster than stained t-shirts.

Now I tend to meet play partners at munches, classes and places like the Fetish Fleamarket and not online. Since these abound in eastern New England, am I correct in assuming you are getting turned down in those places too?

You will find many narrow their "acceptable" list before ever talking to someone. Can't stop that, it's just the way it is. i was drawn to my Master from our first conversation. In our 2nd conversation he told me he was 55, wanting to tell me up front in case i had issue with it. At the same time, he was concerned about my age - i was 38 at the time. Two years later i must say he is the best thing that has happened to me, and he is rather happy with me also.

Numbers are numbers. Seems to me you would do well to find someone who didn't care so much about that. On the other side of this frustration you are experiencing could very well be a treasure worth the wait.

I'm 57 and My sub is 41
The older I get, the better I get.
I think it's all in the mind and you are as young as you think.

I wish you luck in your search.

I'm guilty, I'm contacting by lot's of older men and I will in a nice way say no thank you. This isn't because im mean but I have more in common with guys my age, plus I act even younger than my ripe age of 24.

You're a very good age for me. In fact I like older men. I would date a man up to 60 years of age, maybe older, and I'm 47 going on 48

Everyone has ideas of what they seek..and yes sometimes it is difficult to be rejected for something you have no control over...however, such is the way of human nature..What you can do is either shrug it off and feel lucky you did not waste your time..or take the bull by the horns and and convince someone that they may need to rethink their flawed opinion...but what ever you do, i wish you well..and BTW i have found men in their fifties to be quite intriguing..but that could be because i am close to that range..*grin*..Tempting

It's not the numbers on the drivers license that is the deterrent.
I think it's the assumption, usually taken from experience, that
has shown others that there is some magic age where we loose
the attributes of youth. Of course this doesn't always apply.
My worry over a Master with a few years on him and above me is that
his activity level wont match mine. Yet I would never state an age
cap since I know not all fit a stereotype, although the concern is
right there each and every time I'm contacted by one a bit longer in
the tooth then I. Another thing could possibly be that us older
individuals no longer present that ideal visual some find a necessity.
This isnt limited to Doms or Masters and in many ways you all at
least have tradition behind you where History states its normal for
an older man to have a younger woman. Hell if you want to give up
at 50 being male, what do you suggest we females do at that Golden Age?

****NEWSFLASH*****

It doesn't matter what age you are!

Just last week I got two replies within ten minutes of each other, one saying I was too old, the other saying I was too young. Both from young ladys of about the same age as each other.

Simply suck it up, move on and keep going till you find the ones for whom your particular age isn't a problem. They ARE out there!

Once i hit 40, i came to the realization (strictly my own personal observations of course) that the way males think changes some where between the age of 39 and 42....and it's all for the better. So i will not seek anyone under the age of 40. As for the oldest Dom i would consider, in all honesty...10 years older is about as far as i go....but only because i am seeking a LTR and find there tends to be less i have in common with anyone over and above this. Exceptions to the rule...of course so i will never say never.

WOW, it just seems like nobody can win. Maybe you and this guy should get together and compare notes.

I'm curious, would you expound on this? What changes do men make in that age period? What metamorphosis do you see? Is there any sort of equivalent age / change for the better phenomenon among F's IYO?

As a 23yr old, my cut-off age is 35. BUT, I'm looking for a life partner, not a play partner. My dad (stepdad actually, but he raised me...) is 37 and I don't feel comfortable bringing home men older than he is!

believe me you'll get imune to the hurt of rejection due to age.... I'm 61 this year with a Wife/FC who has just turned 31. I've been given reasons for some not being interested as: My age, My married, We are Poly, I'm Gorean, I'm to scary, I have disabilities and a few other things. There is oly one reason I have an empty collar and that is due to a smallish, severly cliquised and fractured scene here. If I lived where the scene is large I have no doubt my collar/s would be filled.
