I don't think so. It dies and then someone gets good news and revives it...

I have not been able to lose any weight, but in fact gain quite a bit.  I have been having medical problems for a while too.

Mom just challenge me to lose 25 lbs before July.  I should be able to do it as long as people just stop pushing me!!!! (Damn, I sound like Lizard)...

POTTTTTS!!!!! What brings you back here? Did you hear my plea to have you come back & help me lose the weight I gained after losing that job last year??? I can't do it without your virtual whippings, you know.

The people I'm working for now have just the worst diet!! If it's not processed & over-salted, they're pretty much not interested in it. At least they will buy me the foods I like to eat, so I can make myself separate meals.

I'll start the ball rolling by saying that I was able to complete the Marine Corps Marathon on Halloween Took almost the full 7hrs (6:27:47) but my friends & I did it & if you're on FB w/me you've seen the pics
I've tried running since the marathon but I really don't like running unless I'm training so I entered a race in June (Run Amuk) which is 3.2 miles but full of mud pits & other obstacles to get thru before you cross the finish line.
I'm in the gym 4-5 nights a week & on the week it's only 4 nights it's a cardio only night so I might opt to go power walking for an hour.

DAYUM, Pots. That's some serious *WIN* you've already got goin' on there, honey..
Sophie darling, way to go on last year's weight loss. You are now our poster child, with or without purple hair.
Pots is rockin', she can be the drill sargent.
Shahar, medical contingencies are entirely understandable. You must always do what is right for you under your own circumstances, and not feel bad about it. Join us just the same, if you will, and be good to yourself in some good company.

My current status: I do not know how much I weigh as of this writing. The last time I weighed in was around Thanksgiving, and I was 213 then. I am probably about the same at this time, judging by how I look and how my clothes fit. Himself and I have already filed our taxes, and are both on a path of weight management and better all-around health practices - the comment about taxes was to denote, among other things, that one of our first purchases will be a good digital scale for the home, and I will give that information here when I have it. We acquired a Wii this Solstice, and are beginning to use several programs for it regarding fitness (WiiFit, Biggest Loser, MamuChan Aerobics, and a very nice Yoga program). I also have a Pilates program on my comp that I have started to use again, and will be working my way up to two different Taebo programs (Ab BootCamp and Cardio) as soon as I feel that I am ready for them, which should be soon enough.

As far as food intake in concerned, we are getting into organic eating, whole grains, fresh fruits and veggies, and fist-sized portion control. In short, nothing really radical, just general common sense.

Anyone else?

(EDITED for typos)

I bought myself a digital scale this month because I notice that when I'm not weighing myself I have a tendency to overeat. A lot!!! Because I can't afford new clothes, I'm wearing the same clothes I wore when I was 20 lbs heavier & when I was 30 lbs lighter. So that doesn't really help me to control myself. I weigh myself once a day, first thing in the morning. It seems to help me to do this. I've lost 5 lbs since I bought the scale. Before, I was just going upward.

I'm trying harder to eat normal portions, no cookies or other goodies. I'm also having some problems with retaining water. My left ankle has been grossly swollen a lot this month. I've been avoiding eating their food lately & that seems to be helping. Or I will make something for them, take my portion out & then add their ton of salt. LOL They eat so much salt that they have gone through about 1/2 a container since I've been here & that's only been 2 months. I did switch them to sea salt without their knowledge or approval & I've been putting gradually less salt in their food & more other herbs to enhance the flavor without the salt. When I am cooking for myself, I never put salt in my food & I rarely eat anything packaged or processed.

Tonight, they said they wanted spaghetti & I said that I didn't have the ingredients for it & also it was better if I could cook something like that all day. She said, "There are 2 cans of spaghetti sauce in the cupboard, that's all you need." ACCCKKKKK!!!!! Sacrilege!!!

I have noticed within the past year some interesting changes in my personal body quirks - all of which I'm sure are normal and fully attributable to age (I will be 44 on March 15), but which I thought were things that happened to Other People, until they started happening to me. Like, slight, occasional water retention, and changes in my moon cycle.

No problem. I needed to start watching my salt, anyway..

I just made their dinner & looked on the packages for sodium content & had I had just 1/2 cup of the sauce over the spaghetti noodles & 1 piece of garlic bread, that would have been fully half of my sodium allotment for the day. And because I eat yogurt every day with cereal, I know that would have put me over the top. So I made myself a lovely salad & have a thin bagel with hummus. I don't like a lot of dressing on my salads, so I like the spray on ones, even though they have hi-fructose corn syrup in them. Why oh why do they think I need that???

Yay VP! You've been missed.

I've lost a total of 34 pounds since September of last year (still got more to go). I'm on a low cal diet. Getting in at least 60 oz. of water a day, and exercising at least 4 days a week. I'm still waiting for the day that I actually enjoy exercise... will it ever come? I do feel good AFTER I'm done

GG!!!!! If those panties are any indication you're perfect just the way you are!!
Now, regarding the scales, Goddess I'd save my $$ & focus on how your clothes fit you. Scales are the DEVIL & can break many spirits when the #'s don't change for the better.
Wi fitness games are very highly reviewed so that will be a great start!
Lin, try wheat pasta when you're making spaghetti. It's actually pretty good.

The scale actually does work for me. Even when the numbers aren't going down. I know that it doesn't work for everyone.

Potty, I'm not allowed to make things like wheat pasta. They would freak!!! I'm not allowed to do variations on anything that they want me to cook. I can't cook any of my specialties for them. They don't eat anything that they're not familiar with. And what they're familiar with is odious to me. Lately, he's been on this kick of wanting broiled meat & no potatoes for dinner. He substitutes corn for the potatoes. He says he's eating light. But he wants at least 2 huge pork chops & he eats a mountain of ice cream for dessert. It's a bit laughable. And she has esophageal issues, so no rice. Even if I was allowed to cook rice, it would be the white kind, probably Minute Rice.

So I just keep making meals for them & one for myself also. I think that they're more understanding now of my dietary weirdness. When I first got here they all accused me of being a food snob & that their food wasn't good enough for me. I explained that my body doesn't process the sodium well & that it can make me ill. Also that I have food preferences just like they have them.

Hey VP, i was thinking about you recently wondering if you ever did the marathon you were training for, congrats!  I hate running also but wish i loved it.  I even hated running when i ran track in HS lol.

As to the thread in general -- congrats on everyone who is doing well, and encouragement for everyone who needs or wants it.   I had a brilliant idea to try and each like TBL and WW in october, January of this year after my labs my doc said oh hell no more and to go back to Atkins. So that's where i am back on atkins, planning and trying to take that first step to the gym which i keep making excuses for.  I got a wii, wii fit and zumba wii for Christmas and well i opened the boxes ohhh and ahhed and well lol now just still look at them going ohh and ahh.

I am watching Season 11, which is Jillian's last season for now (i think she will be back eventually again).  They have revealed the unknown trainers and i think i will like the guy but not too sure about the woman.  She just seems really "superior type attitude."   I don't get that from Bob, Jillian or Brad (the new guy).  But they also haven't given the new trainers much air time so i am reserving judgment on the woman with reservations lol.  I already have my favorite team picked out -- the blue team with the biggest guy on it  and my blah team picked out (of which 1 went home last week - the black team)  this might change when they integrate the teams and show more of the unknowns.

angel
